@@chronic_daydreamer His “Theory of Geometric Unity” is the work I’m referring to. It’s the reason he has a chip on his shoulder and “beef” with Neil/academia. There is no doubt in my mind that Eric is extremely intelligent. However, his theory had holes that were pointed out in peer review. Instead of using the feedback from academia to improve his theory, he doubled down on it and went after academia because they wouldn’t accept it. Whether it was due to his ego or a financial incentive, I don’t know. But it sure seems like he asked to go on JRE so he could use Terrence’s experience with Neil as a basis to attack academia for slighting him.
Astrophysicist here. Eric did a fine job of calling him on his bullshit but in a very amicable way. I have my issues with Eric, but he's right about some areas of academia. Lol I'll never get over that dumbass look Howard makes when Jamie pulls up the theory of everything. He's such a poser when he's not playing the victim
My only problem w EW here was that his explanations were way too complicated. He didn't need to go into logarithms and such to explain why 1x1=1. I majored in math (years ago) and even I had trouble following that. He missed a lot of opportunities, too. He should have pressed him more on the "it's just a metaphor" bit he's saying now. Like, so you're completely backing off on it now? You don't believe that any more? That's funny because you wrote an entire f***ing book on it, and it seems like it was at the core of all your theories. I also wish he had called TH out when he started to talk about the Dewey Decimal System, lol. Like, Terrence, what do you mean when you say that term? No, it's a method of organizing books in a library. So you see, when you make such fundamental mistakes like that, it makes people not take anything else you say seriously. Etc.
@@wrc1210 I feel he did that on purpose. He knew straight away that if he pressed hard, he would fold pretty quickly. I didn't mind the logarithmic route, I even learned something there. Definitely something I forgot from undergrad.
But Tyson was actually spot on. This is by definition Dunning-Kruger. Academia is not as closed as Weinstein makes it seem. Sometimes you can be brilliant in your field and then assume that means you can be brilliant in all fields or about every theory. And when it turns out that’s not true you can assume the “establishment” is out to get you when really you’re just wrong.

A lot of people saying Eric is basically in the same boat as Terrance for his theory. But thats not true, Eric learned math and physics, and he has asked for help from people with stronger skills to help him finish it. He doesnt think that math and physics is broken, he thinks the community is.
So Eric IS SORT OF in the same camp. The difference between Terrence and Eric is that Eric actually has an education and understands A LOT in mathematics.
This is also why he didn't let Terrence go down his rabbit holes of ideas and tried to keep him on some sort of track that he could work with. It wasn't an easy task by any means.
I didn't mind the logarithmic route, I even learned something there. Definitely something I forgot from undergrad.
But Tyson was actually spot on. This is by definition Dunning-Kruger. Academia is not as closed as Weinstein makes it seem. Rogen is so happy to be agressively ignorant "dont give that! You know i don't read!"
this video's about to be so cringe it took all my willpower just to press play
Is your grandma ok?
@@macmars92😂 what are you 8? That’s was the lamest attempt at a dis I’ve ever seen.
I avoided watching it for long enough. Time to eat the cringe pill
I'm with Midnight unity. Thanks for watching for us. I couldn't listen to this for more than half an hour. Nor the first time. I recognize B.S when I hear it. Good work.
Science doesn't care about your feelings. So I think Tyson is well within his rights ripping apart both Terrance and Weinstein if their theories aren't up to standard.
"Hey Jamie, pull up 'Hustle & Flow shake it real fast'...let's get some of that going in the background if we can..."
-Roe Jogan
😂
This whole commentary is wrong and should be taken with a grain of salt 🧂. It’s a critical and unfair assessment. Weinstein does not destroy Terrance the whole time he like a genius chops out what Terrance said wrong and uplifts and promotes what he does right. Weinstein clearly says his only way to get attention and get his views and others like him out to the world 🌎 is podcasting not peer review or academia.
Critical feedback is an integral part of the scientific method. Totally fair😅. Did you go to college?
What did Howard get right?
I AGREE with everything that you said about Joe Rogan and Terrence. Thank you !
Terrence was too much of an idiot to realize that he had just met someone who could be his best friend. If he just could let go of the idea that he knows every single thing on every topic better than the people who have spent their entire lives studying it.
You didnt watch the podcast episode? Because in the end Terrance admitted that he needs to shut up more and he accepted Erics offer to help him learn
@@polpol2739 It was a 4 hour podcast and I'm not a scientists so I couldn't play it on 2x speed and follow along. It took me some time to get through it. I think I had 40 minutes left last night. But even with that I will believe it when I see it. Where in 6 months they either come back on Rogan or do an episode of the portal. Reporting back that he has in fact done just that.
Call me pessimistic and if everything turns out great I will accept that characterization.
@@dcworld4349 The fact that terrance at some point was humble enough to stop BSing when Eric tells him that he goes off the rails and terrance complimenting Eric and saying he feels lucky to meet an incredible mind shows that theres a room to be optimistic
@@polpol2739 nah that's just cus he knows there's no way to BS his way out of this one. He'll be back to lying as soon as people can't prove him wrong
Geometric Unity has its problems but Eric at least does understand what he is talking about. But Terrence isn't an idiot either. He clearly has an incredible ability to recall things and has at least a superficial understading of a lot of concepts. The problem is he vastly overestimates his knowledge.
