So happy to hear of your happiness with your wife. Great topic! I had 4 children 5 and under with a husband who worked/travelled 80hrs a week. I had no help, no family. Fast forward 20 years, divorced, all the kids are in their 20s, I'm picking up the pieces of me, and he still works like crazy. BTW, did you clear that shirt with anyone? 🙅🏻‍♀️

This was a fascinating perspective. But I am very sceptical of a caregiver father ever being normalised. A majority of women don't respect a man who isn't seen to be working or busy. A lot of "niceness & acceptance" is often just disguised pity.
A fellow member from the FIRE community faces this exact conundrum, he has made money worth several careers, is not a creep and is happily married. He just doesn't want to work anymore. Several women around him see it fit to cross his boundaries(drop off my child, hold/carry this, pay for this, pick up my groceries, oh but he will be/is free).

Cant reinvent marriage in a positive direction, when 95% of us are nuts.

First, sorry for the job loss. Second, thanks for this. I’ve never heard of this book/card game and I can sure use it. Married 40 years. He’s retired, I am feeling close to retirement and one reason why is that I need at least one day in the week to
take care of ongoing, mundane household tasks because these aren’t getting g done. I am going to check out this card game.

How about we get rid of it? Much more reasonable.
