    Beautiful. I'm Canadian and have been using the .308 Win 150 grain Federal Fusion in my R700 CDL for 15 years. Deer, elk, coyote, wolf, moose and bear it works for everything for me and my family's needs. In our thick woods I've never had to shoot farther than 250 yards. Immediate expansion and deep penetration work perfect for double lung shots.

    I’ve been using the 165gr in my 06 for around 10yrs now maybe. They’re the most accurate “ off the shelf “ rounds I’ve ever tried.
    I originally bought a couple boxes of Wally World “ deer thugs” and couldn’t believe how well they shot.
    Then they disappeared. After some research I found out these were pretty much the same round with small differences, so I picked some up and was pleasantly surprised they were even better performing.
    I’ve been using them since. The accuracy and performance are what I expect from a true premium round.

    I shoot the .270, 150 gr Fusions and they shoot really well for me. My Mulie I got this year thinks the same. I wouldn't have an issue on using it for elk with proper shot selection. My Mulie was 100 yard shot, complete pass through and a huge blood trail.

    Nice video, I shoot the 95 grain Fusions out of my 243 for whitetail. Killed 3 deer so far, 2 dropped and one ran 50 yards. They also seemed to group nice out to 200 yards.

    Federal fusion is a good example of a premium bullet (based on accuracy and real world results) at an economic price. They seem to be very accurate for most rifles in a variety of weights and calibers. Personally I've been using them (.270 130gr.) for about 15 years and I've never had a whitetail buck take more than a dozen steps. I've recovered several bullets and the mushrooms look very much like in the video. And last year opening day was two head shots on yotes, 277&284 yards. It's pretty tough to knock that performance at about $20 less than the price of other premium bullets. I just got a box for my son's new 30-06, hopefully they follow the norm and give him tight groups.

    Maybe you could do the 270 Hornady SST 150 gr comparison to this one

    Great Results!! This was the first video ive seen with a 90%+ weight retention and expansion. Would you recommend these rounds for home/personal defense AND hunting? Ive been looking around at other bullet types for the caliber and they either completely disintegrate or fly through the gel like a fmj.

      EFOUR C Take a look at those round specs again, bud. Those measurements begin at 100m..... your home defense shot passing through a bad guy and dry wall is going to stop that? Not rocket science; You better invest in frang ammo.

      @@wymanmore3982 it will penetrate less at home defense distances

    I dropped a moose at 500y with 1 shot using fusion 180gr 300win. The bullet was 169gr after going through a rib and 2 lungs amazing ammo

    I'd love to see a 7.62x39mm test of Fusion. That 308 looks good to go. I agree the 5.56 fusion isn't too great.

      I've killed 2 deer so far with the .223 fusion 62 grain....one was a double lung total pass through, he died in about 4 seconds.....the 2nd was a mature doe through the neck, dropped her where she stood. 308 is good for elk sized game, way too much much for a white tail deer

    • @rexmontana3058
      @rexmontana3058 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Furn333 you're right, it doesn't expend much of its energy so not much meat destruction....just passes on through and keeps going... I think a 308 is just a bit much for white tail deer, 223 works great for them, usually expends most of its energy in the deer with a soft point, but most think you gotta have a cannon to kill a whitetail and that a 223 is somehow inhumane and unethical and won't dispatch one quick enough.....keyboard hunters I suppose, makes me chuckle. The first doe I killed with this ammo wasn't huge by any stretch, but the 2nd one was probably 150 or so. She never took a step. She was quite healthy and certainly a lot more than 100 pounds. Still have a little bit of her in my freezer! If I were hunting somewhere that required more than about 175 yard shot I'd use my 308 probably, but most shots are taken well within the acceptable range of a 223. It just cracks me up that so many think you gotta have a 500 super duper blasto-matic for a white tail size animal, and any of the .22 centerfires are simply unacceptable and somehow won't kill one, when they are actually quite efficient at doing so....lol

    • @rexmontana3058
      @rexmontana3058 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Furn333 the bucks around here probably average 200 or so....a 12 gauge slug is great for whitetail, I killed my first deer with a 20 gauge. Didn't have much left of the ribs and one shoulder lol...talk about meat destruction. Shotguns are great....I know some of the slug guns will get out to 200 yards or so pretty accurately. The great thing about shotguns is that they don't over penetrate, and quite often won't even pass through....they dump a massive amount of energy into the deer. I didn't want to imply a 308 was not a good round for a deer, but most people think you gotta have at minimum some kinda high powered, large caliber rifle for whitetail because it will somehow kill them more dead lol.

    great vids!! would you test the .308 with the swift a-frame? I think federal loads it. thanks a lot.

    What ammo do you think is better between the winchester power max and federal fusion in the same caliber and same weight. Thank you

      @obeconoberougle9497 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Which ever one shoots the most accurate in your rifle. Performance and design between the two is nearly identical. However, I prefer the Power Max Bonded personally. Watch Fatal Attractionz's video on the PMB and I think the results will speak for themselves... I think the PHP (Protected Hollow Point) plays a big part in the difference between the two.

    Performance of a premium bullet if it wasn’t for the low bc I’d be using it in my elk gun but would definitely get the job done

    • @keatonjorgensen8793
      @keatonjorgensen8793 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably shouldn't be shooting at elk with a 308 past 400 yards anyways so the BC Probably doesn't really matter

    Great bullets, but often when bullets break up a bit you'll find better penetration. This awesome mushrooming actually hinders penetration somewhat. Still a killer, but I don't rate weight retention highly-I rate wound channel. (this still has an awesome wound channel), but not the same as the eldx (here we go😀). -- you'll tell they bounce off shoulders, and ill tell you they don't at all.
