There was a lady beggar in Dumaguete, she had a small baby in her arms she approached me and asked me for money because she was hungry, I told her I'll buy her food and not give her money, she said no she wanted money I walked away, had a foreigner friend who told me he had a hamburger he just bought, a beggar approached him and asked for money, my friend gave him the hamburger but no money as he walked away he turned and actually saw the guy throw the hamburger away, be careful with panhandlers its a syndicate that controls them, even the blind are placed in the streets and panhandle by these syndicates, the Philippines is the worst country in Asia when it cones to honesty.
What if he wants money to feed his family with home cooked meals not a hamburger? He might fell guilty eating that he wants for his family. Makes no sense for an adult male to be apart of any disadvantage syndicate, all the beggar children I see were all spending it on candy and while not a good use of the money it's wasn't to a syndicate
@@Henry-j5t Oh BS, if you're really hungry, you'll eat that hamburger, or take it home and share it. If you're out to scam money, and not really hungry, you'll toss it out. Feeling guilty? Ha! Sorry, I don't see much of that here when it comes to taking handouts. True story, I was waiting for my friends outside with my daughter in a parking place next to a mall entrance. A scammer came up to me and told me he had 5 kids and no money, that his wife was ill etc, etc. When I told him I have no money because I'm supporting my wife's family he went over to talk to his friend, and they laughed together like they hadn't a problem in the world. I also noticed he had a nice I-phone. Didn't really strike me as someone in desperate need.
I wish i saw this before my first trip to PH. Now I know with taxi's always use the App Grab to get a safe driver and fare, never give kids money (we fed them McDo but still, better safe than sorry), and to never follow taxi drivers. One time, a group of men told us to get into their car because they were a taxi service but they weren't. A little yelling by me got us out of a bad situation
Yikes, good thing you guys avoided that. My family only uses Grab. It's way safer and definitely less sketchy. And I'd say feeding them food is without a doubt better than giving them money because w/ money, you never know where that's going to 💯

Try before you buy. If you are able explore other potential countries, both in SE Asia and elsewhere. Keep your options open. Even in the Philippines, not all places are the same. The big cities, Cebu and Manila are the most expensive. Much appreciation for this video.
The old Bullet in the bag trick ("Get Smart" reference).....This was still a thing back on My 1st trip in 2015 but I think it stopped shortly after that time
Absolutely yes there are a lot of scammers out there the good the bad and the ugly yeah tell me about it thank you for reaffirming my believes scammers are everywhere.
Thanks again for good advice and tips. However, I understand the bullet scam at the airport NAIA was ended by the current Duterte presidency. Child beggars, yes I've encountered them even in Makati City, but usually in the less desirable, safe and less developed Poblacion barangay, home to the red light district centred around P. Burgos Street. But not around CBD Ayala triangle, Greenbelt Malls area, or high end pockets, like Rockwell Center and Century City. Also I'm lucky never to have seen them in BGC or Mc Kinley Hill .. for me always feels safe in these latter areas even later at night in darkness. But there again these areas are some of the most expensive, westernised, or internationalised pockets I suppose in the entire Philippines. But great advice to consider if visiting or thinking of living in the Philippines.
Yes, happened to me in Boracay. Bought a bottled water that was for 70 pesos, but I only had 200 pesos bill. The guy said he’ll be back for change, but never did.
Why open a business in a 3rd world poverty stricken country? Foolish wasting your money, better you just budget like I do and I saved allot of money, in 3 months Im going back to the USA for good, been scammed once by a Filipina, lost a house and lot but never again.
thank you sir. I was going to sell all of my properties (farms and apartments) to move to the PH with someone I was speaking in PH. They were trying to get some "allowance" from me because of family reasons.
Can you feed the kids? I could not let kids be hungry, I couldn't - and my friends there who are Pinoy do everything to feed little ones who are near their place in CEBU.
