You know in the part when Ellie tells Joel about her dream? I think that this is what happened at the end. When she said that she was just about to save the plane from falling, she woke up and so she couldn't save the plane. In the end of the game, she doesn't save the world but gets woken up by Joel.

Crash Bandicoot made naughty dog, they had that for years and when that came to an end, they went through rough patch after rough patch, almost to the point where they might not create another game. But then the last of us came along and saved them. Joel is naughty dog, Crash Bandicoot was never to last, Sarah dies, and through the years Joel struggles is naughty dog struggling to create a game that really strikes the public. And then the idea for TLOU comes along, Ellie comes into Joel's life. And theres a huge struggle with making the game, so many different ideas trying to create the perfect game. And Ellies vaccine was a do or die moment, either they finish the game or pull the plug, and they finished it. Leaving the lie in the end just ties together a perfect end to an amazing game

Well, Ocarina of time is another great game, not to mention except Marion bros game industry when it was about to break. There are also outrageously perfect games like shadow of colossus, journey, flower, etc.. Why could not classify, the last of us as the best but as one of the best.
Not the best, but I think it's a big milestone in the gaming industry. Finally a game that combined both mechanics and story. Although I enjoyed Heavy Rain, it wasn't much of a game, more like an interactive story. TLoU feels like a game.

It's a game that makes you cry from the first 12 minutes. It plays with your feelings. It makes you cry, it makes you laugh, it makes you angry. A game with a story that well-made should deserve not more that 300 game awards, nor 400 but over 500. It's a game that will make you fell that ur in Joel and Ellie's journey. And speaking about them it's not Ellie, nor Joel it's Joel AND Ellie. Man it's such a great game!!!

Shenron the second one has me feeling worse than the first did. At least the first one had some type of happy ending this second game was just super depressing, although the story was amazing; one of the best game series we gamers have been able to lay our hands on

She should feel sorry, because that's how you redeem a character. The player loved Joel [ideally, because that's how Part I was written], so killing him means we hate the killer. This game did something outstanding in terms of emotional involvement of a player. You literally live the life of Joel and Ellie, you fight with them to survive in this rough world, but you also experience the 'good' moments like seeing Giraffes in a park. And you begin to appreciate them. This game will stay in my mind for a long time, and it is partially thanks to this brilliant OST.
me 2 mate... just finished the game.. the story is so emotional.. the relationship between Joel and Ellie are amazing, How Joel goes from being stone cold after his daughter death and to really open himself for Ellie. I am so glad they did not kill Ellie.. i loved the end.. tho it's really sad in a way to, cause you know Ellie would sacrificed herself if she knew she could save the world, but like Joel would rather lie to her instead of loosing his "second daughter". It's the most amazing experience i have ever had in a singel player story game. He lost his one daughter, then his close friend, fuck practically everybody he cared about, and most of people he encountered were either bandits trying to kill him or f..reaking cannibals... And there's Ellie. So what could persuade him to sacrifice the last person he cares about for the sake of this rotten 'humanity' stripped of any decency?

