I see that you were shifting without clutch, I assume by closing throttle. Is that right, or does it have additional quickshifter? Did you experience problem with false neutrals? I was riding only S version and quickshifter did have the problem with false neutrals from time to time. However nobody can confirm to me if shifting without clutch is even possible on this bike and if it does solve the false neutral problem. Btw. nice video, I like your style of riding, great rev matching downshifts ;)
Hi! This bike didn't have quickshifter, I changed gear by closing the throttle for a fraction of a second. I experienced I think two false neutrals in my fifteen minutes with the bike, but I think if you get used do be more decise with your foot the problem goes away (never found a Ducati without this problem). Changing without clutch should be possible with every bike theoretically, and thanks for the compliment! :)
I think you would suggest to ride this bike with urban mode, if you do not have enough experience like me. I am thinking to get this bike and I was told that sport mode on this bike needs a lot of experience. What do you say about that?
I would say that if you don’t have much experience you should go with an 821. I have 12 years on bikes and still will not use all the power of the bike on the road. Urban is not fun, you loose all the torque. 821 in sport is much better even if it has just a bit more power
@@Axe991 Thanks for the reply mate. 821 sounds fun too. I guess I would ride 821 for couple of years and then switch to 1200 or 1200s. I hope for you to have safe ride all the time.
It seems to have a lot of torque.Could you ride around town in second gear all the time or would you need third?I know you only had a short ride, but your best guess?
+TheJtkirk I usually ride Ducati bikes keeping them in the low range, they are fun there. But I guess you could just use second and third for almost everything
E a quell'altezza l'hai trovata comfortevole? Ciao!
I don't think the 2014 and the 2017 models have compatible exhausts, not even slip-ons. Right now the best choice, but also the most expensive one, would be the Akrapovic. They have the best sound and are in a partnership with Ducati.
I sat on the new 1200S at the show here in Toronto and was so uncomfortable. I've wanted a Ducati for some time now and the Monster I thought was going to be it. I've soured on the bike and have started looking elsewhere, Then you show me this and that sound: what a great sound. This is what drew me to Ducati and twins in the first place. I will go and test ride one in a few weeks.
Groagun The Monsters have always had a sportier riding position than other naked bikes, this makes them uncomfortable if you're not used to it. I personally prefer this position and the standard more upright one feels strange to me. I also have to say that the new 1200 is the bike I've had the most feeling with from the start. If you have the opportunity you should definitely try it, you'll be able to make a more informed decision 👍
I'm totally with you on this. I am not looking for the bolt upright, almost adventure riding style or position. I'm to old and fat to do the hunched over clip on Panigale position so the Monster is the perfect style of bike and riding position for me. I will take the Monster out for a test ride this spring/summer but my impression, while just sitting on it was not good. The Triumph Street Triple was just so much more comfortable. I'm so in love with the sound and idea of owning a Ducati but I cannot afford to make the mistake of only listening to my heart and ignoring my head. If I was a rich bugger it wouldn't matter: I am not so my choice has to be the best one. We'll see.
Yeah, following just the heart can result in problems later. But if you love Ducati (as I do), you can also try some other generation Monster, there are some subtle differences between this and the older ones, but the general a bit forward position remains a constant. Or you could try a Streetfighter. Consider also that you can adjust the seating height and that there are different seats and handlebars available (but I don't know if you can try them before buying. Let me know what you'll do :)
Good review, no bullshit opinions, no music just pure bike sound....nice
Thanks man! :D
Like I said, demonstrates what the bike does without all the garbage speak and crap music, goes well, turns easy at low speeds and looks good :)
Thanks for making this video. I really felt like I was driving it :D
no problem man! Thanks for the feedback!
U don't drive it u ride it 😂
nice sound it has!
Absolutely!
what a sound! great
It's fantastic, I'd love to hear one with a full Akrapovic exhaust!
Nice Video !
One question
How tall are you ?
I'm 1.74m for most of the world, 5'8.5" for the weird Americas

Hi mate, which one has a much brutal acceleration, this or the new honda cb1000r from 0 to 160 km/h?
I think they are similar, very similar. It’s a different kind of acceleration, but they’re both brutal.
@Home Home I think a little bit more the Monster
my neighboorhod had a ducati streetfighter 1200 with termignoni carbon exhaust... oh my god!!!
I love that bike!

1200 have quickshifter or only s version?
If I recall correctly it's an option on the base model and stock on the S version

Ciao!
Can you install quick shifter to it ?
I think so, but I'm not sure
Yep! You can! Sweet :)
I've just bought one. Looks like most aftermarket exhausts for the 2014 - 16 model don't fit this. Have you seen any that do? Apart from the termi...

What kind of Exhaust is this?
+Hessenbubb 92 it's the stock exhaust 😊
this bike have QuickShifter? or it's an option?
+Xavi Molina neither the standard nor the S have the Quickshifter, but I don't know if it's available as an optional
