Rory saw the way the wind was blowing. He rightly jumped ship when he witnessed the direction the Tory Party was heading. He has principles which he wasn’t prepared to compromise. The best PM we never had.

All of what would be considered the city of Manchester and its suburbs is as safe as Labour territory you could find anywhere in the country.
Regardless, your initial complaint was that the tour goes “nowhere near” Liverpool - this is a matter of geography that you’ve tried to reframe as a political issue. They only have six dates in total dotted all around the country - Manchester is the bigger city so why would they have a second date there? They’ve not booked shows is Glasgow and Edinburgh.

As for our vs El Salvador prisons I know which one works better ..
I believe if you commit a heinous crime you should lose all your human rights, in all circumstances.
Our system doesn’t work as we see many time & judges are completely out of touch from reality..
Only a few months ago it came to light that a kid was stabbed while being surrounded by a crowd of others recording the stabbing..the perpetrator was caught & ordered to appear in court, the judge then told the culprit to write a letter of apology & fined him £50 🤬
Youngsters run wild with knives & guns knowing the system will look after them, as our system looks after the criminals & not the victims..
It’s not a surprise that our prisons are full with repeat offenders.
Something needs to change going forward..
Re. N. Ireland, I don't think the role of mass union action can be underestimated. I believe that the thousands on the streets from both communities had a massive role in the timing. Before they weren't interested, suddenly, there's a deal. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that... or maybe why not interview a union leader on the matter as it is central to contemporary politics and hasn't been discussed as much as it should.

Good insight of North Korea, I just wonder It seems to me that unlike Europe communist authoritarian regimes in East Asia, and SE Asia seems to be rigid and surviving very well even through the 1990s as well. I have question on this. Does geography play the part in that? that they have China as a main back sponsor, the fact that these countries enjoy relatively large territories and less congested than Europe in terms of numbers of states located within the region. does that factor help to maintain authoritarian regimes that could impose more isolation from rest of the world?

Can’t believe I listened to these two analyse an interview they have not listened to. The bet was for charity! The interview was totally fine!
I have noticed something that i found quite interesting, younger voters are more focused on problems that directly affect them compared to the idea of the Union, yes it is still there but nowhere as important as it was back before the Good Friday Agreement, in fact the Alliance Party continues to grow. Could it be that the reason why unionist parties are getting less support is because they all seem to be right wing like the DUP?
Also another point, what you said about Sunak is spot on! The way he is acting in government is not the same Sunak he used to be, he is acting like a different person to please everyone and thats why people can't take him serious!
On El Salvador, most of those gangs were deported from USA, many who had never been to El Salvador but had parents from there, also, USA trying to talk about human rights with all they do and having the highest prison population ever, basically in private prisons and used to keep their economy going.

Keir Starmer could sue both Sunak and TalkTV for character defamation, as everyone should know about UK Barristers and our legal system, that our King's Counsel - KC Barristers (formerly Queen's Counsel - QC) use the Taxi-cab rank system and have to take on the next case in the list of notorious criminals going to court. These two should already know this...
KC's have to defend these people, providing they have the necessary expertise and the defendant can meet their legal fees, regardless of their own views about the defendant. They must also defend them will all due diligence and professionalism, and any obvious failings or lack of commitment to the case will be reported and this will lead to them being disbarred from the legal system - struck off... Just because a KC defends someone, it does not mean or prove that they believe or support their defendants views or actions.
It's so obvious that both Sunak and Morgan are deliberately misleading and misdirecting everyone with this lie and fake-news, which can now be pursued in the Courts, as Sunak said these comments in a TV studio outside of Parliament where parliamentary privilege no longer applies.
It really needs to be done to prevent thiis lie and dis-information continuing and to ensure that any future heinous behaviour like this, isn't tolerated in the UK again - whether it is from the political Left or Right...

I think it unlikely Starmer will take any action outside of parliament. He knows that such comments are all part of parliamentary life. As a KC, Starmer would be able to assess whether or not he has a case for action - he undoubtedly feels it would be too much of a distraction in this election year. On a technical point, barristers do have some say as to whether or not they will take a case. Junior barristers may have less choice, but KCs can pick and choose to some extent. That said, Sunak’s comments were entirely out of order. Had he said them in parliament then he would have incurred the wrath of the Speaker.
Starmer or someone on his behalf should raise the issue in PM question time and get him to retract and apologise, and/or humiliate him on his ignorance of this country’s legal system!

I am an elderly American feminist woman who worked tirelessly on women’s issues from 1968 through 1980 and somewhat beyond. I remember too well only seeing white male faces on television and most positions of authority and I didn’t even know it was strange. To see these two women leading different parties (I’m not sure of the correct language from this side of the pond) made my eyes water and my throat to choke for a moment. I had this thought, “two women! They’ll probably get a lot done.“ That might not be true, but I always feel more hopeful, because we tend to want to figure out how to work together. I appreciate both you and Alastair a great deal. And, of course, I wish your king well.

From my reading, the present crop of Republican far-right (and aren't nearly all that) American women are no better at figuring out how to get things done than are their male counterparts in the Republican party. The adulated stars of K-Pop, BTS, have just finished their basic training at the start of two years compulsory Military Service, and starting fighting will turn the whole of Korean youth, regardless of gender, into military. He may have a million underfed, poorly trained, demotivated soldiers, the South has about 3.5 million guys in their 20s, and almost as many females, with something to defend.

