I just bought a drum this weekend and was wondering if you know how to find out what key a drum is in? I know about tuners, but does that show me the KEY? Newbie here :) Thank you for your videos, I just found them and am enjoying the lessons so far.
Hi Alanna. Great question. If you have a tuner on hand, then I would play all the notes on your tongue drum into your tuner to get a list of all the notes you have on your tongue drum. Count the number of sharps or flats to determine the major key. Find the major key by identifying the last sharp or second-to-last flat.
Hi Kiki I just posted a new one today! Here is the link to it: th-cam.com/video/Hg9FswG1hQA/w-d-xo.html. I'm hoping to create more soon! Thanks for watching!
Hi Lala! I've only played my tongue drum with soft mallets or with my fingers, so I can't speak from experience, but my guess would be that harder mallets might be too hard/heavy against the steel. They would probably create a loud sound, but might be too harsh for this drum. Rubber mallets, could be a nice second option. They would probably create a nice bounce and would be good for rolling. I'll have to look into this more. Thanks for the question.
I've come across a few books that have sheet music. If you do a quick search on google for "tongue drum sheet music with numbers" you will find a few options. Let me know if you end up getting any. I'm curious about they would translate on different styles and scales.
Hi I recently got a drum that is similar to yours in size and shape and it has 8 notes, but I’m not sure the correct labeling. How do I know which is which when I watch tutorials for songs I can’t figure out how to tell which note is which? Have any advice?
Great question! I would try to use a tuner and play each note individually to see which one is which. There are a ton of free tuner apps that you can download for free right onto your phone!

Please do more of these! It’s so hard to find good videos on how to play
Thanks so much James! I'm working on creating more!
Please upload the next lessons. Want to learn fully.
Please keep making these, there are barely resources out there for tongue drum players :'(
Thanks for the comment! I'll try to post some more soon!
Thank you so much for this series of videos! You are a great teacher :)
Thanks so much for your response Raúl : )

Do you know of where I could find sheet music (I guess?) for a tongue drum? Or songs to play and how to play the songs? Thank you.
