    • @AbidNasim
      @AbidNasim 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@RD discipline The guidance thing is not a claim. It is the genre of the book; it is about your life after death. The Islamic elevator pitch is that God created a universe running on physical laws and then put man in it, endowed with moral sense. Those who live life morally, will get to enter heavens. Creator can boast; created's humility is a moral virtue. But you're right about Muslims' not having read the book, and perhaps even about them believing what they're told, and that is rather unfortunate, IMHO.

    • @AbidNasim
      @AbidNasim 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@RD discipline According to my reading of the book, the soul is breathed into the baby in mother's womb around 120th day or so. Upon death, and upon every night during REM sleep, that soul is taken; restored if life is to continue. Even the soul without body may be able to dream; it may dream a nightmare, or dream an ecstatic dream. Rules of this life are different than rules of the next life. Here sex is limited to marriage because our children take forever to grow up; so parental units need incentive to stay together. This life is a test: test of patience for those in trials and tribulations, and test of gratitude for those given abundance. Evil is allowed, for free will to be exercised, but the consequences ensue. Perpetual abode in heaven has been explicitly spelled out in the book, but whether hell is perpetual, God is silent and the silence is subtle.

    • @AbidNasim
      @AbidNasim 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@RD discipline In the Book. God talks about when another creature is born, around the 4th month of pregnancy. Nightly taking of soul is also in the book. Soul dreaming is also in the book. For instance, the Book orders us not to call the Martyred dead, it insists that they are fed though we may not understand it. As for heavenly rewards and purgatory punishments, the what and why is mentioned but not necessarily the how.

The preservation of the Qu'ran: Facts.
The messenger of Allah had 18 writers to write the verses as soon as they were revealed, so he supervised the whole process, as Allah the exalted made him teach mankind, but himself was prevented from being able to read or write.
The full written Qu'ran was stored at our mother (Hafsa) the Wife of the messenger, however the muslims never needed them as virtually nearly everyone memorised the Qu'ran fully.
However After the Messenger's departure, and many of the Messenger's companions departed this life and the rest spread in world, as well as series of non arab nations started to embrace Islam, so muslims were fearful that these millions of people may not pronounce the Qu'ran correctly, so Caliph Uthman formed a committee of the Messenger's companions, and formally produced the first Qu'ran book, using the Qu'ran that is kept at Hafsa's house as well as the committee are full equipped with the full memorization.
    And called book (Muss'haf Al-Qu'ran).
And they sent a copy to Iraq, Egypt, Syria and other places, as well as one remained in Medina.
There're still available in the World biggest museums.

Actually It was Abu Bakr who gave the assignment to Zaid ibn Thabit to assemble the quran in one book format(note that Abu Bakr himself was a Hafiz [had the Quran memorized] and ofcourse Zaid was a Obvious Hafiz) . Because of the magnitude of this assignment Abu Bakr set extremely strict rules. 1st Zaid had to find a every verse of the quran written (so not from his own notes and memory).
2nd Zaid had to find 2 witnesses that heard that verse directly from the profeet PBOH (so they could not have learned it from each other).
The Quran in book form was collected like this.
3rd Abu Bakr had Zaid Review it 3 times, and each time he had to review it with 2 witnesses.
4th Abu Bakr asked Zaid to hand it over (note again that Abu Bakr is a Hafiz, and he memorized the quran in the correct order) and finally he reviewed it himself. Just imagine all the effort.
Afterwards ppl started copying from this book format and no one supervised what they copied, And ppl copied from those copies and so on. This was bound to get problematic in the long term that's why the personal copies got destroy after 6 accurate copies were made of that book format with again strict rules in the time of Uthman and it was again supervised by Zaid, and the copies were made by Abdullah ibn azzubair, said ibn al aas and abdurrahman ibn al harith ibn al Hisham (those 3 were specialized in the Quran + Zaid as supervisor of this committee) those 6 copies got reviewed many times after completion.
All the sahaba (the companions) agreed with the burning of the notes unanimously. Even Ali said afterwards: this happened only with our advies, and we are grateful for this othewise we would have had different version much like the bibles.

Thank you for this video! Your research has been kind and fair to a much maligned community of believers. I am an ardent fan of Prophet Muhammad. I am amazed by this man. The Quran, that we got from him, has the most perfect definition of God that can always be verified as truth, even as time passes by and human intellect gets more advanced. Any genius or ordinary person with a humble intellect will agree to the definition of God as defined in the Quran. God is defined as one who is beyond comparison and beyond comprehension. When someone asked Prophet Muhammad's wife, Bibi Aisha, as to how many times the prophet saw Allah, she got angry and said that if any person said that Prophet Muhammad saw Allah, then he is the greatest liar in the world. She proclaimed that as per the Quran nobody can comprehend Allah. This is the truth about the Quran's definition of God. Prophet Muhammad could easily have started a totally new religion, but he didn't. He adopted all the Prophets, all the rituals, way of prayer (Namaz) from Judaism, and also Jesus with virgin birth from Christianity, into Islam. Even Muslims initially prayed facing Jerusalem. Now what is going on here? What kind of a new religion is this which is hell bent on unifying people instead of standing out as a totally separate religious community. It will take many more years to fully understand and grasp at the amazing achievements of Prophet Muhammad. I will recommend all to read Shahi Bukhari's Hadith. Read the accounts of Prophet Muhammad's friends, relatives and wives', specially the accounts of Bibi Aisha, where she states that there never were three consecutive days when the Prophet and she had a good meal! This simple and humble man!

