I have had the chargriller for over a year now and love it. I only use it camping. Sits in the garage otherwise. I have done steaks, chicken, ribs and porkbutts on it. Perfect outcome every cook.
I've done well over 500 cooks probably closer to 1000 on the Char-Griller and I'll say it has served me well!!!! Everything from quick cooks to long smokes of ribs and even small Butts... for the price you can't beat it. I added springs to the dampers for little tighter seal and a real thermometer. She is about to give up the ghost after 10+ years only because the rails that guide the ash pan are done. As a PK360 owner I really want the PKGO but for 3x the cost I'm thinking I will buy another Char-Griller!
You did a good comparison. Did you know that OKJ as a grill called the Hitch? It is pretty much the same thing as the chargriller Sidekick. Designed to either be a portable grill or a firebox for an off set. I realize the rambler is what you have though.
I used my Char Griller Side box for a BBQ party and it worked great , Cast iron grates left perfect grill marks on the steaks and chicken and rabbit came out delicious . Everyone was satisfied with the food that was served . Thanks for the video , had mine for about 15 years and still going strong . Nice heavy duty side box for the Outlaw Smoker !
About how many people did you feed and did you do a lot of grilling for the party? Just curious cause I was considering the char griller and planning on cooking for a somewhat large group.
Today I cooked about 4lbs of kalbi beef ribs at highest charcoal level, then dropped to the lowest level for some thick sirloin steaks on the OK Joe’s. Was all great! I agree with you with that adjustable charcoal tray not being a gimmick. Only problem is that tray will warp. They do provide a free replacement when it does.
The chimney might've been fixed without the gasket tape. Your supposed to put the chimney up through the lid. Not attach it on top. I have no leaks in the chimney but I do around the lid. Im going to order some gasket tape for that though
The adjustable charcoal basket on the Oklahoma Joe's Rambler is a deal-maker for me. I would reverse sear a steak on the Oklahoma Joe's Rambler like this: Cook indirect on the left grate with the basket at the lowest level and as it hits 120°F, baste it with butter, raise the charcoal basket to the highest level and give the steak a good sear directly over the coals by shifting it to the grate on the right, 90 seconds on each side. This maneuver can't be done on the Chargriller.
Great recommendations tom! Im not creating my own land of grills so im not buying but it would be great if you had a website or discord server for a list of what you recommend and dont
Sorry, as a chef and restaurateur, your descriptions and culinary info are erroneous. Review is informative but not terribly accurately. Grills are tools, and techniques and skillsets make up the differences.

Great review. Just a note that they sell the CharGriller SideBox Portable with legs and a shelf as the Char-Griller Patio Pro for $99
Thanks for watching Joe! Appreciate the information

Tom…where did you get the temp gauge for the chargrilled side box? Please forward the link if possible!😊
Thanks for Watching Robert, I took it off the MB portable charcoal grill

As I’ve stated in previous videos, the stack did not fit well from the underside of the lid. Fit best with the gasket as I have it
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ oh sorry I didn't see when you said that. It sucks when things like that happen
I like the slide as well, I use it on my M16. It’s the best, I love the slide 🤩😍
Winner is very clear and simple. We are on the same page
Thanks for Watching Eric! Agreed
If you had to choose which one would you have?
They both work well, the SideBox is cheaper
Everytime , you make my mouth water Tom .

What type of gasket would you use?