I'm not from Northern Ireland, and so I apologise if I'm making assumptions, but just as Liz Truss never represented the majority of British voters I don't think Stormont with their continuous bickering represents the average person in the street. Especially when they all say "we don't want to play and we'll hold our breath until everyone agrees with us".

What work has he really done on AI? What work has he done regarding automation whatsoever? Rishi Sunak is not the type of person I trust to lead a transition over the next few decades towards technology which will threaten jobs and requires serious infrastructure development.
The UK could have always been a world leader when it comes to automation - the public are unfamiliar and hesitant to grasp the possibilities, and understandably so - Rishi Sunak perhaps had some potential as a conservative who likes technology, to lay down some serious contingency plans and stir up real enthusiasm for the possibilities afforded by automation.
It wouldn't have even been politically challenging for him. It offers an alternative to migration and helps solve labour shortages - it's a win-win that he was too scared to promote fully. Now the UK will continue to decline, and other countries will get an edge on us. Starmer is too boring to do anything either.

Piers Morgan shares his stuff on youtube (like you!). We aren't talking about 30,000 viewers. His interview with rishi has had 430,000 viewers (so far).
Insightful as ever, chaps, thank you. On the North / The Province / Ulster / NI I believe the people - particularly in the North West - have been systematically failed by Stormont, London AND Dublin for decades, which is why the area is amongst the most economically disadvantaged areas in the UK. This is largely thanks to their being an absent government for the majority of the time since the Good Friday Agreement through a myriad of excuses / political points being made - largely by the Unionist side of the political debate - in addition to being largely ignored / treated with apathy by the political thinking "process" at Westminster. My personal hope is that through the new leadership in the form of FM O'Neill is that there can be progressive dialogue about constitutional change. The people of the North / The Province / Ulster / NI deserve to decide their own destiny, and the geopolitical compass seems to point towards a united island of Ireland.
One third of Ulster - counties Donegal, Cavan and Monaghan - is in the Irish Republic, because the Unionists didn't want those counties to be part of "Northern Ireland" as they would not have had a Unionist majority. So it was not just Ireland that was partitioned but Ulster as well. There is no historical or geographical justification for the existence of the remaining six counties as a separate unit.

While talking about Donaldson's position on the Irish sea border, he previously championed Boris's protocol and was will to even accept passport checks. There's literal video of him saying all this. He has no position of principle on the matter, he just got caught up in doing deals with representatives of terrorists and changed his position to win endorsement of an illegal paramilitary organisation.
Seems like pertinent i formation that's continually ignored or glossed over.
Also note that the Deputy First Minister Emma Little Pengelly was voted out of office as an MP for South Belfast because she was so useless and was more concerned with the naming of a bus stop than her constituents being bullied and intimidated by loyalist thugs in a housing development a short distance away from the bus stop. Then in the last assembly election the MP Jeffery Donaldson stood as a candidate to be an MLA in Lagan Valley, he topped the poll and then stood down of the Protocol and Irish Sea border. He co-opted the unelected Pengelly to become an MLA despite her not being on the ballot paper, he hoodwinked the constituents of Lagan Valley. So we have a Deputy first minister who nobody voted for, a shameful act and making a complete and utter mockery of the democratic process.

Prime ministers cant be good at all the technical sides of running a country, cant be an expert on economics, health, foreign relations etc. A PMs job is to find politicians who can surround themselves with experts on those subjects but mostly to spend their time 'selling' themself, their party and their policies.
Sunak cant do any of that at all, so what use is he?
Near the end...AC understated the damage Trump is doing. He has shown that he can single handedly scupper any bill, even one with massive cross-party support, to make things bad, so that he can say "America is broken and only I can fix it".
The core element with a peace process is a willingness to leave old scores behind. Acknowledge the past but demonstrate a willingness to move on. Having extremist fathers doesn't mean the children are tied in. The 'sins' of the fathers cannot be held against the children.
As far as Sunak is concerned, he has admitted that he had no interest in politics. He is no 'professional' politician and relies on the will of others for support - he's not a politician, he's a financier.
Why not fix this country and get it running smoothly with great well-funded health services, brilliant state schools, clean, reliable, affordable public transport and utilities, a happy well-educated workforce, and adequately cared for pensioners and disabled people? When we have an almost perfect civilized society then we can suggest from a position of moral authority ( without sacrificing our young soldiers' lives abroad for pointless BS reasons) how other nations should behave. Don't ignore the rest of the world completely but don't spend our taxes to make it an even worse, more dangerous place to live. Don't spend our money on bombing children and women around the globe, stoking up justifiable resentment and animosity for decades to come. Of course, I realise Tony Blair and other war criminals would not agree with this point of view.
As much as I agree with your sentiment and would love to see all of those things realised in the UK, positing that we shouldn’t express any opinions on foreign policy and essentially become isolationist is woefully naive and not at all feasible. Not only does the UK have long-standing strategic alliances and a complex relationship with the wider world but put simply, we are an island nation that has relied on trade agreements to survive for a long time now. We cannot afford the luxury of ignoring the world
