It's unfortunate he had a terrible knee injury after this but before Olympics 2010. I presume after the injury he had to loose his body weight so that his knee could cope. Look at how much slimmer he became in 2010 and after. That probably also meant he had to relearn his jumps in different ways. Still he stuck with the sport, won a bronze medal in that Olympics (first ever for Japanese men), gold in World Championship shortly after (first ever for Japanese men), and kept skating all the way to Olympic 2014. Legend!
does anybody else think that his LP this year is kind of boring? i mean, he's packing on the content, but its just not doing it for me. and he gets so sloppy towards the end.

Technically, this is the best I've ever seen him do. I've never seen him hit two quads in a program before.

なるべくしてなった世界一もうすごすぎる
ジャンプはこの頃がピークだったのですね。苦手とされているシットスピンもなかなかいいです。つなぎやスケーテイング、音楽との同調性はこの頃はまだまだで、バンクーバー前後から急激に上手くなったのですね。確かバンクーバー以降に試合で４Fに挑んで両足着氷している映像を見かけました。ジャンプも苦手だったわけではないのでしょうが、一時に全てをそろえるのはなかなか難しいことなのでしょうね。

今見るとものすごいジャンプ特化の駄プロだなあ。高橋君のせいじゃないんだけど（じゃあ誰→モロゾフ） 曲の編集はむちゃくちゃだし振付らしい振付もない。
大怪我から戻ってきたあとの演技を見ると、スケーティングも表現も別人のように成熟していったのが分かる。
２０１０年、バンクーバー後の大ちゃんははるかに進歩しているのがわかったよ。ただし、４回転ジャンプ別として。
