Brilliant guys. So many life lessons and issues raised and discussed. And that's the crux of the matter - it doesn't happen enough any more. Failure is an opportunity to learn and all of us fail at some time or another. I could go on but best stop. Why do I get up in the morning - there is always something to do. Topic suggestion as you have the platform - men's health.
Some good conversation and points to ponder. As far as the trucking industry goes- they are making it more and more difficult for the smaller companies to make it. The bigger companies can lobby for rules and regulations that make it almost impossible for the little guy to stay afloat.
I think whatever you guys do is special you're the real, l like seeing farmer Chris on the Podcast, I've been over 40 years in electronics, until this day since retirement I have not needed an alarm clock still up at 1:3-2:00 o'clock in the morning
Thanks, for another podcast. Real people talking about real things without drama. After closing my business I have gone back to a cheap flip phone and half the time I don't know where it is. When I was trucking I had two cell phones, a satellite phone, an IPad and hot spots for Alaska and Canada and usually nothing worked right when needed. When you have a dumb phone you don't constantly look at it either and life works just as well, but it does work better than a rotary dial pay phone and a sack full of change. What gets me out of bed? Aches and pains and night mares.
Gentlemen, as I sit here, and listen to your podcast I have to say that you hit the nail on the head, from kids today from and to the politicians. Both want something for nothing . politicians very few actually work for us, both there in Canada and the USA. They work for them self's the longer their in their, they come from a working man's salary to millionaires by manipulating the system to benefit them self's, and not us
My dad worked his whole life farming. I rode lots of miles with him in the tractor. He passed away at 37 and I realized really fast that family is all that matters. He missed lots of events because he had to work. I have vowed to be there for my daughter from the day she was born.
My problem is I've had chronic illnesses for 25 years now. Chronic fatigue and/or fibromyalgia. No matter what I do I pay for it. I shovel snow for my elderly neighbors, or use the snowblower - the reason is I like to help people out. I pay for it every time - just shoveling my house is enough to cause a flareup so I just charge full steam ahead. I've been on disability for 20 years now and I have yet to figure out something I can realistically do - it's to the point where just the maintenance on the house and cooking takes the majority of my energy leaving little for me to use to have fun. Sometimes it's not a stumble that you face, it's landing flat on your face after you fell off a cliff. Sorry for venting, just more then a little worn out from it. I hope everyone is well and stays healthy. P.S. in my opinion and others that I've read the pandemic has entered the endemic phase where we'll probably be seeing different strains for the rest of our lives. It's just like there are variants of the 1918 flu that pop up.
When life serves you lemons make lemonade. You can't fix the past and you have to play the cards life deals to you. Whining about it is for losers. You're an inspiration! Keep charging ahead.
That’s very inspiring. Says a lot about you that you will still help your neighbor, even being aware of what the consequences will be. We need more people like you.
I like the honesty. We are, in my opinion, are raising educated idiots, idiots because they don’t look beyond their point of view resulting from a focused subject from an education without the experience to back it up, a mind is like a parachute, only works when it’s open, success is a balance of education and experience. Stay the course gentlemen. One of greatest vids on you tube, in my humble opinion.
Just my opinion but I would rather watch and listen to you guys that are working blue collared folks telling the way that it is other then the damn tv that fills the world full of bulls***. You folks do your best to explain things to the best of your ability and if you don’t know you man up and say I don’t know. Appreciate this pod cast and your channels. Thanks Peter! Personally when I listen to podcasts I have to do it in blocks. I just write down the time I left off and come back to it when I can. Glad to have you watching and thanks for commenting! Enjoy your week!
Chris I was told by John Deere salesman that is an instructional seat for them lol. I totally agree the world does need to have more kitchen tables and no phones at the table. Really love this podcast.
He’s a wealth of knowledge and we’re very very happy to call him a friend. Hope to have him on regularly in the future. Thanks for watching and commenting, David
Regarding the discussion around schools at 24:45 or so. The issue and the challenges and failures of our education system deserves a lot of discussion. The current state of our education system is the direct result of who has been elected to boards and legislatures for several decades and policies that have sought to undermine public education. Schools didn’t decide independently to remove shop class, home economics and other real life courses. It was done as a result of budgets being cut and public support for public education dwindling. It’s f we want an improved and effective public education system then the public needs to start paying attention and supporting public education and stop blaming all of society’s issues on the education system without offering solutions. As you described you need to dig in with business when things look bleak we need to dig in on education and make sure the next generation is getting educated to succeed.
Anything you learn from isn't a failure. Only lessons on how not to do things. Things that we live through yet don't work out. Only teach us life lessons. Money will come and go. Money doesn't determine success. Success is in what we learn.
Here’s another thing to look at. Every decade there will be a crash of some sort or another. 2000 we were told that the computer age was going to crash and change how we were going to life. Then in 2009 we had the financial crash. Now we had the 2019 covid which shut the world down. So now we are coming through that. So what is it going to be in 8 years. Love theses podcasts. I live in the uk and it’s pretty much the same here as it is there.
You’re exactly right. If you look through history no era was perfect or without suffering. Just have to keep our head up and put one foot in front of the other. If we don’t, who will, right?
