My wife & I just purchased a new (to us) Class C and we are upgrading all kinds of things. I just changed all the bulbs (inside and outside) to LEDs along with changing all the storage locks to barrel-style key locks. Your channel is a great inspiration so keep up the good work!
Just upgraded 2 switches with dimmers after watching this. Must say - the WAGO connectors are awesome. Wish I would have known of those years ago. Thanks for the very informative videos.
I put two of those dimmers in myself. Swapped out the halogen puck lights for dimmable LED’s and we enjoy them much, much more. There had been 7 halogens and they were so bright, it was like being on stage! Plus the heat generated was ridiculous. Now we keep those LEDs powered down low and it’s much more comfortable.
I just added the dimming switch to our LED lights in our living room and bedroom, makes a big difference! Only difference is that I sued the smaller switch with a small slide on it. Another GREAT video and very informative, thanks Brian!
Thanks for the tip on the WAGO connectors. I've been using POSI-Locks but these look to be handier. I'm about to install a dual USB port on each side of our RV bed so we can use a simple USB reading light for more focused light than we presently have.
I just told you about my Minnesota Winnie I had already started my list of things I'm going to do and changing the lights out were on the list and that Wago connection is very cool I didn't no about it. I had restoreda 1978 Westfalia that I worked on for two years and I used those puck lights all over it. If you like I can send you pictures from that project I think you will be impressed. So anyway I will be in touch on my solar work. I plan on using your ideas.
HAVE BEEN WATCHING YOUR VIDIOS FOR A WHILE. YOU MAKE SOME OF THE BEST DIY VIDIOS. ALWAYS INTERESTING TO WATCH. THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO PRODUCE THEM.
Those dimmer lights are sweet! We have a 2019 OutdoorsRV 24RKS travel trailer and are now in the mode of making modifications. The first upgrade happened a couple of weeks ago. I took the plunge and got a Battle Born 100 Ah LiFePO4 battery and installed a lithium compatible Progressive Dynamics converter charger. Everything seems to be working great. It's amazing how fast that battery can charge! Solar is next!
I replaced all my lights with similar to original but daylight LED, always wanted dimmer night light though, will definitly buy the ones you suggested. I have a similar RVAlways wandered the best way to access the space under the cabinet. Thanks!
Hi Brian! Been following for a couple years. You are a total inspiration. I had to try your tip on using the alligator clip and wire to divert the water that was running down the side of our class c that drains from our AC. Wow! So simple yet so effective! Also just finished a major floor repair. Had to hit the whole bathroom floor and part of the hallway. I took it in for an estimate at our local rv dealership and they wanted $4000.00 to redo the floor. That didn’t include the leak! Again, encouraged by your video, The total cost after tools and materials $400.00!!!!! Thanks so much. Oh yeah, love the dimmers. May have to do that one too!
Thanks for the comment Steve. I'm so glad you find my projects inspiring. Yeah. I think some (not all) RV repair is a racket...kind of like health insurance. Makes you wonder if they're jacking up the costs for the insurance reimbursement.
Tito is a handy man. I've been electrician for 40 year now. The new wago is even smaller than these. Another name used is handbrakewago or mistakewago (tabbewago) I will replace the old light with downlighs like this in black. Therwill be a hole in the middle, So I mus use three I think I will use it's ovn switch for the middle light. I will order a remotce cntrol. Here in Norway I use a 4kw Rvtransformer 230v AC50HZ - 120vAC/60Hz for my North American RV. I use both 120v and 230v outlet inside the RV at the campeside with shorepower. Can use converters too.
Nice addition, love those puck lights.. We have center lights and I've been looking for dimmable LED replacements for 18" fluorescent lights.. sadly, no real access to the ceiling wiring other than by the light itself.
Doesn’t the reflectex work BECAUSE it reflects though? I know it’s a good insulator for cold weather but doesn’t the shiny need to show to reflect the heat back out?
I just discovered the Wago connectors about a month ago and now i won’t use anything else. They are simple and work every time. I will be copying your ideas about adding a little electrical tape to provide additional security to the connections. Thanks
Great vid. I ordered some non-dimming ones & got ‘em swapped out where I had single bulb housings under 3 different cabinets. Question: Is there something along these lines that can replace the old dual-bulb housing style light fixtures? I have some of those on the ceiling of my Class-C we’d like to replace
Love this idea! I have been wanting a dimmer over our couch, I need the husband look at this & see if he can do this. We already have the lights, just no dimmer.
