Thank you for the informative video Navin. I'm from Shimla (well Mandi actually but have never stayed there) and have been living in Canada for the last 20 years. The current laws should stay in place and should not be changed. Himachal has a unique culture and our people are susceptible to manipulation quite easily. We are simple people at heart and we're a small population. Any change in the law will result in our people getting swamped and that will result in Assam like situation. We don't want industrialization in the state. There are several other methods to improve employment in Himachal without necessarily destroying the environment. We have already partially destroyed our beautiful state. Every time I travel to India and drive around in Himachal it breaks my heart to see the concrete structures built by both the Govt & people that are so out of character with the natural surroundings. Our so-called tourist places have become garbage dumps thanks to the callous tourists who have no civic sense. The civic authorities are as out of touch with the ground reality & aspirations of the people as is the state Govt. Thanks to our first chief minister Dr. YS Parmar, we have this law. If we left it to the wisdom of the current breed of politicians this state would have gone to dogs long ago. I only recently came across your videos and really liked these. By the way I have stayed in Kullu & Banjar in the late 70s when my father was posted as DFO both at Banjar & Kullu. I would like to meet you on my next trip to India if I travel to Bajoura. I m totally agree with the fact no one should be eligible to buy as outsiders. And as a flat we can buy. But as per my views one more ammendment it needed that even the builders should be also from himachal and with same condition fulfilled. So that the gaint builders cannot enter in devbhoomi 🙏 As I have seen the builder like dlf, Raheja, rel buildtech and many more like that are doing the same way of industrialisation in a differ way, My opinion only , No hard feelings to any one. But due to these restrictions , aren’t most of the young talent moving out for jobs ? At some extent at least the IT sector should be set up . Nalagarh is already hub for pharmaceutical companies . It’s government job to make sure that Himachal’s sanity is not compromised. Definitely not at cost of our himachal’s purity and culture.

Section 118 is a landmark itself .see the main problem is that our economy is mainly tourism based and employability is mainly dependent on government sector that's why people of himachal except kullu and shimla and areas where people grow apple other expensive fruits runs towards city's like delhi and mumbai for employment to solve this we should take example of Switzerland how they change their economy tourism based without harming their beauty
I support this section should be entact, however, It should also include them not allowing to buy land in other states to make it just. Right now, it appears biased towards Himachal people prosperity. Not allowing them to buy land in other state will give a sense that they want to preserve their environment and culture and in return leaving the their righ of not having land in other state. Conclusion, I support this law, also it should be amended for them leaving rights in other states.

I personally am very keen to settle in HP, but I absolutely support section 118. Only because of this rule, hp remains hp today. Thanks for explaining. Industrialisation is for flat geography, not for hilly natural areas. If 118 is removed or modified, HP will loose the tourism industry as well, and the billionaires will buy all the plots and outcast the original Himachallis. Never ever remove 118. Even being an outsider, I am proud of HP because I am an Indian. India has not yet exposed the power of tourism industry like other countries.. People don't have idea how powerful it is and how much revenue it can generate.

This law is only to protect the environment and culture. Other states too can implement these rules. But it takes a lot of courage to do so as Property tax in cities give one heck of money to the government. It is up to the state Government whether their priority is nature or money. Himachal believes in sustainable development
A sustainable industrialisation of specific areas should be possible so that ppl there get jobs , but this should be done very wisely considering ecology , environment… if you block the road for development and if there not much ways left employment you ppl will be the one changing the law and then their will be whole race to sale the land and get rich… So everything has its place , a rationally drafted plan which is also executed wisely can give you employment and also you preserve the heritage… And pollution man see the traffic in Shimla , you guys already need to work for some standardisation there , because of only focus on tourism there are so many non viable hotels , houses built on mountains on large scale , so it’s already harmful for ecology…
I am a BENGALI . If you look back 80 years or more the Bengali cultural was very beautiful and rich. Culturally Bengali people were quite developed in India but Bengal is so transformed and multicultural now that Bengali culture and even language is also effected for this reason. Though it is strange that being an Indian state Himachal seems to me a foreign country inside India. Wish Bengal had some kind of act such as 118. But also that does not make India one country.