On my arrival, I meet taxi scam at the airport. There was a lady coming to me when I walked to the airport taxi bootha and acted like airport staff and offer taxi ride to the place. She was in uniform, told me she is airport staff, show id and asked where I go. Showed me the tariff of travel cost to locatiom of each city. She called someone taxi driver maybe and charge me like 40+usd for 15min. So Be careful, Pls always go to taxi booth and ask for the taxi or take a grab taxi
Shoot, I already spent like 2.5k US two weeks here. I will never hold back, I came for safe fun , but Manila is expensive. Leaving in the boonies is for many Americans who never got ahead in the US. Filipinas need to be careful for those. They would not bring back their wife to the USA . Can’t afford them. Never experienced any of this. Jeez you are scaring people
Maybe their are scammers not just in PH but this are apply to all countries, PH are safer to live than the other places. .0000000000% scam and 1000000000000% big heart from pH who are really going to help you without anything in return.
At the end of the day, if you're aware of what's going on, you could decide whether or not they get your money. If you want to help them out, go for it. But chances are they're going to continue doing it to others that aren't in the same financial position as you.
This is how my mom met her ex-boyfriend. Mom was at a remittance center filling out forms to receive my sister's reward for good grades. She was next to a foreigner who was confused about the form he had to fill out for a charity he wanted to give money to. My mom thought it sounded fishy so she saved him from a scam. He bought her coffee as thanks and they hit it off. Too bad their religious differences was enough for their dating to not end up in marriage.
Very informative, helpful video! One of the best. PS, a friendly word of advise to older men like myself, if the lady giving you attention is not at least getting close to age 30, don't fool yourself.... I know! LOL. [Bonus credibility points for her if she is a single / widowed mother]
Mine was a taxi cab driver. He did not use the meter, even though we asked him to. We then had an agreed upon price, which he changed and increased, as he claimed our luggage was heavy and weighing down his vehicle. He then stated, that since we had less than an hour to get to the airport, he doesn't normally go fast, so he increased the price again. An utter scumbag, but he knew the desperation of use missing our flight, so he took advantage of it.
Thanks. Back then cell phone cameras were not common and we were informed to always use the meter. We had no idea a driver would agree, then keep it shut off when we were already on the way and change the price twice. He also wasn't driving fast either. He just came up with an excuse to increase the price.@@Inexorablystoic
If you want to become an expat learn one word and be able to use that word before traveling to the Philippines, that word is NO! You ARE NOT obligated to pay for nobody's food, rent, clothes, electric bill, beer etc. If you meet a Filipina and she wants you to buy this and that or pay for her families bills, dump her, block her and move on. I've been with my girl here going on 5 years, never once has she asked for money, and she works! There are some good girls over here but it may take time to find that one so don't be in such a rush. Remember, learn to say NO over here or you may wind up on the streets, homeless and broke....not a good place to be in a foreign country!
I will just add to that... 1. If she asks why after you said no just say, "I never explain my reasons". Give her a reason and you have given her grounds for arguing. 2. Say no but always say kindly and respectfully. No need to say with anger.
@@TheSavvyExpat Maraming salamat sa payo mo. Just hoping I can see my girlfriend in Davao soon. Also I feel like I will be one of the youngest foreigners being only 20 years old
Honestly the only scam i had to deal with when i went back home to the philippines for the first time in 10 years were the airport taxis lmao. The bitch tried to charge me for 3000 pesos, So i went outside NAIA and called uber and the estimate was only 250-500 pesos. The ride only cost me around 300 pesos so I gave the driver 200 pesos tip since he got me to my destination quite fast plus a great conversation. If you give me honest price then you will get honest tips
How about family scams? No one ever talks about life in the Philipppines from a Filipino expats POV. So why don’t you do one from the viewpoint of a Filipino expat with relatives who still live in the Philippines, and return to the Philippines to visit, or to live/retire back home?

Thanks you for the 411, amigo. Hook up with a Filipina with a heart of gold and your life is golden! Hook up with a Filipina with a heart of stone and your life is hell! (This applies to women everywhere, of course.) I suggest following the "Two-Year Rule:" Never make a major decision (i.e., relocation to a foreign country or marrying a foreigner) without considering the decision for a minimum of 2 years. This (usually) assures that you're thinking with the head above your waist!
You forgot an important one, the "taxi driver that runs aways with your luggage" scam. Solution: Use "Grab" as soon as you land to the Philippines instead of taking normal taxis.