Nice. Just picked up new Grand Design 310GK, however, all the LED lights in ceiling have particles in the fixtures -:guess the vacuum must not have worked well that day or thought the virus might spread or something. Also noticed a lot of wood particles in cabinets, flooring, cupboards. Especially notices on first trip away from dealer. Any way to safely pull out the LED lights from ceilings and get white cover off to vacuum them clean and put back together? I tried putting in the LCI thin shade for door prepped window, top went in fine, the bottom was difficult, and the latch on lower left broke off...so hoping the three will work, or how to replace the inside of the thin shade windoe
Hey buddy I know this is kind of like an old video but hey can you tell me what kind of fuse box is in your RV it's electric in 12 volt do you have a model number on there that I might be able to get I need to get me one for mine cuz I'm doing a rehab on mine I really appreciate you Good job on the lights thank you sir and what kind of puck lights are those thank you
Ideal makes Connectors that are like that but are push in (Ideal In-Sure push in Connectors and they also have them just like the Wago that are called Ideal In-Sure Lever Connectors but are a bit cheaper than Wago. Thought you might be interested in them.
3.5 years later - how is that dimmer switch holding up? Early in your video, when you were moving the slider up and down, it looked like there was some wobble to it, which makes me wonder about the manufacturing quality.
Thanks Tito, hadn't seen those dimmer combo switches before. Great find! FYI: Beware of press-fit parts that need metric hole-saws, drills, and bits... Amazon seems to be kinda slack on their selection.
I've replaced all the light bulbs in my trailer with daylight led bulbs because of our old eyes. We're past the stage of needing mood lighting! Wow, those Wago connectors would've been really great when I recently replaced the incandescent tail lights on the trailer with led units! I think I'll just order those just to carry around in the trailer. Thanks!

Glad you like them! I loved what you said "making simple projects interesting". Others have said "making difficult projects look simple". If I combine them, I think I've got a new slogan :) Hmmm.
Well done. I would like to run a set of wires with a switch to the extrerior on both side to be able to add some security lights.. Any thoughts how to run the wires on the inside of the roof.
Just installed 2 of these same dimmer switches for the main living and bedroom ceiling lights. Nice upgrade. Way too bright most of the time in stock form.
Once again another great video Brian! I have a two pole LED's set up, (one switch at the entry way, and another switch in the hallway) Think I could put a dimmer on one of the swtiches and it would still work to dim? Once again, I watch all your video's thanks again for all the tips and idea's over the years. Mark
Love your detailed instructions with nice video shots, Great job! Just bought a 2018 24' Coachmen Galleria which seems to have everything, but, I'm sure eventually I will have to modify or add components. I will definitely check out your channel for your easy to understand tips! Thanks so much! Safe travels!
I can’t believe how expensive those switches are!! I’d recommend using a PWM motor speed controller that uses a knob to turn on and dim as a cheaper alternative.
Nice job Brian! You need one of those oscillating multi-tools for cutting those slots. PC250MT. No drill required, just a few plunge cuts. Thanks for the links to those connectors!
So true. I thought that as I was drilling out that hole. Everytime I need one I say "next time". Checked them out at Home Depot the other day. So maybe I'll have one for the next project.
Hello I am loving your vlogs! Just found you tonight. I want to make our main living area lights dimmable. There are 5 lights connected to the main control panel light switch. How could I go about making those lights dimmable? Thank you so much. I look forward to your reply.
Awesome video Tito. Just subscribed to your channel. Im a first time RVer with pretty decent DIY electrical experience in 120v AC and a little 12v Dc (stereo/fog light installs in rigs). I’m getting ready to install a dimmer for our bedroom ceiling lights- 2020 grand design imagine 3100RD TT. I’ve pulled the existing switch and it’s a standard 2-pole with those flat spade connectors. The power (line) side is a single 12v wire and on the load (to lights) side, its two wires crimped nicely into one spade connector. The problem is there’s no ground in that wall to connect the 3rd wire on the dimmer. This however is the same wall that the converter/breaker/fuse panel is located. I know you can’t see my system, but any recommendations on finding a suitable ground would be appreciated. I’ll of course use my multimeter when doing my job.
