- As a long time perfume collector (hoarder?!😅) I have more fragrances than I could ever use. As a collector I don't necessarily mind this - but I do mind having fragrances I don't care to or won't use at all in my collection. Over my TH-cam journey I have accumulated more fragrances than I thought was possible and along the way have been sent perfumes as well. At this point, I do want to make space for only the perfumes I love and appreciate, but as someone who has a very hard time decluttering, this has been a painful (but necessary) process for me. Decluttering used to be hard for me, but something changed in me a couple of years ago. I went through my whole kitchen and closets and purged. It felt invigorating to not have all of that clutter. In my closet, I turn all my hangers backwards and if I wear something, I place it back forwards. It’s amazing how little I actually wear. Then I get rid of the items I don’t wear. There are always a few things that I don’t wear often, but I still need them, but a lot I just don’t need.
I LOVE your share! I have a problem with clutter in general (yes, clothes, specifically too - and YES, so little of it is worn. 😞) I have been meaning to declutter clothes as well and I think I will start by using something like your hanger method to "mark" what is worn. I have a super minimalist friend who also suggested I put aside all the clothes I don't wear, not get rid of them but just see what the closet looks like with just what I actually am wearing/using, letting time pass and seeing if I miss anything - and then only declutter one item at a time if it feels too hard. Might sound extreme/slow but I think it might be a good idea for those of us who have a really hard time just DOING it. 😅
So many of us ramped up during pandemic and are now getting to the point of reevaluating what we have accumulated.

Decluttering is pretty easy for me. I declutter regularly and it helps me keep my collection manageable. I always enjoy watching declutter videos
I have 72 bottles and have decluttered 10 bottles, I felt good after doing it. Now I have 62 and it’s still a big collection for me. So I will try very hard to keep them and do No Buy and enjoy the ones I have! I used my 10ml travel sprayers on some perfumes I decluttered just in case I want to revisit them. Stay amazing! 😘

Congrats on your first declutter! I can tell it was very hard for you. You are such a sweet lady! I think you will feel much better having less and room on your shelves. I try to declutter every once in a while a little at a time and that helps keep my collection down. For me I get anxious if I have too much. 🙂

Yes to the makeup declutter. I'd love to see it! I have also done a fragrance declutter last year; I discovered that rose and patchouli are not my friends. Decluttering as a whole is an ongoing process. Love your channel!
I had a really hard time with my first declutter, but over time, I have found that actively managing my collection has enabled me to make new purchases with less guilt. ❤
I find decluttering perfume tricky because there are some that I hold on to for sentimental reasons. I can, however, ruthlessly declutter other items in my life and used to get in trouble as a teenager for getting of things that I no long wanted, but my mom did 😂. You're off to a great start Charlotte. Hang in there - learning to let go is a process.
P.S. I also don't like peony. I find it kind of screechy most times.

The eternal struggle between wanting a very small handful of signature fragrances and wanting ALL THE FRAGRANCES 😅 Having too many gives me anxiety/guilt (I have spreadsheets to ensure they all get FaceTime throughout the year lol 🤓) but there are so many I want to sample before they get discontinued!
That being said I have learned a few things don’t tend to translate well on my skin, namely lactonic notes and pineapple notes. Easy (sort of) pass for me.
I need to start buying decants or travel sprays only 😮💨
I never declutter perfumes; I give away ones that don’t work for me, or use as room clothes sprays.
I use them as decorator items around my home; instead of ornaments.
It became easy to me! I come from 40 perfumes , not having a youtube channel that's just too much. For one I wanted to use the space for other things. And now I bought a house and fid NOT want to have to move that much products.
So I sold at least 12 perfumes and used up 2 mists already , feels sooo good 🤗
Being in my 30's also helped. I feel like I'm more picky then at 24. I want 10 perfumes that I love.

I don't like to let go of fragrance either. My collection isn't at the size yet where it's necessary to because of space. I tend to use them up rather than get rid of the ones I don't love. I think part of it is the effort/risk/value aspect of reselling. I am not sure I think the effort is worth it.
I can see why you are ready to let some go. I think having a fragrance channel would bring a lot more into ones collection faster. Gifted bottles especially, might not all work out if you didn't get to pick ones you like. Thanks for sharing your declutter! 😊💛

I trained myself to regular decluterring, this applies on everything in my closets, kitchen, perfumes, makeup...this process became so easy for me, and yes there are few items I regretted decluterring but that feeling lasts for a very short while because I engage myself immediately in enjoying what I have. Decluttering is a healthy habit as it gives me space to create new memories.
Yay so happy to see a video from you :) in a state of complete overwhelm I just gave 80% of my collection away! I swore I’d never do that again lol however when I want to give any away I always keep a decent for myself, in case and inevitably I want to retest test it as my nose changes in time. Super happy with that decision, although the bottles are prettier to look at 🤷🏻♀️
Oh, wow! I hear you though. I think that if and when it gets to a point of overwhelm or not being able to enjoy what you have then there's something that needs to be changed for sure. Your decision to keep a decant of every one before giving them away is something I've considered as well and I know that's what some people do. I just know I neglect my decants and they sometimes overwhelm me just as much if not more so than my bottles for some reason, so I'm still on the fence about doing that. Would probably just keep the fragrance if I feel like I have unfinished business with it. 😅😂 Thanks for sharing. ❤️