nightmare king grimm pufferfish attack I liked everything about it except the ending and I hated Abby. I would like a prequel with Joel and Todd’s adventures in Texas at the start of the outbreak
I only played this game recently when it was free on PS Plus for the first time and the ending ear the most bittersweet delicate thing I've ever felt. Ive never had a girlfriend or felt any real connection in my soul but for that moment when Ellie says "okay" and it cuts to the "The Last of Us" title card, I felt sorrow and passion so beautifully intertwined in that little moment that I knew what it must feel like to belong to an idea greater than yourself and love with your soul. Maybe that sounds a bit cheesy or something but I'm a very sensitive guy and I never get opportunities to feel this way in my real life. It's only art like this that breathes life into my soul.
this has to be the most powerful ending in all of gaming. Ellie being left lost and confused as to what really happened in that hospital and questioning why Joel feels more relieved than usual. followed by her asking him to swear to her that what he said in the first place was true. only for him to lie once more, replied by “Okay”. and the hard cut to black with the credits rolling and this song playing. it’s damn near perfect. although i personally thought that TLoU Part II was not that bad, i still feel like the story should’ve ended with TLoU Part I.
The one thing I liked about TLOU2's story was mainly about how Ellie found out about the fact that Joel essentially doomed humanity. Eh, I'll just say it, every flashback sequence that takes place before the main story were absolute bangers in my opinion, like featuring a Joel who's grown back into father mode and spending time with Ellie with no real end goal, just fun hike. Or how ah I've said it already, the whole flashback sequences of Ellie slowly figuring out. And last but not least that damn fukin final flashback featuring Ellie's last interaction with Joel before he dies, that part hits like a fukin truck.
The second part really put everything together for me. Everyone suffers in their own way and want to find happiness in their own way. It's all just a cycle of hatred and pain which people don't know how to get out of that dooms them to face more pain, more loss. And in the end, no one is right. Everyone is just.... suffering, without a way out.
@@gibleyman the probability of success was extremely low, like not even worth it low. The cordyceps isn’t a disease so it’s very difficult to cure it. Joel did what any father would do. There’s also the fact that the fireflies handled it extremely wrong. They knocked them both out and told Joel his daughter was going do die. Ellie didn’t even know she was gonna die, throughout the whole game. They also forced Joel out at gunpoint. Idk what they thought was gonna happen doing it the way they did.
I think the ending wasnt that bad. Yea Joel lied but theres no need to call him a coward and an eghoist. Ellie remembers Sarah to Joel he couldnt afford to lose ellie when she basically is a *daighter* to him, besides i bet alot of people would do the same thing joel did. LectricSheepz Nothing to be gained....? Except a cure for all of humanity? She said she wanted to just do it and get it over with. Her life being taken would only really effect two people. Though, Joel was a broken husk of a man when we played him 20-years-later. He'd personally, have nothing to gain. Though life around him would thrive and improve and be less about survival, just, it'd be hard for him to move on. The plus-side would be at that point. He'd probably similarly to the Secret-Aftermath Play we were shown, he goes back to the Dam/Hydro Generator his brother is at and meets a new girl that he's dating. If this were true, he could by some sliver of a chance be able to move on even without Ellie if this female he was introduced to by his brother is good for him or not. Morality and Duty and Ethics all differ. he didn't do what was morally right and it was of his own interests. 'Morality' is based on the notion of what helps everyone or things that are bigger than an individual person. Still, a chance that someone else gets bitten and doesn't get infected still can exist, who knows the chances. Nonetheless, you cannot tell someone with a straight face that 'Nothing' would be gained, that's the whole point on why there's a conflict.

This is by far the best game i've played ever and i've been gaming since the beginning of Halo and nothing has beaten this. I've played the campaign about 3 times over and the DLC 3 times over. It never gets old, every time it gets me so hooked and so emotionally attached that i cannot put the controller down. Its a beautiful story and the music, is just the cherry on top of a master piece. Outstanding. There needs to be a Last of Us 2 because i want to know more about what happens, it leaves it on such a scene were you have to know more. The music after the game ended just left you in such an emotional state that i had to save it on my captions and watch it over and over again. The composer for the music in this game needs an award and Naughty dog seriously need to start working on Last of Us 2 but if they do, they need to get this composer back in to do their music, perfection, absolute perfection. Very well done Naughty Dog you've made the best game of the generation you have my respect.

