    Sorry for the 1080p quality. I uploaded in 4K, but TH-cam hasn’t processed the 4K version yet. Apparently a lot of people have been having this issue lately. 🤷‍♂️🥔

      Did you ever use the Ifootage slider with the X2 head? I loved everything about it except for the amount of noise it produced, making it unusable during interviews. I made a video about it and posted in the reviews on Amazon, about a week later Ifootage stopped selling that unit. This makes me a bit suspicious of the Ifootage brand. Here's the video:
      www.amazon.com/review/R2SPXG9LXBV5A8/ref=cm_cr_srp_d_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8
      I'm using the Rhino Arc 2 now and love it, but it's way too expensive for what it is. Also, you can only set 2 slide points with the focus unit and the high torque motor is painfully slow...so there's issues. Why can't any of these companies make a quality slider that's quiet, has a strong motor, good user interface and is sub 1k?

    Trying to find the best solution for my sony / 90mm macro, thanks for testing out that combination! An interesting alternative to the Zeapon Micro 2 series of sliders. While I like the user interface and motion control aspect of this, the modular expand-ability of the Zeapon sliders makes entry into their platform initially a little easier on the pocket, and their easy lock base allows their equivalent slider to run the full length without the need for a tripod. With that said the Zeapon sliders, currently, don't have any pan axis motion control system designed specifically them (currently), and adding one would likely push their over all cost above the cost of this; however, the motorized Zeapon sliders have almost twice the vertical payload capacity, so it's possible they could add a motion control head to it and offer something with nearly the same over all functionality. It's good to see multiple decent budget slider options showing up at this price point.

    So at 15:30 for the Testing Long Lenses shot, you balanced the camera and THEN extended the zoom, which would then unbalance the camera. This could cause those small vibration issue.

    A couple of things: When tilting down, especially with heavier lens, you should push the camera even further back on the head, to minimize the front-heaviness. With the vertical L-bracket setup, same principle...try to get the camera balanced in every axis, to give the motor a fighting chance to tilt the camera without having to work so hard.

    This looks like a great slider option for adding a second camera angle in a solo video production environment! The $300 GVM slider that i've been eyeing always seemed functional but janky, and I'm hesitant to spend $2k for a Rhino slider when I don't need three axis movements. This might be the perfect option for me in 2021.

  • @GeraldBertramPhotography

    One thought: For the vertical mounting use case I'd think you could increase the weight of the load by attaching a counterweight to the reverse travel platter as long as the pulleys and belt can handle the overall weight...

    Nice vid! One question: Do you have some "flexing" on the slider? Because I'm recording a show in a room and it has a lot of straight lines. The camera being heavy and my tripod not strong enough, it "flexes" and the lines are not straight anymore when the camera hits the edges. What tripod do you have? :D

    Yeah, pretty cool little slider for the price point Gerald. Had a thought for the vertical stuff - bit of rigging required but if you could sling a counterbalance up over the back of it and add weight to that as needed (depending on camera and lens weight) I wonder if that little assist would give you a smooth pedestal up movement?

    Yet another great video. Would you say that the microjitters on this are more pronounced than the Rhino Traveler? I'll mostly be using these with a probe lens. The little Edelkrone unit I use now is really smooth, but not long enough. The idea of not needing an app and seeing how it can pan makes this super appealing.

    Another fantastic video; thank you, Gerald, for your continuing efforts to bring quality content to the TH-cam platform. That being said, how would you say this compares to the Rhino Arc series of sliders? I know it's difficult in some regards due to the price points, options, etc., that Rhino Arc offers. However, they do offer some entry-level sliders as well. All and all, this looks like a great piece of gear with a quality build that would prove useful for many people. Again, thank you for all that you do and for what I learn from you... Cheers.

    I'm seeing the micro-vibrations even on the wider angles you shot with at the start. Buttery-smooth slides are the only reason to get a motorized slider over a manual slider, but I'd prefer the more organic human imperfections of a manual slide over the jittery imperfections of a bad robotic move any day. Kind of a non-starter. Though I'll acknowledge that it seems like the little jitters are easy for stabilization software to correct.

  • @AthanCondax
    @AthanCondax 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think the problem is not necessarily the weight restriction, rather it appears to be the "moment" created by the camera. If you were to screw in a small 2kg weight directly to the motorized slider, I'm sure that it would be able to pan and translate without any issues. Having a large body and lens moves the center of gravity further away from the mount, requiring more force.
    This raises the question: "why are manufacturers putting weight recommendations when technically it should be a force recommendation?" It's probably because it's much easier to weigh a camera system than it is to pinpoint it's center of gravity and measure the moment and force created by the way the system is configured. I feel like I'm going into a direction that's a bit too technical, but this is a Gerald Undone video after all.
