Pretty amazing I got recommended this, I'm a 28 year old guy and I struggle with the thoughts of wasting my 20's/30's and the constant existential fear of death. It was really calming to hear someone else speak through similar issues. Looks like I have a few books to go pickup, I appreciate it!
Like your soft spoken approach toward matters of philosophy, psychology and self help. You have some good books that you motivated me to explore into - may get the Quiet book. My view is ego is an aspect of the mind/brain interface. As such, it is not something that needs to be eradicated but balanced within a whole of mind approach. Not sure this is where the book on stoicism focusses or not but just wanted to mention this about the ego. You have a relaxing approach towards some very interesting topics. Am going to explore more into your other videos.
Love your book asmr! Btw if you are using an iPhone to make videos, remember to turn on the "Mirror Front Camera" in Settings because everything esp. the book covers seem reversed😅
Thank you so much! I'll be making many more videos like this. I'm also trying to think of other things to talk about in this kind of video other than books (since I can only read so fast! haha). Let me know if you have any ideas!
@@rosegardenasmr you're welcome! not sure on things to talk about but I can almost guarantee once you start rambling you will find things to say hehe. talking about the stuff you like is always easy, so maybe if you showed other stuff that you enjoy. 💜
I was so glad to discover your channel via this lovely discussion of your favourite nonfiction books. I think the algorithm that suggested it has a good idea that I love book related asmr. :P I am in a similar mode these days in favouring fiction over nonfiction to some extent right now, though I usually have one of each on the go. So much of the best literature has as much to tell us about the human condition and realities of life though. The novels of Camus I find just as enlightening as his more explicitly philosophical works. 'The Plague', in particular, proved to be quite prescient (unfortunately...). Hopefully we are treated to a similarly relaxing and fascinating video on your favourite works of fiction sometime in the future as well. Glad to be a new subscriber. :)
I just turned 40, and have much of the same fears that you do regarding growing old. Really related to a lot of these books. I, too, am introverted. Also love Ryan Holiday's books. You made me a subscriber. Thanks for being cool and relatable. (That sounds weird, but it's always great to find someone to relate to, lol)
Fellow introvert with social anxiety here. People are exhausting and I have to take them in small doses. I can have one good social outing a month and that's all I need lol.
Thank you for another video! I relate a lot to what you said because I’m an introvert too and share your same fears. I need to read more nonfiction - right now the only nonfiction I read are memoirs
Thank you for another comment! It's good to hear someone else has the same experiences - thank you for sharing. Also not surprising that two introverts like to read ;)
This is the absolute best content I've seen in ASMR. I love your readings, especially Camus! The only problem is I didn't go to sleep cause I wanted to watch what you would present next! hahahaha. Thanks so much for this video.
Overall asmr score: super high, great, awesome. Commercial while using asmr to get to sleep.. not great.(4 mins in). only good as day time video 4 us..& we are busy. We find you super interesting, unique also😊
Hi! Subscribed.. I definitely want to read Quiet. I am an introvert and really have felt like there’s something wrong with me all my life ( 50’s) . I am ordering that and Ty! ❤
I’ve personally read man’s search for meaning and the subtle art. I enjoy stoic reads. Greenlights by matthew mcconaughey is an amazing book about his life. I personally find him stoic in personality. I’m totally interested in staring at the sun. Death is intriguing and scary. Being in the emergency field, I seen enough.
Thank you for sharing these titles! I've read The Subtle Art of and Man's Search for Meaning. Definitely went through a self-help phase that resulted in burnout and found escaping in fantasy was better for my mental health lol. I've been thinking about death lately, usually late at night, and it's been an awful feeling knowing I'm going to fade to black someday. I used to read a lot of Zen Buddhist philosophy and resonate with their teachings regarding the present, but not so much death and the afterlife. I shall check out Staring at the Sun for hopefully a fresh perspective. Thanks again.
DUDE, I just turned 30! I'm just like shoot, what now lol. There's always so much hype around your 20s but I feel like your 30s is where you like can apply all the knowledge gained in your 20s. Also I'll definitely have to pick up Staring at the Sun and check out those philosophy books! I just finished Famine, Affluence, and Morality by Peter Singer, I highly reccommend it for lovers of philosophy.
Lovely video 👍 Thank you for taking a big step outside your comfort zone and uploading this content, you're doing great! I look forward to hopefully seeing many more of your videos in the future 🙂!
I subscribed to you after seeing you on my suggestions. Without sounding freaky, my auntie died of covid a few years ago, her name is Rose, and her favorite karaoke song, and song that the nurses played while she passed away is Loretta Lynns Rose Garden. PS I've got that Jennette McCurdy book downloaded on my kindle, haven't read it yet though.
Your channel came up on my suggestions. And I automatically subscribe because you weren't doing that creepy insane whispering with everybody else does...
Lovely video and incredibly relaxing. Definitely added some books to my to-read list. Thank you!

Thanks for the video and book list. A bit too dark for me, but anyhow the last one I will possibly read.
I love the way you sum up Camus' Myth of Sisyphus! 🙃
Very nice! Kinda interesting that you have the mic so far away, at first I thought you added reverb in post but it's natural room reverb.
My favourite was always large and long fantasy series. The longer the better :p

Hi, thank you. I subbed. Please consider turning commercials off in middle of program as I am trying to sleep :)
I will once I am able to! (TH-cam won't let me until my channel is monetized)

Is this video a reflection from your camera? The book titles look like they are backwards.
