But in the series Narcos they showed that he really did not want to leave Colombia (probably also to do with having a big ego and thinking that no one could touch him). And that ended up costing him. He could've easily been living the good life in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Cuba or some other place in the Carribean. He could've maybe even returned to Colombia after 10 years or so.
