Thank you so much for watching!
awesome progress video! what size pots are you using for ur dragon fruit??
Thanks! I have some in 15 gallon pots but prefer using 20 gallon pots.
The only varieties I've experienced cold damage on (so far) are Colombiana and very miniscule on K1 and Connie Mayer. With that being said, technically with Colombiana it is indirectly damaged by the cold: a certain fungus here only comes around during winter and Colombiana seems to be one of the few that is susceptible to it (I expect Desert King to be the same way, but I'll see once it grows more).
Bummer! Yes, fungus is much more prevalent in the winter here. It's gotten much better since I switch potting soil to a peat moss based mix (Gary's Best Top Pot ratios).
From my small collection. I lost AB completely, Palora new growth and stem rot, Godzilla new growth do to rust, and I lost allot of San Ignacio when it was still dormant and we have the heat wave. Also lost both yellow Thai cutting, but maybe they will reroot... I'm zone 10a. KVA also suffered some losses. My Hawaii purple cutting is small but thick and it only lost the new growth.
Bummer! I've learned this season that youger cuttings need an extra year of protection from out winter weather. I prefer older and seasoned cuttings.
I live in Pittsburgh unfortunately. Not happy about it lol but I’m trying to find as much dragon fruit information I can on how to grow them. I’m definitely going to put them in my grow tent in the winter. However, do you have any recommendations on reliable online vendors for dragon fruit?
Most are not trustworthy online. Wallace Ranch or some members of our Facebook group are a good start. Make mobile trellises so you can put them in your garage over the winter.
How cold does it get there.?
We get down to freezing temps for short durations. Zone 9b.
I lost Cebra, San Ignasio and Orijona. tried my best but couldn't safe them. I almost lost Bruni as I lost the plant, but I had a cutting from it in my garage and I'm rooting that one
Sorry to hear that. Armando and Orejona got damaged in our yard this summer.
How cold does it get in your area?
9B. Got down to 29 degrees for a short duration last winter.
Use tricontanol .....chemical for stress
Is it organic?
