9:00 the Lady here says that she continues to forgive "Herself". Just a little tip for everyone, in my experience this isn't how it works. If we go back to the Lord's Prayer that we say in AA, "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive others their trespasses against us". This is exactly how it works, as we forgive God's children, God will forgive us, not them. If you work your 9th step, sometimes there will be a person who will forgive us as well, but most of the time people hang on to their resentments and still hold a grudge against us. We don't forgive others simply because we want THEIR forgiveness, we forgive others because we seek the forgiveness of God and he will grant us forgiveness if we forgive others. He will lift those heavy burdens from our hearts and minds and that is the reward of God's forgiveness. In exchange for our forgiveness, God grants us peace, which is true love, his love.

With respect, I am from Australia and we don’t do the Lord’s Prayer!
We close with the serenity prayer and as mentioned, the Lord’s Prayer is not in my BB, until I forgive me I can start to ask for forgiveness. God bless.

Much of our self defeating behavior comes from our OWN feelings of being unworthy, so self forgiveness is important. After all, if you forgive and love yourself it doesn’t matter if others do or not but if others forgive you and you hate yourself you will keep punishing yourself. Just my two cents.

@@ProdavackaDivu No one has the ability to forgive themselves, it doesn't work that way. You can forgive yourself a million times, it still won't work. There's a golden saying, you reap what you sow, and it's stood the test of time because it's true. When you learn to forgive, to humble oneself to forgive another even if they don't deserve it, so too will you be GRANTED forgiveness. Indifference is not forgiveness, you can try to forgive yourself all you want, it never works.

Forgiving yourself is much harder than asking for God’s forgiveness. God gives His grace so generously, while many of us beat ourselves up again and again for past mistakes. Repeating mistakes is one way we punish ourselves when we can’t forgive ourselves for the heartache we’ve caused.
