@@jonathanturbide2232 that isn’t true at all. His feud with Borne imo was far more gripping. Borne was immensely over as a baby face. Piper was a tweener with heel leanings back then, he & Rose were too similar. Borne & Rose seemed like authentic heat, especially when Tony Borne became involved.
@Marc Basil Well sorry, ask anybody and they'll say that Buddy vs Piper was the money feud of the Portland territory. It lead to a huge loser leave town match and that feud drew more eyes on the territory than anything Borne ever did.

They were entertaining, but that wasn’t legitimate heat The Rose-Borne feud saw Rose freaking marrying Matt’s sister, attacking his father, generally degrad!ng & insulting his family, their infamous sit down segment on Portland’s Live @ Noon talk show, and their insane 20 minute Lumberjack match, which was better than any of the matches that Piper & Rose ever had. To compound all of this, Matt was Portland’s favourite son at that time, especially amongst the female demo.

Even on the Mid-South dvd set produced by WWE in 2013, Duggan took a shot at Borne (and Ted mentioned on the dvd that Matt and Jim never got along). Watts turned Duggan babyface in part because him and Borne couldn't coexist, even though the Rat pack was a big money maker for the territory. 😂
I was watching Vice tv about What happened to Doink the Clown on youtube and someone in the comments said that there was a backstage incident where Duggan was in a relationship with Matt's ex-girlfriend or something where it lead to Matt trying to hurt her, and Duggan came to her defense and beat him up or something. I don't know if this true or not. Can someone confirm this???
Duggan wasn't selling any of Bourne's offence. That's what led to the fight in the ring. Duggan is known for being a lousy and selfish worker who goes into business for himself. The guy never sells anything and never puts anyone over. Bourne finally had enough of Duggan's no-selling and punted him in the head during the match. My favourite Duggan moment is the match against MDM when Andre punched Duggan in the face from ringside and busted him open.

Matt was great in Mid-South Wrestling too! I loved his finisher at that time, "The Bombs Away", off the top rope.