I'm a Filipino. I saw an american talking about seeing john cena somewhere in america i think. With a VERY YOUNG FILIPINA. How do old americans get engaged with not a minor but young Filipina?

Your messages are positive and I’m staying subscribed 😆. I loved the comment where the guy said he’s unsubscribing. Lol! Drive on brother drive on!!! 👍🏾✌🏾🇵🇭. Keep it going.
Nice content!
Thanks!
If you are moving here just because of the vlogs, consider you have many other better choices. Probably, you are already in contact with a woman online. Be very careful to not commit too quickly. Try before you buy. If you are able explore other potential countries, both in SE Asia and elsewhere. Keep your options open. Even in the Philippines, not all places are the same. The big cities, Cebu and Manila are the most expensive. Much appreciation for this video.
The old Bullet in the bag trick ("Get Smart" reference).....This was still a thing back on My 1st trip in 2015 but I think it stopped shortly after that time
Thanks for this video. I have someone i am talking to now and I am Skeptical.
very informative .
Thanks Forrest
Well done young fella.
No... Bloody well done. Top marks.
Good video.
Always have small bills. A lot of Filipino like to short change you or say they don’t have change thinking you’ll just let them keep the change.
Yes, happened to me in Boracay. Bought a bottled water that was for 70 pesos, but I only had 200 pesos bill. The guy said he’ll be back for change, but never did.
Yup. I go to a bank to get change. My wife has a bank in Philippines so I just use hers
Your video is so truthful. Many filipinas are great, just some are not.
very valuable
Do agree with you Sir
Thanks Jalal
always i get in the philippines are those untrusworthy taxi drivers.......they ask more than what the meter says..............
Exactly. Got to be careful with them.
Make sure the meters on or use “grab car”
And they never want to give u your complete change. So annoying!
Good video, especially the opening about the Filipinas
Thank you anak!
Best scam to avoid is marrying one..next is buying a house, lot, condo. 3rd is starting a business. Avoid those 3 at all costs and you might survive.

Fell down 40 flights of stairs. 😆😂🤣😁
How about if you are use to this type of situation and have the money to do it
Not everybody is short on cash
At the end of the day, if you're aware of what's going on, you could decide whether or not they get your money. If you want to help them out, go for it. But chances are they're going to continue doing it to others that aren't in the same financial position as you.
If you found this video of value, be sure to leave a like and subscribe. Appreciate you Savvy Expats!
So, it's like Chicago. Or Detroit. Or Washington DC. Or any other number of US cities.
Too bad their religious differences was enough for their dating to not end up in marriage.
thank you
Very informative, helpful video! One of the best. PS, a friendly word of advise to older men like myself, if the lady giving you attention is not at least getting close to age 30, don't fool yourself.... I know! LOL. [Bonus credibility points for her if she is a single / widowed mother]
Good advice Jim 👍 Glad you enjoyed the video
One that is hard to avoid that never happen to me but heard, pnp pull over and say pay or arrested for drugs..
I tell them no and drive away
@@chuckh4077 I will be catching grab/non self transport
Will it be ok to put a padlock on your luggage so that way no one plants a bullet?
I don't think that's totally necessary. Just keep your luggage close to you. Also that's not as common nowadays I hear.
@@TheSavvyExpat Maraming salamat sa payo mo. Just hoping I can see my girlfriend in Davao soon. Also I feel like I will be one of the youngest foreigners being only 20 years old
@@walkingtalking123 wow. You're definitely in the younger age bracket. Wishing you good travels 🙌
Mabuhay welcome to the Philippines
Thats a good one Cameron.
Dude your so funny ,I enjoy your sense of humor ,I been to the Philippines, at lease 15 times, and the girl I met on my first trip ,still keeps in touch ,and asks for $.
😂 that's hilarious. Dodged a bullet there.
Lol 😅
Resort world casino cafe they dun return or delay the money after pay the bill
We will tips well
Also be careful of pickpocketers. They are everywhere in metro manila. Go north or go south, and your valuables will be safe 100%.
I hope my wife is genuine; she doesn't ask for money but works. My bag went missing flying Maynila - Cebu full of meds.
Please could you tell me if you're still together?
There are still a lot of honest people in the Philippines notwithstanding according to my personal experience.
