- From 6 November to 8 December 2024, the Light Dome exhibition will come to life again in the Biodome of the Budapest Zoo. Building on the success of the March event, an even more spectacular and completely new light art programme will be presented.
The works in Krisztián Nagy and Csaba Molnár's series, constructed from special mirrors and invisible light sources, offer an immersive and dreamlike visual experience-the direct descendants of medieval magic lanterns. These pieces captivate attention through the mystery of light. While they reveal a certain minimalism, their strength lies in the mesmerizing complexity of structures built from simple forms. The radiant compositions evoke cosmic associations, offering a deep spatial experience, as if pulling the viewer into the image. Light, emanating from an indeterminate direction, draws concentric shapes and spatial grids, with spirals and light sources reminiscent of mysterious cosmic phenomena.
The magical geometry of the NagyMolnar duo’s works, with their kaleidoscopic shapes and forms, seems to conjure distant planets and galaxies. Their visual world carries elements that may reference physical laws or color theory fundamentals. The combination of simple geometric shapes and primary colors creates a coded system that reflects the heuristic creative process behind the compositions. The revelatory power of their works emerges from the tension between the defined and undefined nature of the visuals.
