Milbro Metal Slingshot - IS YOURS A 'REAL' ONE?

- In the face of some misinformation and even a couple of scammers, who were after fooling folks into thinking that they had an OLD frame for sale, Adam Rayner presents the WHOLE truth about how to tell a reproduction MIlbro catapult from a copy version. i.e. One made in homage by skilled foundry-men and thus keeping the brand alive through decades of senescence!
Well, I reckon I am now pretty well informed to be able to tell exactly. The NEW Chinese die casting can clearly be seen to have a 'generation loss' of reproduction detail. Like a BMW Mini... 'it's still a real Milbro'. It just means some fans will have a difference of opinion.
i am 60 years old now and when i was 11 year old i actually got 50p a week pocket money for doing jobs around the house etc , and i actually bought one of the originals , unfortunately i was young and stupid and got it taken off me by my old man cos i put a marble through a neighbours window had loads of fun with it up to that point , i recently got back into catty,s and keep hm,ing and arhh, ing about buying a copy , best ten bob i ever spent imo
Where do you get the plug things to fit a flar band to milbros

Good video and subject, so many chancers on the groups either insulting people's intelligence or hoping to rip new people off
Yes mine definitely is. Had it for over 50 years.
I love this ones !And one Day i buy one !
The square bands on the newer reproduction frame are dangerously bad. I went for a mooch with my new one and shots were flying off in all directions anyone standing to my side was at more risk of taking a hit than any potential supper, then the polycord loosened at the pouch. Lucky I always carry some repair essentials in with me BBs. Went straight back and ordered some silicone plugs to fit OTT theraband
I am on record as saying they are not fit for purpose and added my own suspicion that this was to limit litigation!
What are good bands to put on the new style milbro? Thanks
You can use skinny tubes with the WASP plugs, or flatbands with the plastic plugs, or you weld paracord loops. All in Slingshot World magazine and on the website..have a clicky on the links in the description.
nice collection , ill bet the newer ones are china made
You'd win the bet.
I thought I would never see one again a Warden thumb grip catapult it had round solid elastic and its rubber pouch was moulded to the elastic I guess its all rubber bought mine in 1968 or 1969 for 3 shillings and sixpence that's 17 1/2 pence in todays money took me weeks to save for it. No more tree forks, square rubber from woolworths ,and cutting up mum's old leather gloves.
My one has on the back 32891-45. Is this a real original?
the number is reproduced with the rest... this aughta equip you to be able to tell.. patina versus detail
Really great video! Good info!👊
What plugs are you using on the brass one with green bands? Can you make a video about them?
They are a plug made for tubes by WASP. Available on their website.
@@SLINGSHOTWORLDTV thanks!
good video thanks for this very helpful
Glad you liked it
I had no idea these existed.. a whole new world 😄
Very informative honest and true to the point
Got one of the repros recently scrapped the band's it came with straight away and fitted T band gold set wrap and tuck method thin leather wrapped around handle whipped on and it's a cracker... For a tenner can't go wrong. Must find my original from the 70s though in my mum's loft I'm sure.😃
BANG on!
Never liked these style catty’s. They used to have horrible square elastic on them, and you couldn’t hit a barn door with them. Modern flat band catty’s are a world apart from these. These should be in display cases as testament to how far catapults have evolved.
Read the magazine!! THEY OFTEN ARE!! I am on record agreeing with you!
Help please!! Viewed this video with interest after finding my vintage Milbro 32891-45 catapult in an old box. I used this back in the late 1950's-60's. It is in great condition with the original rubber cords still in place. Could somebody give me an idea of value please.
If the wooden collets are in place - then it is a collectors' item and good for at least £30. If you have the carton, a lot more.... if just the frame, about £25.
@@SLINGSHOTWORLDTV Thank you for your quick reply. I remember buying this new for 5 shillings, Wish I had kept the box !!
