Huh, neat Vtubers really are taking the place of Vocaloids (in a sense, you don't see too many new fanmade vocaloids like you used to), it helps that Vtubers are keying on actual people playing characters. So this is basically the digital equivalent of when you have Kermit the frog or Elmo being interviewed. You know the puppeteer is behind the chair, but you don't pay any attention to that. But this way the puppeteer doesn't even need to leave their house.
Nah vocaloid is alive and well. Vocaloids were never fan made either. It's Utau where anyone can make their own character and voice bank. With vocaloid you have to buy the individual singer software packages from the company. Vocaloid shifted their synthesizer to a different engine though, but I forgot what it was called

For the last person at the end, the audio doesn't pick up that people from the audience were encouraging him. The audience were saying, "You can do it!" or, "You got this!" I went with friends to see this panel in person and I had no prior knowledge of vTubers beforehand and certainly did not expect the community to be this wholesome. 10/10 would experience again.
This was such a joy to watch. As someone who usually doesn't have time to watch VODs or catch streams and knows their interactions solely from YT clips, its so great that I was able to fully watch this.
