The Making of "Men Of The Sea" (2013)

This video contains the process behind a production of "Men Of The Sea" / Laki-Laki Laut.
Based on the 14th- and 15th-century writings of adventurers on their journey to find “Nusantara”-now known as Indonesia, Papermoon Puppet Theatre’s Laki Laki Laut (Men of the Sea) invites audiences to explore the country’s history through myth.
We took a journey to Lasem, a small town in northern part of Java, and spent weeks there for a research.
Combining puppet performance, acting, dance, video, and a large-scale, moving carousel puppet installation designed by Iwan Effendi, "Men Of The Sea" / Laki-Laki Laut offers all kinds of surprises.
