Hello, I have a new LED light, same type you have here, with the same type of wiring in the switch and the switch isn’t turning the light off, any ideas? The LED light has the red, black, tan (white) and ground wire, help! Please

That sounds like the LED light is not connected to the switch. The red and black wires are live wires. Only one of them should be connected to the LED light. Sounds like the one that is currently connected to the LED light is not connected to the switch.

@ So after watching your video again, we decided to try and just use the red wire on the LED light as you had indicated when you installed your LED light, you had said if the black didn’t work you were going to try the red, we did that and all is great! The light works at the switch and the dimmer works and so happy! Definitely never thought of that, all the other videos just showed using the black and white wire and the ground of course! So thank you!

I thought the bottom black wire was the load and the top black wire was the switch leg?

🤔 so in my old trailer park engineering ways, I got a light, and what’s essentially a 10’ extension cord with no female plug, just white black and green wire, wired straight to the white black and bare ground wires in the light, it’s plugged into a surge protector. 2 reasons, I’m in an apartment and my landlord would shit if I went off and modernized the lights 😂, and two, I’ve been using solar lights and the same Aa energizers for almost 20 years. Had a car battery sitting around, got a solar panel, it sits in the window held up with a tension curtain rod 😉 nothing permanent all movable, I charge all kinds of batteries and made my moms old lamp completely overkill fancy pretty just because it’s almost 2025 and I don’t like the idea of turning on a light switch every time I turn around, also, I don’t get a lot of sunlight all the time through my one window in my bedroom so the solar lights and what not take away the pitch blackness 🤷 I can see. The led light I just got is pretty dang bright, even the ‘night light’ and it’s not light my led strip lights, there’s no dimming option, and I’m thinking hard about a dimmer switch integrated into it, but there’s no receptacle involved and idk if I’m going to have to hillbilly one up with a mini wooden box so there’s no exposure to the screws or anything as such. I already have everything set up on kill switch’s basically and I kill the power before I leave the house accept my normal solar lights so wouldn’t be much of a bother if I can figure out the dimmer switch . Guessing just hack the ‘extension’ cord and splice one in and heat shrink and whatever to protect any intersections of wires