+plosonen The gameplay was good but certainly had its flaws. For example, the strangling/shivving. Always the same animation. A little variety would've been awesome. Same thing for the boosting up Tess/Ellie thing, or with planks/ladders.
I totally like story based games, and this one was by far beyond all of that, its without any doubt a masterpiece and it deserves every fucking award, I hate this open world hype in the gaming industry, I like the way how naughty dog handles their audience, they respect us, they produce this piece of art with love and passion, you can clearly realize this in every scene of the game, thats why most of us dont see it as a game, cause not much games nowadays contain this level of detail, they transfer this feeling to the gamer, an emotional connection where you find yourself inside the story
Too bad all their games are PlayStation exclusive though... I feel like they could do so much more on PC. Look at Uncharted 4 for example. That could've been the best looking game ever, if it had been on PC.
yeah and I dont think they have a certain hate for a specific platform, they just follow their contracts and I dont think that 200 € (ps4) is too much for a console nowadays when we notice the amount of money which pc gamers spend for their expensive graphic cards, we should be glad that there are producers like them out there

For me, it was not that bad a story, after all, ND gave the message they wanted: hate. However, you can't feel the same emotions as you finished the first one. At the end of second one i was like "Ok you gave the message nice job... but at what cost?"

The emotion that this theme brings me, taking me back to before I had played The Last Of Us a hundred times, is incredible. This is a feeling that I long for at the end of the day and it always delivers. Never before has any form of media held my attention throughout the day. Every morning I wake up and look forward to this brief moment after life where i sit back and reflect on myself as a person. My ideals and personality have changed after playing this game thinking about where my life is going to go. I honestly hope everyone is provided the opportunity to experience such raw powerful emotion, weather it be this game or any thing/one else. For me The Last Of Us was about the journey through life, where you start well off just like Joel and Tess or Ellie in the Military school but after choosing to go through hell, just to help someone else, you end up better off yourself. Sorry for the rant, I just wanted to show how much this work of art has influenced me over the part of my life.

6 years later and it still makes me wonder back in Boston when Joel and Tess had that argument of whether they’re shitty people or just survivors; the ending made you realize you could be both even if you have the best intentions
The first game will always have a special place in my heart. It was the first time I ugly cried since I was a little kid, broke my heart in the beginning, the middle, and then the ending healed me all over again. Not even for a split moment did I think what Joel did was wrong, I'd let the world burn rather than let my daughter be killed.
I remember I was 12 when I played it for the first time, I didn’t understand the story,just enjoyed the gameplay over and over again,until I understood the story,to become a masterpiece that I will never forget,being able to share human emotions by a game make it not just a “game”,phenomenal project and I really hope there is more and more in future
i replayed the game today and it was the best thing i've done in quite a while. This game is a masterpiece in all aspects, gameplay is wonderfull, graphics are better then most games published this year and the game is 10 years old and the story i don't even have to talk about that. Everybody who has even helped in the slightest bit to develop this game can be proud for ever of what they have acomplished. This game has made so many people feel so many emotions (including me). I cried the first time i played it and the second time and probably will the third time. I don't even know how it is possible to make such a good game it is a work of art it's like playing the best movie you've ever seen. Incredable
Man. This game man. I just love how it ends on a lie. The characters and environments are all played so well. Unfortunate that it had some things that were hard to look past or forgive. Especially since many of those errors weren't fixed in the Remaster. Still though, man. Naughty Dog brought it home with this one. 8.5 out of 10 for sure. Maybe even as far as a 9. Just for the music. Cause I'm a damn sucker for some good music.
What was hard to look past or forgive? It had solid gameplay as well as story. The only major issue in the entire game is the fact that the opening nearly reaches Persona 4 in length before gameplay. The only real issue I can see in the game is the clickers, which made the most intense locations in the game, never appeared in large numbers in the scenes you were supposed to gun through, and generally were easy to deal with.
this is coming from an xbox fan but i give it a ten, ive played the whole thing and it is truly one of the best games ever, i look for a good story in games as well as replay value which is why i really loved this, i like halo better just because i play xbox but still, i respect this game and their fans
This is in my top 5. Not a game but an experience. I don't know what the feeling will be when the credits roll on the second game all i do know is 2 things. Naughty Dog have never made a bad game imo and they always make trilogys so who knows what the second game will be (and even possibly a third installment) Everybody is so sure they know the story. We will just have to wait and see "Endure and survive"