@@afewpointsfromperfect you are exactly right there. The government’s what to keep control of what people are doing. We have a price raise on gas and electric. Plus fuel ⛽️ prices are very high here too. We pay £1.45 a litre here for diesel. Like you, we have problems with food being on our shelves.
Mike you are so self driven. You couldn't stand ever working for someone else. It would drive you nuts. No matter if what they are doing is right or wrong. God bless
The problems are pretty simple in my eyes. Stop asking government for help. Stop spending money you don't have. Except for people like Chris. If you need money for business that's different. I'm saying don't spend money you don't have on things you don't absolutely need to live. Such as people who think they always need the new cell phone. God bless
One thing that I have noticed from these podcasts, is there is a message that people can learn from. These podcasts are spoken from the heart. I will agree with the statement, there are a lot of educated idiots in the world.
We’re doing our best to give a good honest non bias conversation. It’s hard sometimes and we’re only human. But we’re trying. Thanks for noticing, Thomas
I do agree theirs not a short change in this or anything. It's for the future of all our kids. I also agree it takes team work from both parties. No party is 100 percent correct.
Hey Chris, explain this: Why is organic products so good when it is so wasteful to produce them. We have a conservation plan to keep 40% ground cover, and organic producers till soil multiple times and still grow more weeds than crop. Also the FSA has grants to help fill out paper work to transition to organic, but are supposed to encourage good soil conservation?
We have a fairly commonly used expression here in the UK that tries to highlight this and millions of other similar daft ideas and behaviours and it is called "A complete lack of joined up thing and actions"
I did not say organic farming was good or bad, I think it has its place. When you here me say organic fertilizer, I’m referencing animal waste, manure. We do not farm organic, but we do notill 95% of our crops and use cover crop programs on the majority of our acres. All of our ground is HEL, highly erodible land, so use we are on a conservation program also. Check out Rick Clark, he is a organic farmer in Indiana that notill plant into cover crop on 100% of his 7,000 acres. Now doing tillage and cultivating all summer I don’t see as sustainable Ag. We do use “organic” fertilizer ( manure) on about 70% of our acres for other reasons than being organic farmers. Hope this helps.
@@farmerchris1 Chris, Thanks for your answer. I, too was 100% no-til last year on 1500 acres of corn and soybeans. We use cover crops on about 400 acres. Grew our own cereal rye and wheat. I just think that the way I see organic practiced in our area it is not sustainable or soil improving. I don't think the general public understands this at all. Thanks for your effort to educate your viewers. FYI 830 acres corn ave. 240, 650 acres soybeans ave. 69. We put turkey manure on 300 acres of our sandiest ground.
Jason from what you're saying about your business you didn't know what you didn't know. You had answers to questions, but didn't know what questions you needed to ask. The last podcast with Chris waas great, and this one is no disappointment either.
It was a learning experience for sure, and I’m grateful for the lessons it taught me. I think we’re going to have to talk Chris into becoming a regular guest.
@@afewpointsfromperfect Farmers are the most down to earth people I've ever met and always have stories to tell and information to share. I've known several, from hobbyists all the way to hundreds of acres and never failed to learn something when having a conversation with them. I guess there's something about keeping your hands in the dirt and being outside that keeps a person grounded in reality.
Jason just to add to your point. Of the city person versus the country person / farmer. Check out NASAs new finding. Corn produces more oxygen than a rain forest.
Great pod cast Alot of your comments can apply to the average person that doesn't have a business but just trying to make a living. So much h of what you've said I've seen in my or others life ,just trying to provide
You’re absolutely right, if we can stir up constructive conversation that may help just one person in some aspect of their life, we’re pretty happy about that. Have a good week thanks for commenting!

The best meme for me is my wall paper on my computer. It has a picture of two cave men sitting by a fire. The third comes in tells them to put the fir out. Because global warming is real mastodons are dying off. People still haven't figured out. The reason we don't still live in an ice age. Is because of global warming. The earth runs on cycles. Lol God bless
Another great podcast guys!!! I know you guys try to shy away from politics and understand why but y’all always end up kinda touching on it . It’s not something you can help , damn politics unfortunately is affecting everyone and everything. #ruralamerica Is the driving force for us all
Amen Ben, amen. And it’s a really really deep twisted and confusing subject. We don’t feel it’s right to cover it if it’s not going to be in depth, also bias will undoubtably come out so then we’re not delivering a true honest conversation. Best shy away from it for now. Rural America is the backbone of the country. The working man is so much more important than most give credit to. It’s a shame. Anyways thanks for the comment, have a good week, Ben
As long as the people in government are making so much more than the average person they will always feel like they are better able to make decisions than the people they are representing.
