She had a beautiful lyric voice, that had a dramatic edge that couldnt be beat, plus she had coloratura too.. She was a handsome woman as well... I love her, very musical.
Her Manon to Domingo's DesGrieux is unforgettably beautiful and thrilling. She was/is beautiful in form and voice. How I wish she had done more with him. She was also an accomplished poet and painter. Mil gracias.
Way too slow tempo. No diction from Sass. Yet stunning phrasing, emotive and glamorous vocal tone and full size and scale. She was a marvel and clearly an unfinished singer.
What a voice ... it could make this aria white hot as I think it should be if the tempo was picked up a bit by the conductor... it's a bit too pedestrian to be exciting... not the sopranos fault though....

Indeed it’s terrible diction as her vowels are a mess and her lack of chest tones is also nonexistent. What a voice however. She did sound more normal in Hungarian renditions of opera.

For me, Sass's greatest problem was her diction, which always sounded like she was singing with a mouthful of mashed potatoes.