I think should be allowed to by land, but not allowed to do any factories or polution activity. Also some additional heavy amount as duty to be charged for state income to make sure only genuine person can use the land for house and garden only. Just my thought.

I'm from Shimla (well Mandi actually but have never stayed there) and have been living in Canada for the last 20 years. The current laws should stay in place and should not be changed. Himachal has a unique culture and our people are susceptible to manipulation quite easily. We are simple people at heart and we're a small population. Any change in the law will result in our people getting swamped and that will result in Assam like situation. We don't want industrialization in the state. There are several other methods to improve employment in Himachal without necessarily destroying the environment. We have already partially destroyed our beautiful state. Every time I travel to India and drive around in Himachal it breaks my heart to see the concrete structures built by both the Govt & people that are so out of character with the natural surroundings. Our so-called tourist places have become garbage dumps thanks to the callous tourists who have no civic sense. The civic authorities are as out of touch with the ground reality & aspirations of the people as is the state Govt. Thanks to our first chief minister Dr. YS Parmar, we have this law. If we left it to the wisdom of the current breed of politicians this state would have gone to dogs long ago.

But due to these restrictions , aren’t most of the young talent moving out for jobs ? At some extent at least the IT sector should be set up . Nalagarh is already hub for pharmaceutical companies . It’s government job to make sure that Himachal’s sanity is not compromised. Definitely not at cost of our himachal’s purity and culture.

I am not from himanchal but i completely support section 118. I dont want devbhoomi of my country to be converted into allabhoomi infested with madarssas like whats started now in uttarakhand. Imagine 5 times azaan happening on loudspeakers in calm & serene himanchal.

Section 118 is a landmark itself .see the main problem is that our economy is mainly tourism based and employability is mainly dependent on government sector that's why people of himachal except kullu and shimla and areas where people grow apple other expensive fruits runs towards city's like delhi and mumbai for employment to solve this we should take example of Switzerland how they change their economy tourism based without harming their beauty
I support this section should be entact, however, It should also include them not allowing to buy land in other states to make it just. Right now, it appears biased towards Himachal people prosperity. Not allowing them to buy land in other state will give a sense that they want to preserve their environment and culture and in return leaving the their righ of not having land in other state. Conclusion, I support this law, also it should be amended for them leaving rights in other states.

There should be little relaxation for hotel industries as the state is popular tourist destination. There is in no big star hotels groups . Individuals may not be allowed but hotel industries should be. Otherwise what is difference between JnK & HP?

I personally am very keen to settle in HP, but I absolutely support section 118. Only because of this rule, hp remains hp today. Thanks for explaining. Industrialisation is for flat geography, not for hilly natural areas. If 118 is removed or modified, HP will loose the tourism industry as well, and the billionaires will buy all the plots and outcast the original Himachallis. Never ever remove 118. Even being an outsider, I am proud of HP because I am an Indian. India has not yet exposed the power of tourism industry like other countries.. For the matter of cultural heritage and nature and it's safety of Himachal.. section 118 should remain forever..
This law is only to protect the environment and culture. Other states too can implement these rules. But it takes a lot of courage to do so as Property tax in cities give one heck of money to the government. It is up to the state Government whether their priority is nature or money. Himachal believes in sustainable development
A sustainable industrialisation of specific areas should be possible so that ppl there get jobs , but this should be done very wisely considering ecology , environment… if you block the road for development and if there not much ways left employment you ppl will be the one changing the law and then their will be whole race to sale the land and get rich…
So everything has its place , a rationally drafted plan which is also executed wisely can give you employment and also you preserve the heritage…
And pollution man see the traffic in Shimla , you guys already need to work for some standardisation there , because of only focus on tourism there are so many non viable hotels , houses built on mountains on large scale , so it’s already harmful for ecology…
I am a BENGALI . If you look back 80 years or more the Bengali cultural was very beautiful and rich. Culturally Bengali people were quite developed in India but Bengal is so transformed and multicultural now that Bengali culture and even language is also effected for this reason. Though it is strange that being an Indian state Himachal seems to me a foreign country inside India. Wish Bengal had some kind of act such as 118. But also that does not make India one country.

I think should be allowed to by land, but not allowed to do any factories or polution activity. Also some additional heavy amount as duty to be charged for state income to make sure only genuine person can use the land for house and garden only. Just my thought.
