I'm gonna comment early before this finishes. This is the dream for me really. While I really enjoy the process of brewing I just want a great big short cut when I know I'm not gonna have the time to actually brew properly. Never been able to acquire a Mutons or a Coopers just toss it together kit but I love the idea of it all.
Yeah, I don't really have any issues with these types of "shortcuts". If you've mastered your fermentation process you can do a really good job with kits like this. Cheers! -Mike
How is it a fair review if you use a different yeast? i dunno im a newbie im about to brew it but why use a different yeast to that in the box? Excellent honest video anyway but not a i like it but would have been better with all the ingredients used in the box
I should start a scavenger hunt thread just for things in my garage. Or name 3 items that have moved since last time. Winter is coming and I need to start picking up from the summer adventures to get the cars in soon. Cheers! -Mike
Wow, what coordination with the black shirts. This looks like a big improvement on the other brewery in a bag products for sure. Not surprised with the darker color using liquid extract. Seems like that happens a lot even with no boil. It wasn’t too dark though. Good call in the yeast switch out but there is some curiosity as to the final result with the mystery yeast. John didn’t make the typical yucky face when he gets something that’s not real good so I take that as a positive. For sure his is a way to do a simple and fast brew day which is always a good thing. Anyway, enjoyed this review. Cheers from Uxbridge.
I made the West Coast IPA kit. I had to throw it out. It turned out really dark for some reason and the taste was hoppy but worty as well with thing mouthfeel. Maybe a yeast problem?
Well, it was clearly two different extracts, one in each can. I think one must have been a wheated extract the other plain pale extract. So it might be hard to split. Cheers! -Mike
That kit is supposed to come with Safale S-04! It was the freshest thing in my kit with an April 2024 expiry. I believe they tossed in some fresh yeast because the kit was old. Got it online in August 2022 and it had an expiry of Sept. 2023. It was possibly mistreated [mishandled] too, as the cans were dented and the hops did not smell fresh, and had none of the punch you get from Citra & Mosaic. The beer is darker and not very hazy but tastes good. Saturated hop aroma & flavor but nothing really identifiable except some pithy-zest unless you try hard to look for stuff. I'm curious to know the expiry of your kit?
I didn't see any text on the cans. Funny one of my cans was dented too. I wonder if the darker color is from aged extract? Oh well it was tasty experiment. Cheer! -Mike
That Munton’s Premium Gold yeast is reputedly the same as Lallemand Nottingham. If that’s the case I’d expect it to attenuate somewhat more than Windsor.
Just caught up with this Vid and and all i can say is you've been drinking to much Bud Light and your taste buds are shot, Firstly, use the Muntons yeast, that's why they spend millions of Bucks developing a good yeast, Its amazing how so called brewing dudes always want to experiment with a brew they haven't tried with the Original yeast, Muntons are probably the Best Kit beers on the Market and this kit is the best so far, you need to revisit this kit and stick to the original instructions including original yeasts.
Judging by the faces made after first sips, ill stick to my all-grain brewing. Im actually trying to find ways of making it longer, not shorter. I prefer to tell the wife im busy for 5 hours instead of 30 minutes.

For 30 minutes and minimum cleanup, sounds nice!
If Muntans put a discount code in the chat, I would probably give it a shot...
That would be nice. Cheers! -Mike
Would love for you to revist this with the Muntons yeast as im a beginner and have no idea which yeast is best aha.

Nice lacing on the glasses.
Looking forward to the live brew day. Please send a reminder!
Use too! Cheers! -Mike
Another excellent video guys. Mike, could you use just 1 tin of the extract and make say just 2.5 gallons of it?
Well, it was clearly two different extracts, one in each can. I think one must have been a wheated extract the other plain pale extract. So it might be hard to split. Cheers! -Mike
Вот это творческий беспорядок!!!

@@BrewDudes So yeah, the expiration date is on a little white tag on the bottom of the box. It also has a batch number. Cheers Mike!

Right on. Thanks for that tidbit. Cheers! -Mike
What is cost for kit?
I have seen the range of $35-$50 (USD) depending on location and kit. Cheers! -Mike
I miss the fridge 😢
Maybe someday something new will come. Cheers! -Mike
@@BrewDudes Oh yes! I'll wait for that day! Cheers
You were only supposed to top it up to 20 litres as per the instructions.

LME is always so dark.
Agreed. It doesn't age well thats for sure. Even in cans. Cheers! -Mike