Crash Bandicoot made naughty dog, they had that for years and when that came to an end, they went through rough patch after rough patch, almost to the point where they might not create another game. But then the last of us came along and saved them.
Joel is naughty dog, Crash Bandicoot was never to last, Sarah dies, and through the years Joel struggles is naughty dog struggling to create a game that really strikes the public. And then the idea for TLOU comes along, Ellie comes into Joel's life. And theres a huge struggle with making the game, so many different ideas trying to create the perfect game. And Ellies vaccine was a do or die moment, either they finish the game or pull the plug, and they finished it. Leaving the lie in the end just ties together a perfect end to an amazing game

Not the best, but I think it's a big milestone in the gaming industry. Finally a game that combined both mechanics and story. Although I enjoyed Heavy Rain, it wasn't much of a game, more like an interactive story. TLoU feels like a game.

You know it’s a good game when after hearing the end theme you sit in bed for days contemplating what just happened.
Shenron the second one has me feeling worse than the first did. At least the first one had some type of happy ending this second game was just super depressing, although the story was amazing; one of the best game series we gamers have been able to lay our hands on

She should feel sorry, because that's how you redeem a character. The player loved Joel [ideally, because that's how Part I was written], so killing him means we hate the killer. And as long as she doesn't feel sorry, she can't be redeemed.

This game did something outstanding in terms of emotional involvement of a player. You literally live the life of Joel and Ellie, you fight with them to survive in this rough world, but you also experience the 'good' moments like seeing Giraffes in a park. And you begin to appreciate them.
This game will stay in my mind for a long time, and it is partially thanks to this brilliant OST.
me 2 mate... just finished the game.. the story is so emotional.. the relationship between Joel and Ellie are amazing, How Joel goes from being stone cold after his daughter death and to really open himself for Ellie. I am so glad they did not kill Ellie.. i loved the end.. tho it's really sad in a way to, cause you know Ellie would sacrificed herself if she knew she could save the world, but like Joel would rather lie to her instead of loosing his "second daughter". It's the most amazing experience i have ever had in a singel player story game. I wish the game was like everlasting :P ... was really sad to leave Joel and Ellie.. it's like breaking up with someone and you feel like you lost a part of yourself... never tought a video game could be so damn amazing..

But I don't blame Joel, I would've done the same. He lost his one daughter, then his close friend, fuck practically everybody he cared about, and most of people he encountered were either bandits trying to kill him or f..reaking cannibals... And there's Ellie. So what could persuade him to sacrifice the last person he cares about for the sake of this rotten 'humanity' stripped of any decency?

I only played this game recently when it was free on PS Plus for the first time and the ending ear the most bittersweet delicate thing I've ever felt. Ive never had a girlfriend or felt any real connection in my soul but for that moment when Ellie says "okay" and it cuts to the "The Last of Us" title card, I felt sorrow and passion so beautifully intertwined in that little moment that I knew what it must feel like to belong to an idea greater than yourself and love with your soul.
Maybe that sounds a bit cheesy or something but I'm a very sensitive guy and I never get opportunities to feel this way in my real life. It's only art like this that breathes life into my soul.
this has to be the most powerful ending in all of gaming. Ellie being left lost and confused as to what really happened in that hospital and questioning why Joel feels more relieved than usual. followed by her asking him to swear to her that what he said in the first place was true. only for him to lie once more, replied by “Okay”. and the hard cut to black with the credits rolling and this song playing. it’s damn near perfect. although i personally thought that TLoU Part II was not that bad, i still feel like the story should’ve ended with TLoU Part I.
Completely agree, tlou didn’t need a sequel. It could use more games within the universe but Joel and Ellie’s story should have ended there.
The one thing I liked about TLOU2's story was mainly about how Ellie found out about the fact that Joel essentially doomed humanity.
Eh, I'll just say it, every flashback sequence that takes place before the main story were absolute bangers in my opinion, like featuring a Joel who's grown back into father mode and spending time with Ellie with no real end goal, just fun hike.
Or how ah I've said it already, the whole flashback sequences of Ellie slowly figuring out.
And last but not least that damn fukin final flashback featuring Ellie's last interaction with Joel before he dies, that part hits like a fukin truck.
The second part really put everything together for me. Everyone suffers in their own way and want to find happiness in their own way. It's all just a cycle of hatred and pain which people don't know how to get out of that dooms them to face more pain, more loss. And in the end, no one is right. Everyone is just.... suffering, without a way out.
@@gibleyman the probability of success was extremely low, like not even worth it low. The cordyceps isn’t a disease so it’s very difficult to cure it. Joel did what any father would do. There’s also the fact that the fireflies handled it extremely wrong. They knocked them both out and told Joel his daughter was going do die. Ellie didn’t even know she was gonna die, throughout the whole game. They also forced Joel out at gunpoint. Idk what they thought was gonna happen doing it the way they did.
i love the 2nd part. It’s hard to play with all the emotions you have, but life is hard and cruel.