There will certainly be a grounded negative bussbar near the DC panel. There will also be one on the light fixture itself that you could splice into. The negative DC wires are typically white.
Brian, I literally JUST received that dimmer control I purchased for another project on my bedroom reading lights. Maybe I am jumping the gun here because I haven't finished your video... did you have any issue with LED lights and a dimmer? I am looking for replacement bulbs for the project I am working on and they all say "Non-Dimmable". I also noticed on the back of mine it has a tab you can barely see for "3-way switching". Of course, no directions came with mine... might have to experiment!
@@RVwithTito I will have to try it and see. The bulbs that go in the bed side lights are CEC1076, was just going to buy some standard ones so I didn't have to worry about it. Thanks again for another great video! Now that I finally have my RV at my home, instead of at Camping World collecting dust as they jerk me around on repairs they were never going to do(sorry, I'm not too mad)... I'm doing all kinds of upgrades! Yeah, you inspired me on many of them! Maybe I should be recording some of this. :)
Brian nice Light mod! But you need a 'Mulit purpose' tool for cutting square holes! A nice, neat clean hole fast and easy! Check it out! Nice mod again! BobnRobin
Your dimmer is a three wire high side. If you have three wires going in, your good to go. However, How do you wire if you're a two wire RV with bother wires hot? We're you're switch isn't a grounded switch? Your switch is a disconnect, not a conventional on/off switch?
My three ceiling lights ground individually about 5 inches away from the light and they are 4v each. See where this is heading? Now, I know I'm gonna have to use the that top pin on the back of the switch, correct? I'm gonna need to find wich of the two wires is from the battery. Do i create my own ground and run a third wire to the lights? Do I need a regulator between power and this new dimmer switch? Can I ground off the wall plug 20" away or do I need to go all the way back to the regulator?
Sorry. I ment all the way back to the battery. Nobody seems to know. I followed what the manufacturer recommended and that was the dumbest untested crap I've ever heard. Plus, I only got half the lighting, the lights didn't dim, the on/off switch no longer worked and I was to slide the dimmer up and down to turn the lights off or, on.
BTW you need to get yourself an DEWALT DCS354B ATOMIC 20V Max Brushless Cordless, it makes cutting those hard to get to locations like where you but the switch and dimmer a breeze..
I stopped paying attention to that 10 years ago. There are many factors like mountains, towing, wind, etc. I'd guess, while towing, between 6-9. A little better when not towing.
Tito! you usually are so good at explaining things. For me there was too much "abracadabra" with this video...too much that we didn't see and didn't show..just said the words and end result. btw, I do electronics. I'll be able to figure this out but then I wouldn't have watched your video. Those connectors were good to learn about, though. Thank you for that.
Time to invest in a Sonic Crafter for cutting those square holes. Plunge cutting, sanding, scraping they can’t be beat. If you don’t want to spend that kind of money, get a knock-off at Harbor Freight.
hi brian great video as always. the only improvement in your presentations is more of your beautiful wife😊 hoping my 74 gmc mh builder in IN will follow my lead by sending him pictures and amazon info to use the what u r using . i see u pull a crv- what towing system do you use? blue ox? be well and safe
Am I crazy or are the switches swapped in the video? The rocker switch is where the “dimmer” label is and the slider is where it says “on/off”. Not that it matters based on where you ended up putting it lol. Manufacturing mistake?
Nice job. I would have added a usb plug in middle of the 2 lights for our power hungry devices But I know you dont like hanging cords. Ka7qqv Don Weber
They must think that because we can have an RV or Motor Home we are rich. I'm on disability and might be able to put one such light and dimmer switch every couple months. I guess I'll just have to get creative with lights I can get at Harbor Freight and such.
Sorry, lost me. This didn’t show the needed details. Primarily, didn’t connect the dots between each lights to the dimmer - reds whites and blacks, or how you described was going to be each seat’s ability to control individual dimmer levels, or how they tie in to the main power. A simple diagram we could freeze on and refer to would be invaluable, too. So in the end, no detail on connections to make this actionable.

What's it mean when you dim the LED puck lights and they emit a buzzing sound ?
Some fixtures do that if they're not designed for dimming (I think). I haven't had any buzzing with these.
Love the hidden dimmer switch. WAGO is nice but $$$. They are great to use in places where you will be back into it.
