This is the same method for a 2014 Touareg.
I only had to drill through the bottom left one then use a screwdriver to release the clip. Once that was released the others released easily without drilling or punching the tabs.
Thank you this video was really helpful and I was able to replace my actuator in just 15 minutes.

Sir we solved the same problem by using silicon spray in fuel door gap and it works well. Ours is skoda rapid car and it's design is different. After spraying the door opened well which is strucked due to rusting it seems

VW should improve the quality of this part. It creates big problem when you run out of gas, and unable open for refill.... especially during winter

Actuator part number: 7N0 810 773 D (last letter can vary). Check eBay or you local dealership / car parts seller

i am from Holland i have a Audi A6 2005 2.4 v6 like your Audi A6 i have a problem with my fule cap. if it,s lock i can not get it open or if it,s open i can not get it close even all doors are locked I think my tank locking engine is broken can you possibly create a video that how can i get that engine loose because it has no screws It's a request please.

Hi Mirwais, I don't have that car anymore, so can't make that video, and I didn't repair that on Audi either. Just had a look in manual and this is what it says:
"For removal, use commercially-available circlip pliers.
Insert tips of circlip pliers in both guide sleeve bores and turn approx. 90° to left. This will release the locking mechanism. Pull guide sleeve out of fuel tank flap unit."

This component seems to go bad all the time. Usually it is the small electric motor inside which fails (often intermittently) leaving the fuel door locked and the driver unable to fill up the car with fuel.

It is a bit of hassle to take the rubber cover off, but the rest is easy.
