In most of these videos, I'm seeing that the nipple of the breast is erect prior to latching....if you don't have an erect nipple prior to attachment, will a proper latch create that erect nipple? Key is to get as much of the areola and breast in the mouth right so the suction can create a comfortable nipple shape for baby?

I know all of this, I try all of this, and I can only ever get her to take the nipple. She's only two days old, but already I'm so frustrated, especially because she's been cluster feeding during the nights, all night long...
I breastfed my first born for 14 months it went really well. 2 years later i have another boy and I'm having so much trouble with the latch. My nipples have purple sores on them and i don't look forward to feedings at all and unfortunately it's every 1-3 hours. This video was very helpful i hope i can get it right and successfully breastfed this baby too

If you don't mind me asking, did you bottle feed in the time frame you couldn't get baby to latch? It's.only been 4 days for me but she has learned the bottle is quicker. I'm so worried I will never get her to latch.

@@qtip4296 I've gotten her to latch twice and she fed pretty well but it isn't consistent 😭 Ive been pumping and giving her breast milk through a bottle when she won't latch. But I'm still Praying she will latch and EBF soon.

I have flat nipples, like it’s so hard to keep my nipples hard.. I have to mess with them but it doesn’t stay hard long enough to try and latch my baby.

It takes practice to do this right Preferably when both of you are calm and relaxed. I failed miserably when breast feeding my first daughter but, I was a breastfeeding champion with my second daughter.

Oh where were you 6yrs ago! The midwives and lactation consultant told me nothing, never said anything like this. The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) and LC disliked us and as such we didnt get the assistance we needed