Great project .... so tell me more about the clear plastic or Plexiglas containers you use in the cabinets.... I think I need to get those.

Can this dimmer/switch unit be wired to existing ceiling LED fixtures to dim lights? Is there a max # of fixtures (wattage) it can dim?
It has a 9V - 16V range with 10A max current rating. Multiply the volts and amps to get wattage.
Brian nice Light mod! But you need a 'Mulit purpose' tool for cutting square holes! A nice, neat clean hole fast and easy! Check it out! Nice mod again! BobnRobin
Don't I know it :) I"mm sure I'll have one soon.
Nice job!
Thanks!
I know I do :) I was looking at them at Home Depot the other day. I'll get one soon.
Dewalt dcs3548
Great job!!
Thank you!
By the way, Tito, love those recliners!
We do too!
Tito, what is the MPG on your RV for long trips?
I stopped paying attention to that 10 years ago. There are many factors like mountains, towing, wind, etc. I'd guess, while towing, between 6-9. A little better when not towing.
Are those new lights still individually operated?
Yes.
Tito! you usually are so good at explaining things. For me there was too much "abracadabra" with this video...too much that we didn't see and didn't show..just said the words and end result. btw, I do electronics. I'll be able to figure this out but then I wouldn't have watched your video. Those connectors were good to learn about, though. Thank you for that.
Thanks for the feedback. Just sharing lighting upgrade ideas on this one, not a step by step wiring tutorial. Yes. Those WAGO connectors are the best.
Thanks, Tito!
You're welcome....tripple comment.
Time to invest in a Sonic Crafter for cutting those square holes. Plunge cutting, sanding, scraping they can’t be beat. If you don’t want to spend that kind of money, get a knock-off at Harbor Freight.
Just picked up an oscillating tool today. Next rectangular hole will be much cleaner. Thx.
Hey Brian .. been following you for years .. where’s the merch?
No merch for sale but I have some tshirt and hoodie designs were experimenting with. What are you looking for?
Tee shirt / hat
I subscribed to your channel now
Welcome!
Safety glasses when drilling!
What gauge wire did you use to add lights?
#14 AWG
RV with Tito DIY Thank you. Will that dimmer work to dim 2, or 3 of those small pucks?
@@twdenman1 Yes. I have it connected to two pucks above the TV. Adding more should not be a problem.
i thought those connectors where so impressive i actually paused and ordered a set from amazon....thx
That's funny. I'm sure you'll like them. It's almost time for me to buy more because I use them so much. I've been using the 100 pack for a while now.
hi brian
great video as always. the only improvement in your presentations is more of your beautiful wife😊
hoping my 74 gmc mh builder in IN will follow my lead by sending him pictures and amazon info to use the what u r using .
i see u pull a crv- what towing system do you use? blue ox?
be well and safe
I'm towing with a Roadmaster All Terrain
Am I crazy or are the switches swapped in the video? The rocker switch is where the “dimmer” label is and the slider is where it says “on/off”. Not that it matters based on where you ended up putting it lol. Manufacturing mistake?
Might be. I think the faceplate can be flipped and go on either way.
Tito-pucks 👍🏻
:)
Nice job. I would have added a usb plug in middle of the 2 lights for our power hungry devices
But I know you dont like hanging cords. Ka7qqv Don Weber
I actually did add a dual charger in the recliner storage. Plus there's one next to the recliner. So 4 should do 😃.
That switch seemed to be labelled wrong- the on off is the rocker, the dimmer is the slider. Not the reverse
I probably had the faceplate flipped upside down.
Beautiful Brian! Another project that is on the list this autumn as I want to replace almost all of the fixtures.
Thanks. Good luck with the project!

They must think that because we can have an RV or Motor Home we are rich. I'm on disability and might be able to put one such light and dimmer switch every couple months. I guess I'll just have to get creative with lights I can get at Harbor Freight and such.
Sorry to hear that. Doesn't matter where you get the stuff. Just sharing ideas. If you need help don't hesitate to email me.
Why didn't you add dimmer to existing lights
I already have a dimmer on that one, but it's hidden. We also wanted individual controls for each side.
You know that some future owner of this RV will be cussing you someday because he won't know how to turn those lights on.
That's never a concern for me.
A couple of your links no longer work. Great video otherwise.
