I love this picture of domestic life in the home of a well to do. And the little child looking on may well have been a child of either of the working women, since the wealthy children would most likely not be where the work was being done. And the child looks like they are also wearing a whitle apron, so may be expected to help out where ever they could. Thank you for the peek into this home and their domestic staff! As always, a pleasant few minutes of my day with the Barnes Takeout!

This painting is just so lovely! It does really give the impression of a moment in this woman's daily life, suspended in time, that I am privy to see. Thanks so much for these insights! Love them!!

What a treat to get to view art, and learn about various artist's works from the Barnes Foundation curator! Had not heard of this particular artist before--very enjoyable to see this incredible work and to hear Ms. (Dr.?) Kang give us a tour of her impressions of the painting. Thank you for one enjoyable way for us to spend indoor time.

I've got a copy of a chardin, how can I get it valued?

More, more, more. I know you know more about the artist and the buyer, Dr. Barnes. So, you talked about the sound, how about the smell? And who was Chardin in the scheme of things, err, art?

I enjoyed your interpretation but this is not at all how I see this painting. The smell of that meat would make this room anything but tranquil and calm. Fetching water that most likely would be used in many places besides the rooms close by screams of the hard work that is ahead of the woman. Her own sense of dignity maybe shown in the skirt's colors, surely a bright spot in her life. I am certain that your version is the version accepted in the world of curators, but I am going to have to respectfully disagree.
