    That’s a very happy looking Dalek (well as happy as any Kaled can). He’ll be off exterminating and conquering the universe in no time 👍🏻

    • @PBProps

      He is... and he's no longer Billy No-Mates, he has two other friends to start an army with. I'm keeping my eye on them though, don't want any trouble from them. Not now anyway.

    Nice to see he's ready to plumb and weld again. Very much impressed with these cottage industries who provide all these little bits to keep those treasured possessions intact. A truly nice conclusion.
    Watching this brought back memories of a Dalek bubble bath I had as a child, he was black all over, with a yellow dome/eye stalk and the plunger and gun were on a rail witch slid in... I lost count the amount of times my brother glued the eye stalk back on.

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never had the bubble bath, but a friend did. I was always envious of him having it!

    Great to see it finished, and it's wonderful that it reminds you of your Dad in such a nice way.
    It was years before I realised that this wasn't part of the same range as the Denys Fisher Tom doll, I'd always assumed they went together!

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it was nice to see it completed, though it was slightly tinged with sadness, but I'm over the moon to have it back - and I am quite sentimental anyway.
      Like you, as a kid, I thought this was part of the Denys Fisher range as well. To be honest, I prefer this Dalek over the actual DF version, it just has that certain something.

    thoroughly enjoying a RE-watch of your videos & came across this video again today. i Remember this toy fondly myself ( and the K-9 especially ) Your model looks really good and i kinda wish i still kept mine., but -hay-ho. Looking forward to following your advice and customising a few things of my own soon as well as some new content from your good self . take care :D

      Have fun with the re-watching! Why not pick up a "no so great" condition Dalek toy from eBay, like I did, and breathe some new life into it? It'll be quite rewarding, I think you'll find. Best of luck with your projects.

    I used the same appendages for a dalek I got and as I said in my last comment I used your video to get it talking again.

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      These appendages are pretty good and do the job of getting the Dalek looking complete, though my only issue with them is that they're not for the Palitoy Dalek, but a completely different toy - which is why you have to modify them to get them to fit. I may upgrade them in time, but for now, they do a fantastic job! Again, I'm really glad that you got your Dalek up to spec and working once more.

      Well, I'm glad that you think so. It's often that, with personal videos like this one, that I wonder if it's appropriate putting them up because I do wonder if anyone beyond me will be interested in them. I'm acutely aware that not everyone likes this kind of thing. But I'm really happy that it's been positively received.

    Always wanted on of these Daleks and K9 as a kid. Never got one. Had the big Denys Fisher TARDIS. Used to think they were all part of the same toy line for many years.
    These replica parts like these have become a bit of god send. Yeah we would all like the original. but those can be expensive and there is a chance they could be fake. As with some of the vintage Star Wars weapons there is a lot of fakes going around.
    haha And good call of the tooth brush! Always good to have something back that has so many memories attached it it. Great video.

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had the TARDIS, The Doctor, Leela, K9 and these types of Dalek when I was little and I have managed to track some of them down again for extremely good prices, which makes me happy.
      There seems to be some consternation about the replica parts in some collecting circles in that they are "fake" and are thus untrustworthy. I for one don't care about them being replicas as it's the look and feel of it that I was aiming for, not the authenticity of it all being original. Mind you, there are some sellers who sell these Daleks on eBay where the appendages are clearly replicas, as is the box, but they try to make out that they don't know how genuine it is... If they raise the issue, then they clearly know and are taking their chances.
      Anyway, I'm pleased that you liked the video and the story that I had to tell.

    Ooo very slick. A script methinks? 😂 (however I do like your... rambling in the other vids) And good to see your family had one of those horrendous 2 door escort estates, god I remember being trapped in that metal prison on many journeys from London to Scotland ☹️

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For this video, I wanted a much tighter control and to stay on point, so yep, a script was written. I think I got up to seven drafts and still changed it as I ad-libbed throughout. And yes, we too did long journeys in ours; sleeping bags in the boot and us kids inside them as we drove to Yorkshire... you couldn't do that now without feeling the firm grasp of the law tightening its grip around your collar!

      Buy her a new toothbrush? There's nothing wrong with her old one as technically it was given a wash in all that hot, soapy water - and I rinsed it off in the end, I'm not an animal, you know! ;)
      Regarding the videos, they are difficult to make as it's all me doing the work. Often I'm shooting blind, plus I'm having to not only concentrate on getting the shots, but also having to think about the thing I'm making and that normally takes means the filming gets slightly sacrificed as I have to tend to the piece, rather than the camera - especially when things get difficult.
      I often wish that I had someone to help me out, let alone get some equipment like lights and so on. In time, things will change. Hopefully! In the mean time, I'll just struggle along and hope no-one notices that often I'm having to wing things.

    Very heartwarming to watch. While I don't own any now, I strongly associate the whole Denys Fisher and Palitoy range (I had the lot!) with a happy childhood home before events went in other directions, and I was never quite so happy again. So, I get the sentiment, for sure. Enjoyed all your videos so far - will look forward to seeing more in 2019. Merry Christmas!

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you. I think as we get older, that we get more sentimental - but there's nothing wrong with that, I guess. We can remember happy times from our past and look forward to new happy times in our future too.
      As for the videos, I'm glad that you've liked what you've seen so far and hopefully in time I can finally get around to doing bigger and better projects, a few things need to happen first, but I'll get there. Thanks for your support!

    Interesting video, I wonder if the Daleks were at a reduced price, as I am sure Palitoy stopped making them in the 70s.

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No idea whether they were on sale or not, I just remember this one shop (Tandy's of Ryde) where we bought them, had a glass wall cupboard full of them and they were still there in the mid 1980's.

    • @AshtonArcher
      @AshtonArcher 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PBProps Wow, they must have got a job lot of them. The original price point in the mid 70s was £4.50, but even judging for big inflation I would assume they were about £5 (or less) back in the 80s, especially if you were buying one quite often!

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't quote me, but I have a strong feeling that they were £3.50 each, possibly a bit less even. Each time two were purchased, one for me and one for my brother and this was over a number of years - maybe three or four. Could be a little more. We ended up with a fair number of them in the three colour schemes up until around 1987 - when they were all thrown away. I talk about this in my Nostalgia Cabinet video as well.

    The Acme 3000 appendages are moulded from the Louis Marx Dalek, which is why they’re loose.

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I know... They actually don't fit the Palitoy Dalek at all and you have to shave the boss ends down to get them to seat properly, rather than them being loose. I talk about this in the "My Nostalgia Cabinet" video. Thanks for watching though!

      @PBProps  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks and yes, I'm using the mic that I got for my birthday. Previously I was using the camera's on board mic and because it's front facing, the lower register of my voice is often missing because I'm stood behind the camera and it doesn't pick it up. Slowly I'm working on getting things to where I'd like it. Good ear too!

    The use of your wife's toothbrush. Did you get the idea from 'Marty's Matchbox Makeovers' Channel? He often used his wife's toothbrush to remove paint loosened by paintstripper, and once showed a picture of his wife smiling - her mouth looked like a burnt-out fusebox... 🤔🤔🤔😆😆😆

      Well, I can tell you what they are; 1963 box (Hartnell), 1966 refit of the 1963 box (Hartnell to Tom Baker), 1977 box (Tom Baker), 1980 box (Baker, Davison, Baker), the 1977 box returns briefly for three stories in a refitted format to make it look like the 1980 prop, 1986 box - duplicate of the 1980 box (Baker to McCoy) and finally 1996 box (McGann).
      Hope that helps you.
