A super rare vintage MRE sent in by TUA1911 - huge thanks!
Much like the US Food Packet Long Range Patrol Ration, this freeze dried ration had outer package damage and still held up incredibly well. Certainly worth a look.

Hey everyone, it's great to be back with a couple new reviews. This incredibly rare and never before documented Canadian LWP (Lightweight Patrol)
and another interesting little ration - the Taiwan Type C. So check that one out too. I also have a 1979 Food Packet Long Range Patrol that I'm sharing

Great show Steve my mom was Canadian from Navasota. She came here in 1958. Met my dad who was a Marine. Then got married in 1960. Dad went to Nam in 1965 -1968. He loved watching your MREs shows.

You know ... along with Steve's stunt stomach and the fascinating facts and figures behind the rations... slightly ahead of the catchphrases "lets get this out on a tray... nice!" And "nice hiss..." has got to be the catchy spoon tune... different every time. They should all be edited into a sign off at the end before the closing credits theme... I love them!

Hey bud, i'm retired CND forces. Those extra whiteners where a god send! Two of them on damp wood could start a fire about 75% of the time.
They fed us these in 1992 (literally) when we were doing winter survival training/camping in the Air Cadet corps.
The sounds of Steve hitting spoons on glasses though... makes me smile every time

Halloween candy I remember that gum from my childhood lol . The sifto salt and pepper also ....the sugar and matchbook looked cool . I love watching your videos buddy your awesome . Sometimes I eat rations with you . And I remember buying some in army surplus stores as a kid ...the older Brown rations from the 80s and 90s .

That ration is 36 years old and he's eating it like a three day old bologna sandwich
Wish you had some from about 1959 or so. My dad was ever so briefly stationed with PPCLI out in Edmonton. Unknown mysterious reasons he came home quickly, of which no one will ever tell. I wish I knew the truth about it all... but I'd LOVE to see something from around that time frame. He was born 1939 and his mom signed for him to go join PPCLI at age 16 (I believe). So I believe that was around 1955-1957.
Really don't know why, I smile every time I hear the spoon tunes.

I came across your channel a ~6 months ago (maybe) while I was stoned, so now whenever I get stoned... like everyday.... I make sure to have your channel on before I smoke so then it's just on bc I'll forget what this channel is called. I'm subscribed, but I just forget your channel name. I always describe it as the guy with the beard and does MRE reviews and eats old ass food and hasn't died yet.

Why does canada even have a military?
The US military uses our stuff so often because theirs is overbuilt. Humvees can't navigate narrow streets in many middle eastern areas. The US P-8 LRP planes can't even touch what the Canadian Aurora P-3 platform can do. And they do it all without a massive war machine budget.

Oh god, compo Rolos! In hot weather the foil would stick to them and was impossible to remove entirely plus the toffee inside would leak and get on everything and in cold weather they would turn to stone and would take about 10 minutes in the mouth to be chewable.

So, the takeaway here is that that thing is older than I am and the essential parts (entree and coffee) are still perfectly edible. Freeze-drying... fuck yeah.
It's not in this video but we have been watching you for a while and I keep trying to get some sort of mre with the jelly rolls in them but never can. I've been wanting to try them forever. I was wondering if you have ever tried the chuckles jelly candy and how it compares taste wise to the ones in the MREs. We love your content!!