Ellie remembers Sarah to Joel he couldnt afford to lose ellie when she basically is a *daighter* to him, besides i bet alot of people would do the same thing joel did. Would you gave away someone you care about so much and basically means everything to you on a post apocalyptic world, to be used as a cure to make society come back to the selfish, greedy, scumbags they have always been?
I'd go even further than that. What Joel did was morally right. Realistically, there was nothing to be gained by Ellie's death.

She said she wanted to just do it and get it over with. Her life being taken would only really effect two people. Though, Joel was a broken husk of a man when we played him 20-years-later. He'd personally, have nothing to gain. Though life around him would thrive and improve and be less about survival, just, it'd be hard for him to move on.
The plus-side would be at that point. He'd probably similarly to the Secret-Aftermath Play we were shown, he goes back to the Dam/Hydro Generator his brother is at and meets a new girl that he's dating. If this were true, he could by some sliver of a chance be able to move on even without Ellie if this female he was introduced to by his brother is good for him or not. Morality and Duty and Ethics all differ. he didn't do what was morally right and it was of his own interests. 'Morality' is based on the notion of what helps everyone or things that are bigger than an individual person.
Still, a chance that someone else gets bitten and doesn't get infected still can exist, who knows the chances. Nonetheless, you cannot tell someone with a straight face that 'Nothing' would be gained, that's the whole point on why there's a conflict.

I'm sorry but anyone who doesn't like this game seriously doesn't know the meaning of a good game and isn't a true gamer. This is by far the best game i've played ever and i've been gaming since the beginning of Halo and nothing has beaten this. I've played the campaign about 3 times over and the DLC 3 times over. It never gets old, every time it gets me so hooked and so emotionally attached that i cannot put the controller down. Its a beautiful story and the music, is just the cherry on top of a master piece. Outstanding. There needs to be a Last of Us 2 because i want to know more about what happens, it leaves it on such a scene were you have to know more. The music after the game ended just left you in such an emotional state that i had to save it on my captions and watch it over and over again. The composer for the music in this game needs an award and Naughty dog seriously need to start working on Last of Us 2 but if they do, they need to get this composer back in to do their music, perfection, absolute perfection. Very well done Naughty Dog you've made the best game of the generation you have my respect.

I totally like story based games, and this one was by far beyond all of that, its without any doubt a masterpiece and it deserves every fucking award, I hate this open world hype in the gaming industry, I like the way how naughty dog handles their audience, they respect us, they produce this piece of art with love and passion, you can clearly realize this in every scene of the game, thats why most of us dont see it as a game, cause not much games nowadays contain this level of detail, they transfer this feeling to the gamer, an emotional connection where you find yourself inside the story
Too bad all their games are PlayStation exclusive though... I feel like they could do so much more on PC. Look at Uncharted 4 for example. That could've been the best looking game ever, if it had been on PC.