Funny that both, Weinstein and NDT came to the same conclusion : everything science related is wrong but the art in his constructions is beautiful. Both say Terence knows not enough yet tries to teach, what basically Dunning Krueger is.
But somehow Weinstein gets mad at NDT because... what exactly again ?
I was also waiting for that explanation. I think it's likely that NDT shat on his resoundingly shat on theory of everything so Whine-stein's got his panties in a bunch and wanted to exact revenge.
Not a fan of Weinstein’s opinions. But I do respect his education. PhD in physics is tough people.
Did anyone else check their calculator? 😂 I mean, I know 1x1 is 1 but I had to make sure that the calculator IN FACT knew also!
But why does 1x1 equal 1 that’s the honesty Terrance is seeking. It’s a damn place holder from a predated error. Just ego based knowledge.
Just incase someone is wondering, I just went to my calculator and checked. 1x1 still equals 1
Well of course your calculator would say that, it's made by "the Establishment" And the "Establishment" is always trying to "Keep a brother down"
There is no "reputable scientific establishment". It's just information hoarding narcissists attempting to discredit the greatest mind of our generation.
In case you're wondering, yeah, I'm being facetious.
If they'd done that in the studio they wouldn't have got a 4 hour video out of it.
@@redmed10 🤣🤣
T Howard DID NOT make it up. He 100% believed it and tried to push it until someone finally pushed back and he then folded faster thank Superman on laundry day
The guy from Big Mamas house starting beef with scientists is hilarious
what does big mamas house have to do with TH? and dont come with your cheap,"its a joke blabla"
Weinstein is nearly equally as hacky but he’s institutionally educated and coherent enough so he looks smart in a room full of Ape Rogan and guy who is literally insane.
well that and he knows all the maths and so on
Fantastic commentary dude!
Talked to a guy who saw a guy who tripped over his grandma to click on this
Crazy you cant believe shit nowadays, wouldve never known any of that about Eric just from watching that episode. Thanks for the peer review 😉
I would have liked to see Howard debate Charlie from Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia.
Charlie would kill him on bird law😂
Lmfao 😂😂😂😂
Filibuster
Those two might actually build a time machine 😂
I'd kill to see that on Pay per view. And to add some zing to it, give them both red bulls
*Neil deGrasse Tyson has left the chat*
Science sambo, he left to bang bowtie bozo his boyfriend
*deGrassi
Hopefully he never comes back
He was right😂
I don’t listen to people that say gender is a social construct.
Brilliant take. 👏🏼👍🏼
" people are going to respond to it"
" i dont read comments "
Something wrong here someones telling tales
Joe simply has someone 'boiling down' the comments for him because he can afford that.
Ayyy a video perfectly timed after my nap
You may think Bret is a grifter, but dropping that in this podcast without any further explanation is the same as opening a news article with "Known right-wing extremist so-and-so." I don't think he's a grifter - I think he's genuinely interested in the world, in politics, and he and Heather found that their voices were trusted and valuable in the days of COVID. So they expanded on a podcast that existed and lots of people liked it. Lots of people like your stuff too, and all you're doing is giving your opinion. Is that grifting? Do you think he's disingenuous and if so, you need to make a case for it.
Nothing like pseudo intellectuals calling out other pseudo intellectuals for their wacky ideas. Joe thought Howard was a genius the other day btw...
This is just embarrassing for Joe lmao. Like dude is just gullible at this point.
He not only was gullible enough to fall for Howard’s fake theories, he fell so hard for it that he had Eric on thinking this would be a productive conversation 😂 like Howard was gonna teach Eric some stuff 😂
Well Joe thinks Hendrix was so amazing even though he clearly needed a Dr. Dre type of dude behind him to temper him. I think Joe gets enamored with passion.
It's okay to feel intimidated by Eric xd
Be the smartest person in the room is pretty competitive. Usually the actual smartest person in the room doesn’t try to prove they are the smartest person in the room.
Let's be a bit more direct about your intent and let you say what you really mean; who do you think is more correct about mathematics and science, Howard or Weinstein ?
@@TheOneMastodon anyone who says Howard hasn't taken a single higher-level mathematics class lmfao
@@bofa722 Anyone who says Howard is someone that shouldn't be allowed to vote...
God I love these anti-establishment types.
They’re so brave.
The smarter the person, the more they realize they don't know imo
definitely true, because its a fact there's more that we don't know
LOL, you say: "Now, I'm not trying to belittle Terrence, or make him look stupid"
Also you: Constantly tells the audience how stupid, ignorant and narcissistic he is, while showing us a picture of him from a movie wearing a ridiculous wig.
You can't have your cake and eat it too, sir.
Lol I thought it was a funny picture nothing serious
Stupid is as stupid does
"Now, I'm not trying to belittle Terrence, or make him look stupid, he does that enough himself" You left a part out there.
If you actually delusional even after all the chance to explain yourself. Then you are delusional end of story. Trying to negotiate that people wouldnt ridicule you before you explain yourself means shit. Grow up
He made the concious decision to wear that silly wig in one of his first videos announcing his "theories"
Terrence shows maturity throughout this interview Eric came with the agenda to say technically your wrong to every point because you used the wrong word like arguing with a woman but changed subjects when Terrence wanted to rebuttal his incorrect assessment of his points great interview overall this interview made me feel like I can’t trust scientists even more
Eric literally teaches him algebra in this episode, stop being dumb.
