Growing in the 70's, I hated this music so much. I saw older people sways to the song while drinking Gulder, Harp, Star or palmwine. Now I'm 50 and love the song so much. The song and others like it must've been too philosophical and mature for me at 8.
I'm in same shoes.. Just that I'm in my mid 30s.. my father was very very old in his 90s when I was given birth to.. So ds type of songs is part of me.. I grew up listening to it
Please my elders, if anyone know the name of the song where Baba sang "Abimbola ti bi ibeji o" I will appreciate it. It's a favorite of my late grandparents and I will love to listen to it in remembrance of them. Thank you very much.
I love Baba Legba's evergreen music like kilode. It's my late mum of her blessed memory's favourite music. Infact is all omo Eko's music. RIP BABA LEGBA.

Wen Eva am listening to this music,I feel for Nigeria cos wen we were young listen to this music, Nigeria wasn't like this....God wil help us in this nation.
My dad told me the story. In the past, it was believed that various musicians did not only show their musical prowess but also jazz as well. He had some enemies within the music ecosystem...fellow musicians, rival fans, promoters etc... Then he was "spiritually attacked" in his leg which rendered him almost useless until a fan (Adebisi) put money down and flew him to London for treatments. Luckily for him, he got well. Now, one of the rules of war is that you pretend when necessary and never show your enemies your cards. He could have still tied a bandage (fake at least, with some fake blood or so) on it and limped back into the country...Instead, he came back and sang this song....that the leg you thought would kill me or get amputated was not cut and I am alive and well. The illness on the leg came back and eventually killed him...