For me, it was not that bad a story, after all, ND gave the message they wanted: hate. However, you can't feel the same emotions as you finished the first one. At the end of second one i was like "Ok you gave the message nice job... but at what cost?"
Parry Hotter The second game as you said got the message through, and I appriecate what the story was trying to say. But at the same time I can’t help but think about how it would be had we’ve gotten a more satisfying story which wasn’t only sad and heart wrenching. Enjoyed the experience nevertheless.

The last of US i commrcial game which doesnt offer really good gameplay. Its just a story. Both Metro and Especialy Witcher have story and splendid gameplay. I have to admit that Im pole and Witcher is a Polish game so...

I first played this game back in 2015 and hearing this again after so many years made me shed a tear because I miss being back in those good ol days
The emotion that this theme brings me, taking me back to before I had played The Last Of Us a hundred times, is incredible. This is a feeling that I long for at the end of the day and it always delivers. Never before has any form of media held my attention throughout the day. Every morning I wake up and look forward to this brief moment after life where i sit back and reflect on myself as a person. My ideals and personality have changed after playing this game thinking about where my life is going to go. I honestly hope everyone is provided the opportunity to experience such raw powerful emotion, weather it be this game or any thing/one else. For me The Last Of Us was about the journey through life, where you start well off just like Joel and Tess or Ellie in the Military school but after choosing to go through hell, just to help someone else, you end up better off yourself. Sorry for the rant, I just wanted to show how much this work of art has influenced me over the part of my life.

6 years later and it still makes me wonder back in Boston when Joel and Tess had that argument of whether they’re shitty people or just survivors; the ending made you realize you could be both even if you have the best intentions
The first game will always have a special place in my heart. It was the first time I ugly cried since I was a little kid, broke my heart in the beginning, the middle, and then the ending healed me all over again. Not even for a split moment did I think what Joel did was wrong, I'd let the world burn rather than let my daughter be killed.

I remember I was 12 when I played it for the first time, I didn’t understand the story,just enjoyed the gameplay over and over again,until I understood the story,to become a masterpiece that I will never forget,being able to share human emotions by a game make it not just a “game”,phenomenal project and I really hope there is more and more in future
i replayed the game today and it was the best thing i've done in quite a while. This game is a masterpiece in all aspects, gameplay is wonderfull, graphics are better then most games published this year and the game is 10 years old and the story i don't even have to talk about that. Everybody who has even helped in the slightest bit to develop this game can be proud for ever of what they have acomplished. This game has made so many people feel so many emotions (including me). I cried the first time i played it and the second time and probably will the third time. I don't even know how it is possible to make such a good game it is a work of art it's like playing the best movie you've ever seen. Incredable
Man. This game man. I just love how it ends on a lie. The characters and environments are all played so well. Unfortunate that it had some things that were hard to look past or forgive. Especially since many of those errors weren't fixed in the Remaster. Still though, man. Naughty Dog brought it home with this one. 8.5 out of 10 for sure. Maybe even as far as a 9. Just for the music. Cause I'm a damn sucker for some good music.
What was hard to look past or forgive? It had solid gameplay as well as story. The only major issue in the entire game is the fact that the opening nearly reaches Persona 4 in length before gameplay. The only real issue I can see in the game is the clickers, which made the most intense locations in the game, never appeared in large numbers in the scenes you were supposed to gun through, and generally were easy to deal with.
9.3 for me
this is coming from an xbox fan but i give it a ten, ive played the whole thing and it is truly one of the best games ever, i look for a good story in games as well as replay value which is why i really loved this, i like halo better just because i play xbox but still, i respect this game and their fans

This is in my top 5. Not a game but an experience. I don't know what the feeling will be when the credits roll on the second game all i do know is 2 things. Naughty Dog have never made a bad game imo and they always make trilogys so who knows what the second game will be (and even possibly a third installment) Everybody is so sure they know the story. We will just have to wait and see
