    It is so very uncommon, nowadays, to find on TH-cam such high quality organ content. Beautiful videography, great sound, and the excellent performance of a well-dressed organist. No surprise that this channel is a winner, there is a lot of thinking and work behind this result. Thanks very much 🙏🏻

      Richard, I agree with DP above. Appreciate the suit and tie. Adds a lot to the performance. Viewers and listeners take you far more seriously when you dress like the professional you are, IMO. Thank you for excellent content, and for the hard work it takes to provide it.

      @@beautyinsound And I'm so glad you're wearing shoes. I'm tired of these young guys playing without shoes. It's so tacky. They need to get organ shoes with really thin soft soles. Just a thought. Your performance was great. You're a pro!

    You are so fortunate and blessed by God almighty to have such talent and skill. My favorite organists have been the likes of Daniel Roth, Mr. & Mrs. Durufle, Austin Lovelace, Carlo Curley, Diane Bish, et al, each having a unique style. It seems that you have taken the best of each and have made for yourself an inimitable style of your own. You are truly a master of the instrument. Thank you for posting.

    The majestic tone of the organ combined with the sensitive playing have produced a performance which is now my favourite. How did Bach produce such music? Heaven on earth.

    Sometimes I think Bach's Preludes and Fugues are perfect for an orchestral type organ like at St. Martin's...certainly the St. Anne....it as Bach composed it to played in the future, now...Richard is one the finest organist I've herd. I consider hom world class and would love to hear him play the Saint Anne at St John the Divine in New York....the stops on that organ are the best I've herd...Richard you'd be the perfect organist to play at St John....you are quintessential....

    So fantastic! How do you get this wonderful organ sound on every video no matter what organ? I am not an organist but had an organ major friend when I was a piano major. I got really hooked to Bach organ but it might have been the Virgil Fox concert I saw live when I was 15. Anyway I learned to fix the ciphers on the pipe organ and would play preludes and fugues on the organ late weekend nights when it was empty. I had forgotten how great the fugue is, of course triple fugue, number 3, trinity. It reminds me of the F# minor fugue book 2 with that running 16th note subject. I love the pedal cam. Your registration is just excellent, you make the organ and Bach sound great, a real treat. One request, can you record Westminster Chimes on the Wanamaker organ, that would be so great, thanks. By the way, Schoenberg orchestrated this one, has cymbal crashes and trombones and I think triangle.

    • @leonardeast3389
      @leonardeast3389 ปีที่แล้ว

      "St. Anne" is just a "nickname" given to the fugue. It's because the 7 notes that comprise the first fugue subject (heard alone at the beginning) are exactly the same as the melody of the first phrase of the well-known hymn tune "ST. ANNE" ("O God, our help in ages past"). It can be a little hard to recognize, because in the fugue, it is not played in all quarter notes, as it is in the hymn tune.

    NICELY DONE ! ...
    ... is a huge understatement ...
    This is SUPERBLY REGISTERED, ARTICULATED, and PERFORMED!
    It sounds like you're playing it with "cathedral ears" rather than "Hauptwerk ears" ..
    ( ... "cathedral ears" inform a performance that is in synergy with the actual acoustics of an actual live cathedral room -- as opposed to "Hauptwerk ears" which render a performance that sounds "almost as if" it's being performed in an actual live cathedral room ...)
    This has now become my "go-to" instance of this piece.
    (I would still like for you to perform the Gigue fugue with a proper "tah - dit tah ... " legato articulation ... ;-)

    • @beautyinsound

" articulation (similar to what you did when you first sight-read it ...) --- I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how it sings -- highly transformative -- NOT your typical YT "dit-dit-dit-ty" :-) I think the instrument, tempo and registration of the recording you just did was perfect -- just change the articulation ... -- :-)