Yes I was over the top with makeup too I don’t really buy any anymore, (just bought a Morphe setting spray tho cuz I can’t let that run out it’s my fave!) 😂 I do have a lot of untouched makeup that I had thought about trying to sell on Poshmark 🤷🏻♀️ But yes decluttering is actually so hard- you’re not alone!
Always helpful to see declutters! So I’ve struggled w/ AH L’Adventure por femme as well. It is a very classy boss woman fragrance and I do initially really love it, and its lasting power is over the top great. However, I think it gets really musky and a little overly masculine as I wear it and it’s like the sandalwood and musk get a little overpowering for me, so I have combined it with Sicily to add a little more freshness and sweetness. I have also combined it with Montale‘s vanille absolute to soften up that masculine musk and I love it! I guess it just depends on if you want to keep it and mix it or if you want to love it on its own? ❤❤❤

Declutters are generally easy for me to do… but I noticed that I find it harder to do now when it comes to perfumes… i guess I am still holding on to the thought of like “what if” I will love it after a few months or something. Having “sentimental” value is also a big reason of why I find letting go of perfumes hard… i have been given a lot of fragrances lately, i’ve been opening my “home” to perfumes that need a place, but I know I have a number that don’t really resonate with me 😊
I gave away Red Door Revealed. 😂 I so wanted to keep it to do like a yearly update… but I just couldn’t keep it 🙈
Not a big fan of those strong fuzzy ambers in the drydown either 😬

@@CharlotteRossx i have started to put on the side some blind buys that are not convincing. But that’s about it 😅 I mean, kind of along the lines of yours, very limited decluttering. Issue is taste changes, so unless I think a fragrance is unbalanced or uninteresting I don’t feel like decluttering 😅 this spring I used a lot a fragrance I had since 5ys and used little before!
Oh I feel you, especially when it comes to makeup. I have hundreds of eyeshadow palettes and have set aside a large box already of ones I want to declutter. I wish I knew how to get rid of them. We don‘t have mercari in the UK and generally it is illegal to sell used makeup, even on Ebay I believe. So the only place are Facebook groups and it is so hard to actually shift the palettes. I think I will have to actually throw them in the bin but am so reluctant to do that when they are perfectly fine. IThe same goes for lipsticks. But with my fragrances I am not at the point where I can declutter, even though my collection is massive and I am trying to stop buying more. It is a constant struggle.

That fragrance has been on my must try list for a while! Definitely looks like it may be hit and miss though (and it's not cheap) so I've not blind bought it. I would love to try it though - you're right about it being my notes vibe. 🥰
I am not decluttering anything because I am always entertaining the possibility of buying a new perfume but never do. I have a hard time giving my perfume passion space in my life. We all have our struggles
I always hesitate bc my brain says, “what if your nose changes and this becomes a love? Or if you haven’t tried it at the right time of year? Or it could grow on you you just haven’t given it enough time. What if it evolves as it gets older and certain notes become stronger or it projects more, maybe then it could be a love!” Yeah, decluttering is hard for me…

I think the problem with peony is that it's hard to do well, it goes shampooey easily and also can be just lost under everything else.

The question I ask is, "Will I regret decluttering this? Will I miss this?" If no -- then it goes. It's more of the mental space they take up that causes me to declutter. More than the physical or financial space. I find having a collection with fragrances I don't like, that I'm like pushing myself to wear more of just for the sake of that, I find that stressful.

My collection had reached a very uncomfortable number (for me) of 301. 😮😮I’ve decluttered 125 perfumes. My golden rule in everything now is if I buy one I sale one. That goes for my two collections. Magic number is 180 fragrances. And would like to bring it down to 135.

Well, the original euphoria and red door, use to be my signature scent, back in the early 2000s. I recently tried to wear them again, and I didn't like them at all...
It's wild how much our perceptions of certain fragrances can differ over time. I think even just our general perceptions of fragrances WHEN we were in the early 2000's are different from our current ones. My memories of fragrances in those days and how I smell them now don't often mesh either.
L’Aventure Femme smells just like Aventus for Her. That is a love it or hate it fragrance, in my opinion.

Totally! It’s something I think about now before blind buying (it *usually* stops me from blind buying 😇).
The Fcuk brand suck with their atomizers. I recently bought ‘friction’ and it wouldn’t even spray a full spray. I had to press on it like 30 times to get equal to 4-5 full sprays. And then the nozzle thing broke after a week🙄. I had to break the bottle to transfer the perfume in i spray bottle. It was cheap so no big deal and i bought it because of the coconut note( i’m a sucker for coconut perfumes) but c’mon, the spray thing seems to be a regular issue with them from what i can see with your bottle.