Angelika Neuwirth is spot on here. Jay Smith has attempted these revionist theories in his apologetic career and debates for a long time now. But it has been pointed out to Jay many times, in his famous debate with Shabir Ally for example, that this thing that Patricia Crone and Michael Cook were coming with is all nonsense. With their radical revionist theories on the origins of Islam. Many orientalist scholars in the field have already criticized these views. Like William Montgomery Watt, F.E. Peters, Norman Daniel and so on. Patricia Crone and Michael Cook then later even came out and revised their views. Great video Paul, keep it up 👍🏼

    • @teachmetheway7081
      @teachmetheway7081 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

And because they have been criticized you disregard it? Your blindness is patently obvious. Weren't Muhammed or 'the authors of the koran' REVISIONISTS?
but i will answer my question: Yes he/they were. Their thought was RADICALLY DIFFERENT coming 600 years after the Bible. Most everything written in that book is starkly different to the histories and science it pretends to cover. And yet you, Paul the video guy, and all other somewhat 'innocent' muslims glorify the Koran for 'SETTING STRAIGHT' that which has been corrupted. AMAZING!
You seem to be or write like quite an intellectual in these few words you have put up.
      Why this double standard?
Why haven't you rejected the Koran based on its revisionist writings?
Why haven't you properly reviewed the koran for inconsistencies (which abound far too much)?
Why haven't you therefore appealed to scholars who have opposing views on this revisionist writing known as the Koran?
However, isn't that the 'nature of the beast' one writes this and someone else opposes it? What thought ever goes unopposed? Is that reason to not on your own delve deeply into them? Don't you fear the implications?
Weren't the ideas of great thinkers opposed in the past and some even killed or tortured for it such as the prophets of the old testament?
Wasn't the same Crone threatened for her academic research?
How can you as a people be so smart on the one and yet still simplistic when it comes to truth and its implications to your religion and consequently your souls?
Someone must be wrong at the end of the day. Yahweh of the Bible is not Allah of the Koran. There is no congruency.
Shabir Ally says much much much and says significantly little little little. Did he answer the claims directly via his own investigation or did he just use his oft mentioned phrase that scholars have debunked those claims. Thereof providing NO EVIDENCE to directly counter the ACTUAL claims of these 'revisionists'.
However, Jay Smith and others of current times are providing evidence (considered strong or not) against the revisionist book known as the koran and you reject their thoughts still. They are not just saying the Koran has been changed and is also not what you think it is but are additionally providing evidence of such and you still reject them. Based on 'scholars'.
Throwing out the 'baby with the bathwater' is leaving you Muslims in a very terrible situation. Because you keep turning a blind eye and heart to these realities you never properly search them out. It leaves you defenseless in these areas and able only to begin chanting the mantra of perfect preservation. It is reckless thinking that by not personally dealing with the dragon in the room that it is not still going to eat you alive and as many as are in the muslim house.
It grieves me the level of intellectual dishonesty that I come across here. And i should also say the level of emotional dishonesty.
You defend the REVISIONIST koran using scholars yet reject the REVISIONIST writings on the koran based on scholars
      But as someone basically said:
"A statement without support merits denial without reason"
the Koran being without historical and scientific support merits everyone to deny it without any reason.
Since muslims have practiced the formerly described anti-logic against others they should not require persons to practice logic now so conveniently. But may their intellectual dishonesty neither thrive nor remain in the world of truth and fact.

take out things out of context and tried to throw it on our faces. Yet every time he did that we educated him in his own game. I mean for someone with a Phd in theology and 30 years of so called comparative religion and bible studies he is very lame. He couldn't even win an argument in a bible debate with shabir Ali. Yet he tries to educate us on our own islamic theology?? Now he got that side kick of him Al-Fadi who nods along with him every time and tries to come across like scholar by dressing like a arabi in the Americas yet ayoung guy in his 20s gave him a taste of his own medicine and shut him up. We even educated Jay Smith in speakers corner in London by a layman when it came to his claims of different verses / standardization of the Quran. We don't need Islamic scholars to educate these characters or these apologetics / evangelists.