I cant understand what he says about the the 3rd reason about social media... 03:07
Thanks you for the 411, amigo. Hook up with a Filipina with a heart of gold and your life is golden! Hook up with a Filipina with a heart of stone and your life is hell! (This applies to women everywhere, of course.)
I suggest following the "Two-Year Rule:" Never make a major decision (i.e., relocation to a foreign country or marrying a foreigner) without considering the decision for a minimum of 2 years. This (usually) assures that you're thinking with the head above your waist!
Spitting absolute truth man 💯
Well that took a turn
The money scam we've got that hear in America to! Don't have to go their fo that!
You forgot an important one, the "taxi driver that runs aways with your luggage" scam. Solution: Use "Grab" as soon as you land to the Philippines instead of taking normal taxis.
#1 is straight up legit
I'm a Filipino. I saw an american talking about seeing john cena somewhere in america i think. With a VERY YOUNG FILIPINA. How do old americans get engaged with not a minor but young Filipina?
I went to the plaza because there is a festival going on right now, I got scammed for 140P
Someone fell down 40 flights of stairs!! Lol
Ai you know one thing so many scams I think Philippines is the place to go! If you want to be scammed! I think we got plenty of that hear at home really do not need more experience with scamers hear they try to get you at home without Evan going out of your house!
My neighbors wife was drugged a couple of months ago in the Cancun, Mexico area. Luckily her daughter carried her back to the room before she could be kidnapped.
They were pretty sure it was an employee at the resort who drugged her.
That's crazy. Especially to think that Cancun is big tourist area too.
@@TheSavvyExpat The planes all land at Cancun, so I call it the Cancun area. It was a smaller town down the coast toward Tulum. The police refused to come to the resort to take a report. They would have had to go to the police station. So you know this is big money and some of the police are in on it.
To be fair to Cancun I believe their police keep a tight watch on crime, which is the way I like it.
@@TheSavvyExpat We use to own apartments in Belleville, Illinois, which is about 15 miles east of St Louis. We would have drug sales in our parking lot and nothing was ever done. One time we had license plate and the wife wrote out a long report and actually took it to the police station. The cop in charge said she would have to rewrite it on their report form. BUT it might we wiser to Drop It.
@@LR-je7nn Yep. A lot of the cops in Mexico are corrupt. What a shame. It's good everyone made it out okay though.
@@LR-je7nn That's insanity!
They keep asking me for “boom boom”? I don’t know how to boom boom anymore. 😅
Everywhere in this world have scammers not only in phillipines
Just don't give anyone a large amount of money. That's it. The end.
well to prove my salary i send her my Contract of Social Salary - its not worse cause she can not use this its from germany BUT never send an Identity paper man
If she calls you AFAM... RUN!!!
What's that?
@@TheSavvyExpat It is a term meaning "A Foreigner Assigned in Manila." It has become a pejorative amongst Filipinas who lean more towards the 'scamy' side of dating foreigners.
@@American_Mike ah definitely... Red flag right there
The dinner scam happened to me I. India!
NOTE.....not all Foreigners are rich...and...not all Philipinos are poor, whatch out..
Lots of scammers you will experience in the Philippines, so be aware
A guy should simply see if he can have a chance to date some of these girls several times. Then he should go home. Any further investment of time would likely put him at risk of getting scammed or left with a broken heart.
Scamming is a sport here. Even within the Filipino community. So beware!
Yep, go to be vigilant.
It’s culture
This guy is spot on. Notice at the start he says " Not all " pinays. He had to say that to avoid the hate from the dumb filipinos that would have hammered him in the comments section, saying NOT ALL.
You get it! Thanks for watching Craig
the bad will scame from money. the good will backstab and steal the money.
food panda and grab is what everyone should have
all the filiponas at strip bars describe the first scam. Bish we didn't go to a strip bar for a relationship, now dance and take money.
Like first date she brings her whole family
i got scammed by fe carpentero aka olivia monique davies aka mallory aka holly ect.ect. she married a brit while we was together
Anybody trying to scam me in the Philippines will be dealt with severely
thats just the way it is all around the world
Also boys not only girls
True, but I'm referring to the majority.
Yep I married a Filipino 😁