Term limits all I will say yet that could be bad to but terms of 8 years I think would suffice cause it takes a bit longer than 4 years to get things going correctly
Agreed. I kinda like 3 terms all the way around. As you said it’s bitter sweet but all good things must come to an end too. And hopefully can vote out a bad apple before the limit if they’d only come to us for the solutions I’ll tell ya
@@afewpointsfromperfect 3 terms of how many years. People are bad to start making lots of money and forget why they are there in the first place. I personally don’t fault anyone for it but you do need to recognize yourself what you’re forgetting. You move to a position like that you’ve gotta learn how to think bout others first ya know get humble and be as smart as you can be. I’m sure we could go for hours on the subject. DP I think knows how to make it a bit better he don’t wanna go into politics on here as I don’t blame him one bit. Thanks for the reply’s it’s been fun
The pain of this loss and guilt / failure lasts for years and frequently for more than 1 generation! It is one of the reasons why the suicide rates amongst farmers and similar business people is so high and rising. In addition just watch what has and currently is happening as a result of the 2021 drought in the mid Western and NorthWestern states. The situation is truly dreadful and will be ongoing for several years ahead assuming weather conditions return to "normal" and this has nothing to with the size of the farms and precious little to do with how well they farm.
That’s kinda what I was thinking the whole time but didn’t know how to come about it, missed goal or failure is not worth life, I see to many young farmers or businesses men taking their own life, it’s just not worth it!
I live in the rural state of Oklahoma which has 2 major cities, Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Before retiring to live in small city of 31,125 (as of 2019), when I told people in OKC that I lived in Shawnee, they often said "So you live on a farm?" The cluelessness was amazing. Regarding education and intelligence: You can receive an education and not be intelligent., but you cannot be EDUCATED without intelligence regardless of where you receive your education be it school, trade school or real world experience. (Just my opinion).
Herman, I would agree with your view on education versus intelligence. As far as people, I think a lot of it is just ignorance. Not meant as disrespect, just really not understanding. And I think the issue is that people don’t want to understand other cultures, even just regional lifestyle changes. It’s sad really, maybe they just need to travel some and experience it for themselves. Who knows. Anyways thanks for watching and commenting hope to see you in the next one!
Greedy is hard to fix and it’s all about me me if people can’t help each other it’s going to stay the same sorry to say i live in a rule area and we help each other out my grocery stores I go to are mom and pop stores that are still around here
You can pick your friends. However you need to live knowing that family may not be your friends. I've never bought into "because family" as a valid excuse to do anything.
For your postcast on what gets ya up outta bed everyday I wanna know how you keep your backs healthy every operator I know has bad backs or something. What are you doing with that or do you not have a bad back or bad body in general??
When you send your children to school to be taught the liberal points of view, and they are more concerned with which gender your child would like to be than teaching them to be a productive, honest, hard working person. We are now reaping the result of the seeds that were sewn all those years ago..
Listening to this podcast has enlightened me to the fact that if I ever go to business for myself I’m A1 F’ed. family way small friends are not many. Kinda hits the chest like this new bio terror illness going around… where’s Lt Dan

Another good job 👍
Thanks, William!
Good stuff 👍🏻
Thanks
Jason just to add to your point. Of the city person versus the country person / farmer. Check out NASAs new finding. Corn produces more oxygen than a rain forest.
Great pod cast
Alot of your comments can apply to the average person that doesn't have a business but just trying to make a living.
So much h of what you've said I've seen in my or others life ,just trying to provide
You’re absolutely right, if we can stir up constructive conversation that may help just one person in some aspect of their life, we’re pretty happy about that. Have a good week thanks for commenting!
We never allowed tv Sunday night thru. Thursday
I might just have to write that one down for future use
I just looked it up...
Jerry is at 30,000 views Watch Wes Work is in second place at a respectable 17,000 views. Sorry I wrote this before Jason announced it.
No worries, someone’s gotta keep me in line mind as well be you, Tom haha. Thanks!
you should keep the podcasts going all year.
Laurel, we would love to, and if it’s somehow possible we will. However busy season hits very soon and until next year we’re still 12 hours from each other. The remote thing works, but only so well. We shall see. Thanks for watching along!
Cash and flow two words that do not always match ,had vendors pay 90 -120 days
Stuart, you’re absolutely correct
I can't imagine being the guy who loses the farm that's been in the family for generations that's got to hurt .
The only way to hedge your bets is cash! Invest, invest, invest!
Greedy is hard to fix and it’s all about me me if people can’t help each other it’s going to stay the same sorry to say i live in a rule area and we help each other out my grocery stores I go to are mom and pop stores that are still around here
Jason.... Proximity cell phone killer. And you know how to disable your WiFi!
Trickle down F-Enomics
You can pick your friends. However you need to live knowing that family may not be your friends. I've never bought into "because family" as a valid excuse to do anything.
For your postcast on what gets ya up outta bed everyday I wanna know how you keep your backs healthy every operator I know has bad backs or something. What are you doing with that or do you not have a bad back or bad body in general??
Will add that to the list! Thank you for the suggestion!
Why does Jasonworksalot not on TH-cam anymore
Life got really busy and hectic. Planning to come back sometime in October. Thanks for watching along

You didn't get your participation trophy Chris. Email your address and I'll send you one buddy. Lol God bless
Chris, don’t be discouraged, just realize that there are many things to be considered, and many angles to look from. Make sure your business plan is as foolproof as you can, and be willing to sink your heels in and do the work you’ll be fine! We wish you the best!
