I like these techniques a lot because you can also use them on the attack. I know hapkido is for self defense but these can be offensive follow-ups to other martial arts. I’ve done muay thai and krav maga a lot and the leg brace takedown would be great for after escaping a rear naked choke, likewise the chicken wing takedown would be great for after having put someone in a head clinch and knee them a few times.
Thank you for commenting! Yes we do treat a lot of techniques as “first attack” not because we want to go take a defenseless person down, but sometimes a dangerous person is better taken down before they get dangerous, instead of waiting for them to make a move. Nice analogy to using these in arts like Krav Maga and muay thai
What people don't understand about techniques studied in hapkido and any art is yes there is always gonna be a counter. Hapkido is a self defense art & shouldn't be used to be the aggressor.
Correct and very true. The point of this video was not to show me as an aggressor, but I refrained from showing attacks for me to defend because I only wanted to focus on the techniques themselves
Just discovered this channel, fantastic content!