@Jack Wiliam Probably unnecessarily scared of being killed for my belief in Jesus by muslims/muslim sympathizers. But not scared of Islam as a belief system. yep i say derogatory things about islam because they added up a bit too quickly against this religion. I thought probably hinduism was more suspect re: beliefs but Islam honestly supersedes it by one book, one man and one prophecy.
If you have read some of my comments i need not repeat those three.
I should even not need to repeat the 1 = 3 aspect either.
However, "I think you need to lower your ego and see the truth. It is not my soul that will cry on judgement day it will be yours, don't support the weird doctrine of a man made church." needs to be answered.
Ego is thinking that you alone have the truth and are not willing to hear and listen to others
Ego is saying that Christians believe a lie while muslims believe in counter factual accounts of history (even in the face of extra-biblical history saying as much)
      Re: Crying on judgement day
it is possible i may be crying on judgement day. But i don't intend to be crying because I believed in obvious lies. These things of doctrine may be a lie. God is who he is. He reveals what he wants and does what he wants.
However, there are facts that should never be disputed. Any religion that says that certain facts did not occur must be a religion built on lies.
As to man-made, i am telling you solidly that yours is man-made. you think it is of God Almighty sent down from above only because that has been the mantra you were taught from the first till now. Had you been taught the things i read about you would be less egotistical about your religion.
I don't think that my belief is not man-made. In fact I AM PROUD OF THAT. But to lie to myself that it came from God directly like the commandments unto moses is doing my soul a terrible disservice. Moreover, to tell others that your religion is the truth given these things and others is misleading. So therefore, i can guarantee you that on judgement day those teachers of the 'laws of God' who willfully taught others lies will be crying.
Jesus is stated as saying that false prophets and false christs will come.
he said also that many will come in that day saying Lord Lord. He will say depart from me because you did not show charity to the least of his brethren. Ask yourself the question gentle Jack, are you one of the 'brethren' of Christ? Do you honor him as your brother or as just a prophet?
If the latter is the case it means that his admonition automatically applies to you is the case.
The concept of going to hell because of stupidity is horrible but it is very possible.
Death will come for sure for us all. Judgment day will/will not come according to some. But the best investment of your soul is in Jesus. Muhammed had no answer for where he would end up. He couldn't even speak with certainty even in light of him 'spending time with God'. You are going to place all your chips on that number. It doesn't seem sensible to be honest.
Jesus was for some reason pretty confident in himself according to scripture. He alone he said was the way the truth and the life: no man would come to the Father except by him. But you reject the certainty he provides and lean on the balance of your good deeds versus your bad deeds.
But it is this very thing that will judge you. As I said before, telling him in that day Lord Lord means nothing if you didn't do good to his brethren - whoever you think they really are.
I HOPE THIS WAS ENOUGH OF A RANT FOR YOU!!

@Jack Wiliam on your media comment. Question: when do we ever believe in media's honesty? Is it only when they are investigating others?
I hope you are not going to say that muslims do nothing to provoke anger in the world. Or that it is because of provocation from western powers?
But if even one of your so called scholars can agree that islam was spread by the sword which i and many others agree with why would you deny this? why would you deny this and make it seems as if you are the victims in the whole charade?

Nobody doubts a significant amount of effort was put into preserving the Quran by believers, but for a direct word of God it would need to be 100% and more and more scientists are acknowledging that there is evidence of human elements in the transmission at all levels.

I like what the scholar Norman Brown wrote about the book by Crone and Cook:
“in Apocalypse and/or Metamorphosis (1991) that Hagarism, "illustrates in an ominous way the politics of Orientalism", and citing Grabar's review, added that, "The Western tradition of urbane *condescension has degenerated into aggressive, unscrupulous even, calumny.”*
Indeed most of the early and current orientalists seem to be dismissive of anything that has to do with Islam and Muslim civilization. They follow in the footsteps of those Christians from the time of Charlemagne who saw the Muslims as enemies and therefore posed an existential threat to christiandom. They resorted to demonization, lies and character assassination of the prophet Muhammad. Decade after decade century after another they have produced literature full of hateful and condescending publications. It is still going on today though some are realizing the futility of such efforts especially during this time of kumbaya and live and let live. There are also decent Muslim scholars who are willing and capable of challenging egregious and false claims.
Everyone should welcome good scholarship but we must disregard and dismiss the garbage spewed by John wansbrough and his ilk. They pretend to write scholarly books but their assumptions get in the way of writing decent literature.

Shall we start calling you Imam Paul???????
Perhaps we should ask David Wood who seems to spend more time attacking Muslims and Islam than defending his own faith.
The bible was written by many authors many whom arent even known.
Moses wrote the Torah and it it contains stories about what occurred after he died, obviously he didn't write the Torah.
Nobody knows who wrote the Gospels, some of Paul's writings are not by Paul to if you listen to Bart Erhman.
The interesting thing about the Qur'an is the poetic form it is written in which is probably why there are people who have memorised much of it or indeed some have memorised it all.
Christian missionaries also liked to point out how much violence is in the Qur'an totally oblivious to how much is in the Bible.

Sadeghi and Bergmann defines the Uthmanic text type as agreeing with the text of the 1924 Cairo Edition of the Quran, a tradition that “reportedly began with the codices ʿUthmān disseminated as the ancestors of all the manuscripts in the textual tradition”. *These codices all agree on: 1. the order of the surahs; 2. the order of the verses within each surah; and 3. the content of these verses in terms of individual words* (Sadeghi and Bergmann 2010: 347).
