So much of an improvement! *sarcasm

    • @Mac14329
      @Mac14329 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      You don't have to use sarcasm to get your point across.
      And it doesn't go like that. The purpose of this scene was to prove Timon and Pumbaa's notion that everything moves in a meaningless line is wrong. The truth is what Mufasa told Simba; that we're all connected in the Circle of Life, and that everything exists in a delicate balance.
      Besides, it wasn't just "fur being rolled in dung by a beetle". If you'd been paying attention, you would know it drifted off into the Pride Lands, a bird picked it up for its nest, but its mate threw it out, and was swallowed by a giraffe while it was browsing. After the herd left, some time later, a bit of the giraffe's dung was rolled around by the beetle, which then broke, freeing the fur, allowing some ants to carry it to Rafiki's tree.
      Not to mention Rafiki's lesson to Simba happens long after this scene.

    • @Thenumber1yoshi
      @Thenumber1yoshi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@Mac14329 No his lesson never does happen, because they don’t use the stick until the final fight in the finale so there’s never any moment where Rafiki says “The past can hurt, but the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it!” It’s more important that he teach Simba that after he talks to his father’s spirit as that’s what finally convinces him to return to Pride Rock and take his place as king.
      Even if you’re right and it happens later it doesn’t fit with the later scenes because it’s crucial it happens after Simba talks to Mufasa’s spirit otherwise it makes no sense, because why would he need to be told that after he returns? Just admit that the whole “It’s a line”phrase Timon and Pumbaa came up with is blatant padding to make this remake unnecessarily longer, as all it accomplished is what the Hakuna Matata scene and musical number scene already did with eating bugs.
      Not to mention we already had a scene where it shows they were wrong and how Simba had forgotten who he was, it was the stargazing scene with Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa, where they laugh at Simba’s notion that the great kings of the past look down on them from the stars and Simba agrees that with them that it’s “pretty dumb” that already accomplished proving Timon and Pumbaa being wrong and getting the point across about how Simba has forgotten who he is, we didn’t need another one with “it’s not the circle of life, it’s a line” as padding the film is all that scene accomplishes!

    • @Mac14329
      @Mac14329 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Thenumber1yoshi Yet again, another unnecessarily long comment.
      The message of the original film didn't cease to exist because of this.
      And the scene with Simba's fur going to Rafiki and the added Hakuna Matata scenes is NOT padding. Proving Timon and Pumbaa wrong is NOT padding. I know what padding is, and this isn't it.

    If Rafiki spoke in English, this scene would probably be 100 times as emotional. I believe the reason Rafiki isn't as energetic as he was in the old film when he learned that Simba was alive, is because the writers seemed to make him older. Listen to how he laughs at 1:49, sounds like he got a little bit older. Seriously though the voice actor in the last film was such a blessing, he was the reason Rafiki is my favorite character in the Lion King, that scene was so amazing. This voice actor speaking in a different language was interesting and made me half smile, but the 1994 stomps this into the ground.

    I've avoided watching this remake for the sake of preserving my childhood... this two minutes alone did irreparable damage.

    • @memesarecorny

      Idk why this movie is getting so much hate. A difference had to be created between humans and other animals.
      Other animals can't express emotions like humans do. There was an attempt made to show the emotions by animals(in the movie CATS) and that was a major flop.
      I think the Lion King remake is better. People who are saying it is worse than the original have not watched the original.

    • @Mac14329
      @Mac14329 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      No, it didn't. It's not "irreparable damage". If you don't like it, then don't watch it. It's that simple. You can always just watch the original. It still exists and is still one of the greatest films of all time. The remake isn't going to change that. And even if you watched it, your childhood could still be "preserved".

    However, one thing that both movies didn't do that could have made this scene a perfect 10/10 was have the scene be longer. Like, having Rafiki doubt how Simba its alive, and then finding some evidence like how Mufasa told him about Kiara and Kovu in the sequel, nonetheless this is my 2nd favorite scene of the remake.

    Am I the only one who thought this was agonizingly underwhelming? In this one the music is peak but the performance is like he's too exhausted to lose his mind over it. Whereas in the animation when the score goes up he's shrieking with laughter and just completed knocked out of his tree. I just found this scene painfully emotionless.
