For all the people who are talking about Ogawa's "OCD" habit at the beginning of the match, he's writing the kanji for person on his palm then eating it. It's a Japanese superstition meant to calm your nerves or bolster courage, like how we cross our fingers as a a good luck charm.
Shounen is such an amazing player. It's easy to go on and on about Badlands spam and trap placement but people tend to gloss over the fact that he's very good at reading his opponents while defending. You can see him cycle between normal defense, instant block and faultless defense constantly while defending, and he does it for different reasons. Instant block for big hits, FD to push himself/the enemy away (sometimes even towards a trap) and I've even seen him use normal defense in what seems to be an attempt to gain much-needed tension in critical fights, trading a bit of HP for offense. While he plays a much more aggressive Testament now thanks to Badlands, before that his Testament was particularly brutal when it came to counterattacks.
While watching the TE mirror (this being like my 50th time seeing these matches) I happened to notice a neat bit. I've known for a long time that Shounen was a Testament main before AC, but I think this is the first time I've actually noticed how he uses the net trap outside of combos or oki setups (way more than his opponent does) even going so far as to cleanly bait Machaboo into one at 6:22 by deliberately letting himself get hit on the way down after setting it. Machaboo tried to combo into badlands and ate the net before badlands could hit, leading to a tech recovery and subsequent full conversion from Shounen. That's the kind of trick you just wouldn't see from another Testament, the sort of thing where you know it came from his experience with the character during a time when you couldn't just forward EXE beast FRC for pressure and call it a day.
@axel07 Well yes and no. There's pretty much only two philosophies regarding the strongest player. Either he goes first and takes down as many as he can or he goes as the anchor to save their team. Being the anchor can sometimes be detrimental to your performance because of the pressure. That's probably why Ogawa was first in the team.
both teams are monsters :o and that double overhead of Faust is nut. There have been so many top Faust players, but only RF's gameplay is the true monster level of Faust
Him and Nemo. The problem with RF is that he's too methodical and precise, and while that makes him a good Faust it also makes him dangerously readable. I've seen Kaqn pretty much destroy RF in certain fights because the former was expecting a poke or anticipating what came next in a sequence. What makes Nemo so dangerous, on the other hand, is that he's much more unpredictable and yet can create amazing combos/setups on the fly. I've seen Nemo stump even the likes of FAB, who plays Potemkin (you can't be a good Potemkin player without lots of patience).
@clerk123 damn I didnt even notice doing that little ritual. he taps, wipes, and puts his hand to face 11 times in the first minute before his match. Not to mention he crosses and uncrosses his legs a bunch. damn dude.
@wolfumz ...i don't know if your meaning "for real?" in a "don't be a douche bag and call him on it" way or in a "are you serious?" way. either way OCD's are horrible. anyway, when you see him you can see that he seems to kinda grab/caress his hand and then touching/feeding his mouth. he does it constantly. im guessing its an OCD. or its just a habit he has...or....he was popping some E.
epic... and thats one thing i love of this game... the one who decides the tournament is always changing: eddie, may, millia, faust... not like sf3 for example, that is always chun li -.-

still goes so hard in 2019
I don't miss what Shonen did in real life, but I do miss the No.1 Testament player badly
What did he do in real life tho?

Fucking chills watching this (again) in 2019. SBO was the shit before Evo.
Thanks for the upload!!

@aya2zifei
He still plays Ky, but his main charcter is Testament.
Perhaps I should study that Testament Mirror match a bit... It may help me out in my training.
I wanna the rest of the 2010 tournament
does anyone know when the dvd for GGAC SBO will be released?
It's a surprise that Ogawa chose to play first in the grand finals.
@wolfumz -Couldn't he just be hella nervous? It was the grand finale of SBO afterall.
@Ajd116
Every single character in Ogawa's team is good against Potemkin, so Ogawa doesn't really need to play first.
Yeah ! so intense!
盛り上がってしまうなぁ!
machaboo seems to have a knack for beating ogawa
didn't ogawa beat macahboo in that rev2 ft10?
@axel07 Eddie counterpicks Potemkin. They probably assumed FAB would be first.
I wonder if that hand thing gets in the way of his game.lol
@Crazycuban561 dont worry there makin another for next gen.

i wish there was a way i could play this game online
Welcome to the future lol
why are you surprised by this? ogawa doesn't lose. there was nothing to fear for him
@axel07 i think they were counter-picking against FAB
