Lovely video and the sight of all those beautiful wooden cruisers made my heart sing. For years and years my parents hired the wonderful Supreme from lovely Duncan Prophet at Geo Smith and Sons in Wroxham, with a drop down transom at the stern. I'm delighted to say that Supreme is still going strong today and looking stunning.
Wow. I think I saw Turners boat yard @5:20 where we hired "Daffodil" in 1971. I also think I saw Salamandar which which hired from George Smiths Wroxham in 1978. Not a bathtub in site!
Brings back many fond memories. I think it was ,1968 we had our first of many Broads holidays. The very first boat we hired was " Lolita" from Jack Nichols of Great Yarmouth. I recall the refrigerator was a cupboard with mesh on the door in the cockpit!!!!. But who cared, we didn't. Great nostalgic video.
Loved the filmthank you, it brought back many happy memories Richardson's cruisers Stalham, we had Crusader 5 from them. Then Heart Beat from Hearts cruisers Thorpe St Andrew. then Admiral 7 from Brooms of Brundal 😁
The old box girder bridge that crossed the bure , before today's dual carriage way bridge opened in 1972, on a slightly different alinement , the pre 72 bridge crossed at the suspension bridge PH (named after a earlier bridge which tragically collapsed) to just south by a few yards of the white swan PH. The road would then take you to northgate street, the top of , the roads in this area are totally unrecognisable from the pre 1972 era. The last lattice bridge we see is the ex M&GN from Caister rd junction which crossed the bure here en route to the breydon swing bridge (demolished in 1962) and the lattice bridge we see here surviving into 1979 because it carried a gas or water pipe. We used to play around this area as children on our bikes (Raleigh strikers and grifters) 1970s Grt yarmouth was a lovely place to live.

Great stuff! Other than the abundance of wooden boats and bobble hats in this film, the Broads doesn't look wildly different now!
