Hi Rachel, hope your Christmas was wonderful and Happy New Year to all of you. I have always loved Weleda skin food, especially the light version for my face. I've heard it may be a dupe for La Mer cream, but it's great as a night cream and your skin will look beautiful in the morning. I also use body cream or butter mixed with a few drops of body oil to use on my legs, arms and heels. If I were your cat I'd love the back massage you gave him and cuddling on a heating blanket. My brother and I used to kid about how my mom's dog had privileges we kids never had. During winter I love soups, stews and one pot hearty meals too. Getting a good night's sleep gets harder and harder the older you get unfortunately. I have to say having black out blinds and covering any little light sources from clock radio's, the T.V. and other devices really helps to get more sleep. Have a great week and keep warm.
Rachel, I used to have insomnia, too, and I started using chamomile tea at night, which I also sometimes switch up with magnesium, manufactured by Moon Juice. With both of these, I sleep solid through the night, and it’s been a game changer for me! I also don’t wake up with the grogginess that I used to have when I would take melatonin… With both chamomile, and magnesium , I ingest them at night, about an hour before bed, and I make sure that I’m doing something relaxing during that time, with the lights low and dim. That preps my body for sleep really well! I don’t mix magnesium and chamomile, because they both knock me out hard, and I’m scared to combine them. But I switch between one or the other… I also make sure that that my home is pretty cool at night, because I sleep better when it’s cold, and I’m wrapped in blankets…. Another thing that I did, was cut out caffeine in the afternoon and beyond. I only have it in the mornings now, and sometimes a little pick me up at noon… I hope this helps with your insomnia! It’s been a game changer for me! I used to sleep, so poorly, and would wake up multiple times a night every night. That went on for years before I began doing this.
Hi Rachel. My homeopath suggested to me to detox my liver a while back. She said that your body wants to detox at two or three in the morning. If it is struggling, you would wake up. It worked for me. Just a suggestion. Xx
Oh interesting. I think it's because I struggle to drink enough water, especially in the winter. I consume lots of tea, and probably need to drink more water.

This has been a very mild winter. We are outside almost daily. We love it here. The weather is gorgeous.. it’s colder than CA, but we’ve become accustomed to it and I love the seasons.
I love tinted moisturizer for these winter months! But I have to set mine. And I believe in blush - cream blush! And I just found Covergirl tinted lip balm. LOVE!!!
I've got fine hair that gets knotted as well. Try the shea moisture strengthen leave in conditioner. Apply on damp hair and detangle with a wide toothed comb. Lifesaver 😅
oooh.. Thanks for the tip. I'm gonna try that ASAP. Braiding my hair before bed helps too.. I guess I toss and turn a lot and it creates a giant nest in the back of my head. lol
@racheltalbott that used to happen to me too lol. But since trying the above method, I don't have that problem anymore! I tie my hair into a bun and it brushes out easily the next day. And only use a tiny amount!
I try to do breath work or say a prayer till I fall asleep. Lately I have been putting headphones in and listening to the Aura app that I mentioned in this video. It’s very soothing with different sounds, stories etc. I fall right back asleep. It’s been very soothing and relaxing. It’s been great. 🙏🏻

I thought dry brushing was meant to be done in a gentle manner, not as vigorous as you show.
It depends on your sensitivity. I like it a bit more vigorous, but you can dry brush at whatever pressure you prefer.
