It’s funny how we seem happy with a plastic sandwich and a free cuppa nowadays. I fondly remember the great BR breakfast with a mountain of bacon and egg cooked on board and served off a silver service platter with endless coffee. Happy days!
Hi mate, thanks for watching appreciated. I'm easily pleased, but too young to remember what first class was like yesteryear. Hopefully it'll get better in the future.
As of august 2024 you will will find a branded placemat along with a bottle of water and cup on all West Coast lines. Other complimentary food and refreshments are available upon request.
Heads up. New catering is coming on the WCML including beef stew, highland breakfasts and vegan options. They want to rival Avanti as a trial and it will extend to the rest of the Nova fleet if proven successful. It starts on the 26th of Feb.
Thanks for the video and glad you had a positive experience of TPE. The latter's main problem is on the busy Manchester-Leeds sector where, since the class 68s have been withdrawn, means there's less capacity and endless reports of overcrowding. As for PA103 ... the 747 started in FRA and stopped en route at LHR. The terrorists timed the bomb to explode over the ocean after PA103 had departed UK airspace. But the terrorists never factored in delays departing LHR on the day in question ... hence the explosion occurred earlier than planned.
@@Aidankiwi Thanks for clarifying. Memory lapse from me ! Back in 1971 I remember taking PA's RTW flight FRA-LHR which was operated by 747 and PA had fifth-freedom rights FRA-LHR.
I've done this journey a few times as I used to go to uni in manchester. The fun thing was glasgow going between central and queen street with luggage to go home. This was in the era of virgin cross country HSTs mind. 21st October? 21st December 1988 PA103, the feeder from germany to heathrow was PA103A, this is the LHR to Detroit. I always feel a bit erk when passing through lockerbie.
Couple of errors in your description of Pan Am 103. The crash occurred on 21st December, not October. The flight was from London Heathrow to New York JFK. There were connecting flights at either end to/from Frankfurt and Detroit that did bear the same flight number but were operated by different aircraft.
I remember that day well. I was at Lancaster waiting for a train to Preston and it was running about 15/20 mins late. Apparently the Driver had to relieved at Carlisle because he saw the 747 Jumbo Jet explode in mid air around the Lockerbie area.
Great video mate. Can you do a journey from London Euston to Blackpool North via Birmingham New Street on Avanti West Coast in first class pls. Have a nice day and stay safe
I wish they had a direct service from Hull, via Leeds and Manchester Victoria to Holyhead, any operator - same with foot passenger only ferries from Liverpool (not Birkenhead) to Dublin (North Wall - or even Dun Laoire) via the DART into Dublin - if the Irish government are serious about implementing thier EU driven ban on shorthaul flights between Ireland and the U.K. this will focus minds a lot, unless they are also going to implement their 15 mins smart cities as well

Yep. First class is just a "better"? Seat these days. I remember proper catering in First Class. Bring it back! They charge enough for it. Pip Pip.
LNER do a decent breakfast on their Dine services

@@CrystalGTUK Now available on TPEs website. It's being named "The West Coast Kitchen"
Good to see that TPE delivered on this particular journey. I think your "proceed with caution" advice should definitely be followed though. Cheers.

The FRA-LHR sector was a connecting flight operated by a Boeing 727 but did carry the same PA103 flight number. The 747 started @ LHR.

Interesting viewing. I have never been to Manchester airport, so it was all new to me. TPE is worth a shot.
