Exploring Amusement Park Rides

  • I'm my search of a suitable trailer to convert into a mobile stage, I came across a fair in Barrhaven Ontario that was in the process of being set up, which is also ironic because I was just on my way to buy a used carnival trailer that may or may not have worked out (you will have to stay tuned to my channel to find out ;). I am currently thinking that one of these older game trailers might be a suitable candidate for a project, but I am still leaning towards the cube truck idea, none the less, there is going to be a lot of welding in the near future on my channel. These amusement park rides and trailer have all the same mechanical features that a mobile stage would have, opening and closing sections controlled by hydraulics, as well as a whole slew of other mechanical features. They are all a fantastic disply of mechanical and artistic beauty, and everyone of them are unique in their design and function. It was a lot of fun exploring these rides in their setup stages, as well as speaking with some of the ride operators, and I also got to interview the head mechanic for the entire festival, which was really facinating ! If this sounds interesting to you, than you will really enjoy this video ;) See you soon ;)

    All the old paratroopers I’ve ever seen had a gas or diesel power plant. Everything now is mainly electric but back in the not so much.

    Bud, try being the person that sets those rides up and actually works there and knows what everything is and how it goes. I'd love to see a normal person that has a desk job or a blue-collar job. Try and come set up rides for a day. They'd probably have a really rough day. We we set up certain rides while we can actually set up all the rides with 25 guys in 1 day and 6 hours. If we try at work there for 4 years.

    Cool video🎪🎡🎠 Your thirst for knowledge is inspiring Scotty. It really makes your videos fun to watch...no matter what you film you give 💯...no mundane here. Was nice to see Jayla & Zoey🐕 My husband's brother used to be a carny for Albion Amusements in Ontario. In Timmins,Ontario here we only get Beauce Carnival...in the 80's we could pay using Canadian Tire $ lol Anywho...cool video👌🏼Wishing you Jayla & Zoey a great Easter weekend.

    It's a 1967 frank hurbits paratrooper he was an architect from new York city and had a few ride ideas that just happened to be Three of the most beloved carnival rides built the tip top the paratrooper and the trambant from 1964 to 1977

    If it's not permanently mounted to the ground it's an amusement park ride and if it has wheels it's a carnival ride

    I wish I could find a video or time lapse of the "Sky Wheel" or "Double Ferris Wheel"

    • @UOttawaScotty
      @UOttawaScotty  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely, I can't picture how either one of those rides is supposed to turn into a trailer !

    • @jpayne3616

      @@UOttawaScotty it's absolutely amazing how it's done. Just a shame they are prehistoric now. The skywheel could be seen maybe 2 miles away where I live and seeing that glowing yellow wheel turning in the sky on the way to the fair when I was a kid was the greatest thing ever man

    • @UOttawaScotty
      @UOttawaScotty  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jpayne3616 I have similar memories of other rides, but I never had the pleasure of seeing the skywheel, so I can understand completely your sentiment. Interestingly, the fascination with these machines has not deminished as an adult, instead I just have a whole new appreciation for the incredible mechanical engineering and artistic touch. These rides always gave me anxiety as a young kid, and admittedly, there were a few that I chickened out on, these old rides are intimidating, you look at them and see the industrious steel structures and immediately feel an element of danger...like something could go wrong. The reality is that these rides were made so strong that a lot of them are over 50 years old and still operating. The operator of the Area 51 ride in my video here stated that his ride was made in 1967 ! Still, imagining the loads on certain points of these machines makes the imagination get going. I would have loved to see the massive generator and fuel tank in the Fun Power generator trailer though, maybe Ill research to see if I can find some pictures. Thanks for your comment, nice to know there are other people out there that appreciate these machines.

    You’re so clueless about trailer mounted rides, and carnivals! 🤣 also the starship walls pull inwards and slide onto the trailer.

    • @brianmaxei8898
      @brianmaxei8898 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No they don't you have to use a hoist and hookup each section and place it on the edge of the ride platform that folds down I've set it up and torn down aswell as run the ride for bill hammer

  • @dannyland1212
    @dannyland1212 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    So you want to buy rides?

    • @UOttawaScotty
      @UOttawaScotty  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm examining these trailers because my goal is to make a mobile stage, which is essentially a trailer with folding pieces controlled by hydraulics. These trailers have all the same systems that a mobile stage would have, so I am trying to see how these systems can be fabricated. I was looking at buying a carnival game trailer and converting it into a mobile stage.

    If you don't know what you're talking about the carnival then don't own you're own shit, sorry to say it but you'll do terrible, carnival rides are not cheap same with the permits & license's you need

      @UOttawaScotty  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm not looking to get into carnival rides, I just think they are really beautiful and interesting and the purpose of the video is just to do some exploration. I would imagine there would be a lot hoops to jump through to actually run one of these rides
