Hov saw Dot in this performance and it's a no brainer. He can easily cross over to ALL audiences and powerful performance!
That year was the first (and only) time I've ever watched the Grammys and holy crap. I never really cared about Kendrick before that because I avoided radio music like the plague. I smoked and once Kendrick came on, I was blown away at his lyrical prowess. Maad City became one of my all time favorite tracks from then on and that's the only thing I even remember from that whole show.
I remember watching this. It was AMAZING! And the next act was some country western act that totally threw ice cold water on all of that energy. You can see that Tumbleweed restaurant-looking cactus coming up in the lower right corner. 🤣
