Great video Jim! It's funny how no one rushed down to the beach at sunrise on the west coast like they do over here, but the reverse at sunset. Nice to be almost all alone on the beach! Beautiful morning you had! Wonderful images, especially that 4-minute long exposure!!! The red light is also good for sea turtles. They are attracted to white light and disorients them as they try to make their way to the ocean, so nice work using the red light. And yes, 60 degree temps are a bit chilly, but welcomed, for those of us with Florida blood. Thank you for the shout-outs as well, really appreciate that!! Another wonderful video Jim! Glad you both had a great trip here to Florida!
Thanks so much, Paul. This has made me want to do more sunrise photography here… but it’s 19° here and snowing this morning. I’m kinda ready for Spring! Never knew that about sea turtles! I’ll file that factoid away for future use. Maybe there’s something to being contrarian… try some sunset shots from the east coast? 🤔🤔
@@VintageInsightPhotography with Florida being so flat, there are very few places unfortunately where I live that has an open view to the west for a good sunset shot.
@@paulcookphotography you could be a total non-conformist and point your lens East. That sun rising from behind in Venice lit the pier with golden light for 2-3 minutes. It was really striking. My photo doesn’t do it justice.
Hi mate, glad to see your filters survived the PC3Photo meet ! Looks like a lovely way to spend the morning and to capture it. Loved the image at 1:35 with the Pier reaching out to sea the colour pallet is lovely with all the blue and magenta tones and for me i personally liked the first image of the under pier shot at 3:41. Lovely way to spend the morning, take care mate enjoyed that
Beautiful photos of the pier. I think the First ones were the best. Yes it sounds cold at upper 60's℉, not 😆 Did you need a chiropractor after you yoga? 😀
Thank you so much. It’s reached a high of 28°F today in Michigan. ☃️ The beach yoga was a great experience. It was geared toward an older demographic than us, so it was pretty easy. Quiche Lorraine after yoga at a wonderful French pastry shop.
Hey James!! Thanks for the video, I love it. I like color pictures, but I am B&W guy. I love long exposure pictures, but I lack of experience in this matter. Glad to see your videos.
Looks like a great place to compose! It's funny how for some people "sunrise location" means sunrise in the sky and landscape in shade, and for some people it means sunrise behind lighting the landscape, and I've been in a few meetings where this caused some confusion 😂. I think you were there at just the right time.
Great shot under the pier, personally I prefer the first edit but that’s just personal preference - I always struggle with mono after seeing same image in colour
Thanks! I like that shot too. I find it fascinating how people see images, shapes, colors, etc. I often see more clarity in B&W images. Color often distracts me from the balance and composition of an image. I have been known to set my EVF to B&W so I can focus on the tonality and balance of an image and not be distracted by the color. I fade between three edits of the same image in the video. Color, high contrast color, and B&W. I still can’t decide which of the three I prefer.
@@VintageInsightPhotography I liked the high contrast one, if I'd have seen that stand alone then I'd pick that, but I liked that glow on the beams in the first image that became a little desaturated (in comparison) in the second. I rarely do B&W conversions for those similar reasons. If I do B&W then I have to have done it 'in camera' as it were - of course, taking it to the processing stage, but having shot in mono. For me it is a very different way of shooting and requires a different way of composing and thought process alongside......this of course is not the same for everyone...just how my brain untangles it best.
Love the BW pier images!
Thanks, Dave. It’s hard to go wrong with a subject like that.
Lovely photos. :-) and a beautiful location and subject.
Thank you so much. It truly is a beautiful location!

Brilliant video! Beautiful locations and images! Such a positive experience!
Thanks so much! I’m trying to bring a glimmer of hope and positivity to my videos. Life’s too short to waist it being negative. 😁
Those compositions you found were absolutely gorgeous, nice rewards for the early wakeup call! Wonderful work as always my friend!
Thank you so much!
Here comes the sun 🌞 beautiful photo captures 💕 I loved both the black & whites and the color.
Ba-da-da-da-da… it was a beautiful morning! The best part was sneaking glimpses of you doing yoga on the beach.
More B&W to come in the future!

Looks like you've had a great time, Paul's got some competition for Florida pier images now.
We had a terrific time. Didn’t realize how much we needed some time away. I truly believe Paul’s position in seascape photography is quite secure.
Amazing video, thanks for sharing compositions and photography tips.
Thank you so much. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Mate sensational images and that last B&W was an absolute ripper.

Sure, I love your idea. With film will be awesome. I have two years working with film and I love the whole process
