    Nice how much of an elevation change was it from your start location to your turnaround location. Did you get any battery regeneration during any other part of the trip.

      There was about a +200 ft elevation gain from Wagon Mound to the first turnaround south of Raton.
      Driving on the highway you don't get much regeneration other than on descents or exiting the highway. That's why EVs are less efficient at faster speeds (plus wind resistance that affects all vehicles).

    I’m assuming you use IPedal when not using HDA? What is your mpk average in normal mixed driving?
    I use normal mode and auto regen 1 in my EV6 AWD and average 4.5mpk.

      Hmm I don't really track that and I only tend to manual drive in the city where speeds are lower. But yes, I almost always use iPedal. On the city freeways, I think I average around 3.1 mi/kWh (5.0 km/kWh) and that's going around 65 to 70. I don't do much actual low-speed city driving, so I don't track that as much. Basically when I'm driving around town, I don't keep close tabs on my data since I have zero range anxiety. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

      @@ArtiePenguin1 I have no range anxiety either, to reiterate, range is a stupid thing for EV’ers to focus on, but as people learn that driving an EV efficiently is completely different from driving their Chevy Cavalier, learning how to optimize it is important.
      Unless of course you only care about mashing the accelerator.
      I do suspect your efficiency suffers due to drag from IPedal, but I suspect you just like driving the EV6 like it’s a Model 3.

      Update: today I was able to do more actual city driving in El Paso and I saw an efficiency of 3.6 mi/kWh (5.8 km/kWh). So not quite as good as you, but yes, I do like to drive a bit on the fast side and use the instant electric acceleration.

      @@ArtiePenguin1 you might find driving in normal mode with auto regen 1 will let you indulge your lead foot and enhance your efficiency.

      Hmm perhaps but I do enjoy iPedal way too much. I rely on it nearly completely to brake for me and it works like 98% of the time. I only rarely reduce from iPedal down to L3 or L2 on the highway and I make sure to put it back on when I exit.

    HDA is only going to slow down on a curve if you're mapping a route with the on board map.

      Yup and the best way to know is that the word NAV will show up in a box. It'll change color to green when it is actively slowing down for you.
      That's especially useful to know if you've installed a Comma 3 because it'll say HDA all the time in that case. Only on Kia mapped roads will it say HDA and NAV. I'll have a video about that coming soon.

      Thanks for watching and yeah I know the audio is poor quality. I had my main lav mic fail on me so I had to pull audio from the front GoPro and my phone when it was screen recording. I debated just doing the whole video as a voiceover but it wouldn't capture the energy in the moment when I did the range test.
      Rest assured future videos will not have audio this bad & thanks again for watching.

      Thanks for watching and no, I grew up in the US but I prefer metric so much more. I've been using it almost exclusively for over 10 years.

      @@jasongordon1449 At every update I did provide the conversion to miles with on screen text. I never mentioned temperature again because it stayed constant throughout my drive. But I'm glad you found the end summary helpful where I laid out all the data and calculations. Thanks for watching!

      I wish everyone would ditch range and focus on mpk (efficiency) like we have forever with mpg.

    Normal mode will also disconnect front motor when not needed (and not using IPedal). There is zero advantage to Eco Mode over Normal unless you need to limp to a charger and allow it to throttle your climate down to save energy.

      Yup; although I have a RWD so I have no front motor. Eco mode isn't useful at all in my opinion, it just makes the accelerator pedal response more sluggish. If I want that, I can 'feather' the pedal myself with my foot. I also like a comfortable temperature in the cabin so I don't mind an extra ~1 kW of climate usage to stay cool.

      @@ArtiePenguin1 Contrary to myth, if you drive an AWD sanely, the efficiency and range is about the same as a RWD. At 4.5mpk my range is well over 300 miles (again, range doesn’t matter, but i constantly hear how people are afraid of the penalty from RWD to AWD).

      @JohnCap523 Yeah, I believe you can get the range/efficiency similar between RWD and AWD. The sole reason I didn't spring for the AWD is that I absolutely needed every bit of range I could get driving in rural New Mexico with few DCFCs. The one thing you can never overcome in the AWD is the weight penalty of having a front motor. I believe that's more apparent on fast highway drives.

      @@ArtiePenguin1 Only two reasons to get AWD, weather or power. If you don’t have the weather, and don’t care about the extra power, better to save the extra $$$. I need to run to Rochester NY every winter, so…

      @@JohnCap523 Those are two good reasons. I drove my RWD EV6 through some heavy snow near Pagosa Springs Colorado in March and it did okay. I kept it in snow mode. I can see the need for the extra power when passing on two-lane roads in the West I have to put the accelerator pedal all the way down to get up to speed sometimes. Still, not big enough reasons for me to go with AWD.
