This is where Go Bots were on their way out. However these figures are incredible! Rock Lords! Powerful Living Rocks!

What the hell were the toy execs at Tonka smoking when they thought of this?

Masters of the Universe also had a line of transforming rocks. Basically, they were these lumpy action figures that folded over into vague Boulders.

I thought these were awesome but could see why they didn’t appeal to many kids, especially when compared with Transformers:
    “I got a truck!”
    “I got a fighter jet!”
    “I got a rock.”

  • @downsouth420

This is the first time a commercial showed the announcer, and the first time they showed the announcer playing with the toys. I guess they couldn’t find any kids who wanted anything to do with these crappy things.
Transforming rocks... how much coke do you think went into thinking this up and giving it the go?
Edit: that Japanese commercial was something else. Just wow...

downsouth420 I don't think you appreciate or collect 1980's toy lines.

Not as much as what went into thinking up and making the Bug Snax ps4 game.

True, if they ever bring them back someday in the future? maybe it'll help me take a break from Transformers for awhile since the G1 fans like to make fun of me alot all because the 90's and 2000's lines were my favorite Transformers era's, and I gotta tell you, they were not nice fans at all lol.

I’m going to be honest, I’ve never understood the appeal of the Rock Lords. Robots that transform into cars and animal makes sense. Robots that transform into rocks doesn’t, at least not to me. Perhaps I’m not quite old enough to appreciate the charm?
