Hi Doctor, I will tell you my X-Ray report on my right ankle, and would GREATLY appreciate your advice on how to heal this.
I’ve reportedly suffered a stress fracture on my right ankle from overtraining. I have been running a lot more than I should be…. The X-ray report says:
“Plain X-Ray Ankle Joint XR Ankle Rt - 5cm proximal to the lateral malleolus, there is a small focus of mild periosteal elevation which was not present on the previous film from 2019. This raises the possibility of an early stress fracture. Suggest clinical correlation. No other significant bony abnormality”
Based on this info, could you please tell me how long this will take to recover and recommend exercises which may help. Thank you.

@@NostalgiaMerchant01 thank you so much for watching and I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble. It sounds like a difficult spot. However I would not be able to give you an advice or make a decision based on that amount of information. If you wanted to get on a phone call or webcam call to discuss your situation and your X-ray findings with me personally we could certainly do that.

@ hi doc, thank you for your response. That’s understandable. But could you at least tell me whether this is a minor case of periosteal elevation or not ? As this seems to be your area of expertise.
To give you a backstory and more context: I’ve sustained this injury a month and a half ago. I have felt such minor pain on my right ankle before the day of the injury, but didn’t make much of it and initially planned on completing a 5k run…. But 1.6km in…. My ankle pain was becoming unbearable and I just had to stop. It was swollen on the first day and i was experiencing pain when rotating my foot or moving it in a Plantarflexion and dorsiflexion motion. I have not had any treatment for it and did not immobilise it. I simply just rested it for a few weeks and spoke to my GP for an x Ray check. I did see major improvements and I was able to run a 5k the other day with very minimal discomfort. However, the moment I stopped running, I kind of went back to square one and it’s in pain again. It’s nowhere near as bad as it is when I first sustained the injury, but it does hurt when I walk up or down the stairs and I am slightly limping. I have been using a resistant band and I feel that my right ankle clicks when I push my foot against the resistant band. Any sort of advice you could offer in this comment section would be appreciated.
I am situated in the U.K., so getting on a call is quite hard.

@@NostalgiaMerchant01 No, I am sorry but I will not. I do not make quick decisions which could result in bad advice. I do not provide individualized medical advice over social media comments.

Thank you for watching. Great question..that
depends upon the specifics of the runner's individual situation.
