    A few important things:
    1) Weight 7lbs 4oz. I think the other was other one was 7lbs 12oz.
    2) Thanks to those who mentioned I reversed the pickup animations.
    3) I can now also hear the push/pull. Sometimes you spend a crazy amount of time on an edit and everything starts to blur together lol. It's subtle, but that's not a bad thing.

    I really appreciate the level of detail, but especially the honesty of all of your reviews. Sadly, I don't think many companies will want to work with you, due to the fact that you're so honest. Phil McKnight has that problem, many companies who work with other youtubers will not provide him with their product, because he won't give positive reviews on things that don't deserve them, nor allow them to preview the videos he makes before posting them. Keep up the good work, sir!

      He can definitely get review gear, so long as he brands this as a media endeavor.

      To their credit, PRS still sends Phil a lot of gear to review. He's been very critical of them on occasion -- and directly to Paul himself.

    It is easy way of switching between lead and rhythm for him

    Awesome review, Dr. Fludd! My only nitpick is that Myles’s official demo says that the push-pull pot only works for the bridge position. I’m glad you went in depth with the neck profile because other than the price tag, that would be the only thing keeping me from buying.
    As for the haters, I think people seeing a T shape get upset because they expect it to be a “Tele clone” when Myles intended to build a guitar that fits his needs and the shape is only 1 component.
    Keep up the good work!

    • @andrefludd

      But the PRS chart said something else. Idk lol thanks for supporting Zack.

    • @j_freed
      @j_freed ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not mentioning a word about neck profile is selling to a noob audience, not real players, and our local friend Darrell Braun seems to be stuck with the role of catering to that niche audience while being generally super supportive the brand.
      They’re dazzled about buying new interesting guitars which js cool too but also knowing about your personal best neck profiles helps you avoid purchase errors and advance as a player.

    • @PrisonerD
      @PrisonerD ปีที่แล้ว

      @@j_freed Darrell liked this guitar, but generally doesn’t like PRS Guitars - he has plenty of videos where he highlights their build quality, but that they are too sterile for his tastes? The neck profile on this sounds like a thick 50s style neck. I’ll definitely avoid due to that, so thanks Andre for pointing this out - slim 60s style necks for me.

    • @j_freed
      @j_freed ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PrisonerD that's cool, I think some other players also do evolve towards thicker necks over time and develop stronger hands and then they find they can play heavier strings.

    Another outstanding video - the level of detail you go into is always instructive and insightful. I hadn't seen any other reviews of this model as I wasn't interested in it (although I'd seen the thumbnails so I knew it existed), but I could definitely hear a (slight) difference between the pickups when the switch was engaged. It wasn't obvious but, listening through headphones, there was a slight but noticeable difference in my opinion. It's still not something I'd buy but I'm always impressed with how thorough your reviews are.

  • @finishin.my.coffee8780
    @finishin.my.coffee8780 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Seems like a great, all-in-one package. It's got the classic bluesy tones, and also roars with heavy distortion for metal rhythm playing. That finish has always been my favorite tele finish too. It's the aesthetic...natural, almost butterscotch-looking finish with the black guard. If I had the money, this would have probably been my perfect guitar as a 15 year old who loved Iron Maiden and Metallica but was also into bands like Cinderella, and really any artist who could play lead guitar really well. It would have cut down on the headaches of trying to figure out what guitar to buy.
    You've got a point as well about other companies who charge as much and more but don't innovate.

    The problem with this guitar is that the Ibanez Prestige AZS series exists, their take on a Tele-style guitar. For $2k new ($1000 less than this), you get stainless steel frets, a roasted maple neck and the modern sound capabilities thanks to the dyna-mix sound switching system. And you even bring that guitar up at the end of the video! I'd like to see you try one. Maybe you can contact sweetwater and ask if you can get a loaner guitar to try in exchange for a plug?

