as a teacher and psychotherapist I run trainings and workshops on proactivly managing behaviour in schools and I mentor schools and indervidual teacher in proactive problemsolving with students. It's a good side gig

@@mills6702 you can start by counselling in schools - I have a Bach and Master of education alongside a Master of counselling and psychotherapy and have been consulting for my government in issues of behaviour management for years prior - so I am in a unique position to do this role.

@@mills6702 THAT IS a great question, which I hope she answers. I wonder if you need to put something together that you can present to individual schools. Go around to talk to the staff and pitch it to them?

I'm super interested in any and all advice you have on the topic of side hustles for therapists. I've really struggled with enjoying 1:1 therapy work since coming back from maternity leave and am feeling the strong pull to diversify my income. Thanks for your help in advance. I love your channel so much :)

I'm a full time public sector psychotherapist (UK). I have a side hussle which is not anything to do with my therapy work. It's a creative etsy business and is a passion project turned business. I struggle with maintaining therapy work full time in the gruelling public sector so this allows me to work with my hands and have a break. I'd fall hard without it.

I hate that therapists have to think about this.

There is where I am at. Pre-licensed clinicians can only market ourselves as a coach

I recently finished my practicum and officially launched my practice and started advertising a month ago, but so far haven't found one single client. At the moment I'm doing some casual gardening work during the day and delivering pizzas at night to keep myself afloat - for better or worse, I live in my van, so that keeps my costs a bit lower.
That said, I've had a couple more experienced therapists tell me recently that the field is way oversaturated with practitioners and that there aren't enough clients to go around anymore (west coast of Canada). So I'm feeling extremely anxious that I just wasted all those years in school and went into all that debt for nothing. Scared this career isn't going to work out after all. But trying to stay patient and positive...

I'm in Michigan and totally understand. I got in touch with the local hospital behavioral health department and told them I was open, what insurance it took, and that I had availability. I got my first 5 referrals from them and periodically call to say thank you and I get more.
