Should you Buy the MEIKI MK 320 for macro photography in 2023?

Is a good flash for casual shooting, i won't use in in TTL mode, just manual mode and is good enough. You can't spec a $60 flash with 2 AAA batteries to be used for professional work or in your case macro photography.
What doesn't work for you is no necessary bad for everybody else.

I used to one a Meike 320S when I owned a Sony A7II, A9 and A7R4, and I now own a 320P that I have used with an Olympus EM1X, EM1.3 and now with both of my OM1s. I was obviously pleased with my 320S, so much so that I purchased the M43 version. I have never experienced the problems you have with yours, even when I was practising using it for in camera focus stacking with my OM1s. There is one issue when focus stacking, however, and this is the emitted light can be a little inconsistent, leaving a dark patch on the subject.

Interesting. I know from other reviewers that it seems like the quality control can be a little inconsistent. Perhaps mine was just a lemon in a way. I might purchase another one for my sony to see if it has the same issues

It works nice om my Nikon Z6 but it doesn´t fire with my Z9.

This flash doesn't appear to register aperture changes on my camera body. I have a nikon d5300. Maybe my settings are wrong? I'm thinking of returning the flash if problem can't be resolved. Please help!

I believe it will only automatically make the changes if you have both the camera and flash set to TTL. Verify they are set to TTL. If they are. And it's still not adjusting, your likely have a faulty product

@@OldManJacobPhotography Thank you! I've managed to figure it out eventually. I think the flash wasn't adjusted well to the hot shoe so it wasn't making the connection. It's fine now and I'm happy with it. ☺

Are you aware if the sony version of 320 work with a7c ? Its not listed in compatible devices?

I'm not sure. Maybe someone else will know. I can't imagine why it Wouldn't be. It might be worth a phone call to sony or adorama or something

On my less expensive setup, I use the Laowa 100mm 2x. On my OM-1 I use the M.Zuiko 90mm 2x. Both are excellent quality macro lenses