Much lower price, but a good deal, overall. If they're available in the US, I'd be very curious to see what you think of them - I think their introductory line is like $550-600 USD? I paid in yen, but I know they're overseas now too. They've got "Classic" and "Modern" lines without and with body contours, different neck joints, pickups and switching, etc.

But I own an Ibanez AZ prestige model, and this PRS Miles Kennedy felt amazing to me. I really appreciated the feel of the chunky neck. I'm also a fan of the Silver Sky, and love the way it feels and sounds, but this Miles Kennedy model just made its way onto my short list of "must have" guitars. I think Paul is the greatest guitar hype man of the modern age. Like the Billy Mays of guitars. He BELIEVES in his products.
    What I admire about him is that if a reviewer is critical, he will watch it and ask to come on and discuss it. Figure out what went wrong. He’s not afraid of critical press.
    He’s less visible now than he was, but their reputation is now solidified by Mayer and the Silver Sky.

    IMHO, the best Tele is your spec Warmorth neck and body (pine or ash), your pick of Fralin, Lollar, pickups, and early Tele or Esquire wiring. My bias favors six saddle bridges and vintage slotted, tuck hole tuners. Production model, I'd go with G&L made in USA custom ASAT stuff.

    great explanations- not really a tele- but an awesome guitar- sounds very “PRSy” - but - better than most PRSs - l really love this guitar and it’s very sonically pleasing- and the neck, body, and saddles are greatly thought out- the pickups…the switch…oohhhhgh…

    I liked the detail you provided with the neck. For me, the feel of the neck is the most important thing and what I pay attention to with reviews. These 2023 prices are out of touch with reality. Not many people could afford a $2000 guitar 3 years ago. My guess is most people still can’t afford $2000 now and $3000 is laughable. Not many consumer products have gone up 33.33…% in 3 years. Not 1 component in that guitar costs 33% more now than it did 3 years ago. I also doubt PRS is paying their employees 33% more. Maybe in 5 years, average yearly wages will increase enough for these 2023 prices? The markups with guitars is out-of-balance with the economy.

    Another brilliant review, Dr. Fludd. I must admit PRS guitars play amazing well and in tune - only Parker's rival PRS for playing in tune! I own more teles than anything else and prefer the original two pickup design. I do love the 72 deluxe (?) with the McCarty designed wide-range humbucker, also used on the 70s starcasters. If PRS made this model ergonomic like the sTele I would be sorely tempted as PRS guitars almost play themselves! The only detriment to modern guitars for me is that after years of playing Fenders I now prefer the original 7 and 1/4 inch fingerboard radius along with the traditional chunky C, or even U shaped necks. I also prefer vintage frets, or low/wide jumbos - what we called bass frets in the 60s and 70s.

      I don’t know, 90% of guitars from any brand can play in tune perfectly as long as they’re set up correctly. Maybe they’ll need a little visit to a luthier but still. Good setup goes a very long way

      @@alexjackson8841The quality of the nut is a huge factor in tuning, if it has great tuners but a cheap worn-out plastic nut, it's gonna suck...but that shouldn't be an issue with a $3k guitar

    Is it possible to change the pickups for a humbucker in single shape ? If not then for me it is problematic . Even in Fender teles people like to change the pickups for more vintage or modern tone . That said - I'm surprised that the push-pull knob doesn't boost the volume , which is a good news .

    I wouldn't have expected something like this from PRS, seems like a very interesting guitar compared to a traditional telecaster. Have you ever tried any guitars from Legator ?. I would love to hear your opinion on that brand. I recently bought one.

    In the pickup variations part beginning about 10.30, do you have this the wrong way round? The graphic is saying you start at the bridge and end at the neck, but you actually do the opposite.

    Nice review. I would personally never pay that amount of money for a Tele style guitar, but I also don't really feel that it's a traditional tele either. There can be some comparisons made like you mentioned, but at the end of the day it is a morphed tele "style" guitar. On a side note, I don't think these guitars look pretty either.
